I was wondering how the CF dash came out, as I'm working on something similar. Did you use a two part mold for it?

1974 260Z track car. Ground Up.

Anyone know where that thread is that went through changing a head gasket on a Z? I know they said make sure the timing chain doesn't fall down, but I'd like to have the thread for reference. Ohh yeah, weather is getting warmer, feel like workin. -
I ordered some stuff from TABCO a while back, not so long ago they said they have the parts done, left a message on my machine. But it was so long after I ordered them (with CC number). That I lost interest in purchasing from them. I figure I will make my own fenders from carbon fiber. Although it would be nice to have the patch panels.

We actually had most of it stripped by the end of the 1st day. If we would have kept up at the pace we were at, I'd be driving it now. But, the 0 degree weather isn't for me. Also, I have some other projects inside I need to finish. Perhaps I will buy a house with a big garage for a shop soon. -

I'm not dead, just been working A LOT, unfortunately not on the Z.. I also have to finish my basement, a project I started last winter. So I fabricate all day at work, 6 days a week. And now I really need to kick myself in the ass to get this basement finished. I don't know what I'm going to do with the blue Z, I may fix the head gasket and sell it, or drive it in the summer. You guys need to get some good progress to get my ambition going again!! -
how much horsepower is enough?or what does it take to scare you?

I wont be satisfied until I have a car that can out accelerate my 06' R1 (175hp). -
You guys think this is alittle too much boost?

http://www.oldcartrader.com/ocsalelist.php Check this out, I was looking at one of the ads at work, and they had a 280z with a 350 for ~2500$.. I wish I would have seen that before I started all my other projects.. lol..

She finally showed me her naked body last nite.

First off, what kind of punch did you use to put all those holes in the gussets, and in the section behind the seats? 283VZ, don't be so hard on yourself, although I do feel the same way. It's been a while since I've worked on the project Z, because of a few new projects.. ugg.. Anyway, set goals that are REALISTIC and OBTAINABLE, and in small intervals. Each time you complete one, give yourself a bit more work, or less time to do the next goal, eventually you will find a system that works for you. There is no point in setting a goal that is unreachable. -
Looks very nice, do you have pics of the whole car?

Camaro boy.. Any old 02 sensor hooked up to a wide band isn't going to show you anything. They are narrow band sensors You need a wide band 02 sensor for accurate tuning. As far as tuning goes, you can forget the wide band, because so much fuel is going to pass through the cylinder unburnt because of the boost that its going to read way off anyway. A 2 stroke actually has over 100% volumetric efficiency. If you want a turbocharged snowmobile, I'd suggest getting a 4 stroke motor, as you will not waste so much time for minimal at best gains.

Maybe it got rusty again..

On my 74 260Z they bolt on to the rear sub frame, I don't know of its the same on the 280's haven't really checked. How ever you do it, remove the bumper mounts, and then grind the paint off, cut sheet metal to fit the opening, and tack weld it in. Grind flush, tack pin holes, grind, use lead, or body filler to smooth out surface, and paint to finish.. I think on a 280' they do not have the long indentations that a 240 or 260 has on the rear 1/4 panel, so you shouldn't have to perform much surgery there. I assume thats what you're talking about..

Yeah, I guess heat will only come from the heater vents under the dash, when its on the RED ARROWS.. not the blue lol.. so it has heat. I was wondering if the Z's use cam bolts for rear A-arm alignment or perhaps my rear arm is just bent? How can I correct the toe in on the rear?
-
For some reason the driver side rear wheel has crazy toe in.. Uhh.. more to come later.

1- The coolant and oil pressure gauge doesn't register anything, although the back light works, there is no fuse for this gauge, so I really am stumped here, unless it's somehow unplugged. 2- The radiator hose on the top has pressure, and is very hot, although I get no heat inside the car. ??? The guy I got the car from had the no radiator in it for a year because he replaced the water pump. Could there be a ton of air inside the motor? 3- I think someone put the wrong rear lower control arm on, one seems to be upside down.. (although they are like that in pics I look at.. why?) The car tog tracks pretty noticeably, I thought this was the issue, but if it's correct it could just be bad alignment. 4- brakes must have a ton of air in the lines, and rear shoes need to be adjusted. (weekend project) The parking brake doesn't work. And the BRAKE light is on. I guess I'll have to get it on a lift to see if its even connected. 5- Suspension is loose as hell, I guess the bushing are shot. Don't really want to replace them.. Maybe new shocks would help. I am used to driving my Subaru WRX STI and that rides hard as hell, so maybe this car isnt that bad... ooo.. yeah it is.. when you can turn the wheel left and right and while you're turning right the car is yawing left, thats pretty bad!! lol I've installed a new batt-fuel filter, brake fluid, coolant/water. On the way is a cap and rotor, spark plugs and plug wires.. Got to make it reliable for winter so I can make it to work on time every day. Any help on any of these 5 issues would be helpful thanks.. -edit- Also the clutch is engaging very far up in the pedal throw. The fluid level is good, and the clutch doesn't slip(when its not supposed to), is there any way I can adjust this?

1974 260Z track car. Ground Up.
MoNkEyT88 replied to MoNkEyT88's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Both on the list of things to do. I just ordered a new cap and rotor, spark plugs, and wires. Also, going to be installing an electric fan. When I got the car, the pass side window crank regulator was missing, so I installed the one from my 260z, and also used the track. There is a lot of rust on this Z, a lot of bondo also, but I want to drive it, not worry about that stuff, I can worry about that on the 260z. -

I got a 280z..now too.. I dont know.. I have the bug. This one is not in good condition, but it does run. They are fun to drive, but it will need work to make it acceptable. -
He called me back, and I told him my view in the situation and he said I should have someone from the forum possibly stop by and take a look around, I don't know if he tried to change every thing around or what. But I guess he is trying to get my money. He accused you guys of also being fiberglass MFG's and slandering him. LOL.. I said its a forum, where people share their views, not sell things. Not one of you has tried to sell me anything, except sex. Anyway. Anyone feel like stopping by? I should call him and ask him to take pictures of the exact fenders that I would be buying and send them to me, why the hell have someone else run his errands.

Attempt to drive the GT240

BTW, your Z doesn't look that much lower than other Z's, have you done something else to the diff that would cause this? -
Attempt to drive the GT240
MoNkEyT88 replied to Jay Hitchcock's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
He is saying the angle diff is too low in relation to the center of the wheels, causing a high angle for the CV shafts. You can see in this random picture a diff and CV shafts at angles. -
