  1. Turbo can can have more flat torque curve. When I dynoed mine with stock T3, I was getting over 200ft/lb from 3000rpm to 5300rpm. peaking @ 218ft/lb @ 4400rpm with 11.5:1 A/F ratio.
  2. HIgh quality mid steel can handle intense heat better than some SS. No turkish metal
  3. Ok, I think I'm getting it. Well, I broke the gear right behind the input shaft bearing. So the trans ride on that gear pretty much all the time? that would explain why I broke it when I was in 3rd gear.
  4. Ok, I broke my trans last week. I took it apart this week and found fourth gear all chewed up. (10 teeth missing. ) But what puzzling me is that I was not in fourth gear when the trans broke. how can that be? Does the manual trans ride 4th gear all the time since it's drive gear or something? BTW, myt trans is early 280Z 5 speed. I alos like to convert the overdrive to later model. (somehthing more than .86) All I have to do is to swap the gear set off later trans for the 5th gear right? Thanks
  5. that's a mad skill there. I bet he only have like a ball pin hammer to to that too.
  6. Mixed and matched here. 8) the set of rocker arms were from a same head (I assume) the cam came from another head.
  7. I would think the machine shop sould be able to use a sleeve, kind of like Helicoil but alot bigger, to adapt the soilid lifters on P90A. I just don't think anyone bother to try since you can get a soild lifter head pretty cheap.
  8. where did you locate our fuel pump? if it's too high, the carb pump won't pump right
  9. Yap, 30 psi on cast pistons. Seen it, know a guy(s) and it's all possible. On race gas though. He didn't just turn up the boost, it was tuned with pocket logger, knock counter and AFC. What's funny is he didn't hurt the pistons, he span a rod bearing.
  10. man you can make a turbo down pretty fast
  11. you probably won't have enough cylinder walls to make a 3.1L out of L24. But other than that they are physically same size
  12. pay close attention to the FMIC. it's lie 5 inches thick
  13. I'm trying it out now. I'll let you know if I like it or not
  14. The spool is going to depends the turbine wheel. Straight T04B? P-trim in a small turbine housing is what you are looking for I think. .60 A/R T04B compressor housing will clear the manifold without a spacer.
  15. The trick that works fo me is just to use three bolts to hold the heat shield on the intake. I pop riveted alumium coated fiber silica blanket under the heat shield. I can actually touch stuff around turbo without getting burnt
  16. I'll let you have mine but it's unclipped stage I. alot of wear too
  17. But if the two set (between closed and open chamber) are exactly same set up, would you not need more timing on open chamber to get the optimal power? Just a question
  18. 1G DSM BOV kind of prrrs. I do like that sound, cheap too.
  19. I'm not against the idea of SR20DET. but why not 20-30psi on L28ET? 400HP isn't hard out of 2.8L. There are many new turbos that you can 400HP if you don't mind spending the money.
  20. wasn't there a topic about static and dynamic compression on this forum? That'll be good read. Over 10:1 on a stock cam is going to be almost pushing the limit. 9.8:1 sounds good to me. Norm told me to keep the motor under 215-220psi under compression test. (I was running about that much on my N/A setup) With stock pistons at least. And Norm is running N42 with alot of material shaved from the bottom of head. He said his head chamber isn't open any more. It's like E31 head, semi-hemi chamber. Good strong flame front should help under high compression motor from pinging. FYI
