  1. I have an MG boot lock on the boot (hatch) of my 280Z right now (original lock was broken). I think it looks cool. All I had to do was remove the arm from the original lock and bolt it to the MG lock. Then enlarge the hole to fit the MG lock and line everything up, then screw the locknut on. The only problem with that lock is that the threaded section isn't very long and wouldn't work through the door and the fibreglass doorskin. I'm surprised others don't do it. How does your lock mount- flush, or inset? I have an idea on how to use it as a functional lock. thx.
  2. Inoticed straight away you have the pushbutton door pulls. Would you mind telling us what was used to make them?
  3. *sniff* I'm still working on the power steering for my L28 engine. I like it any way, and I'm -real- picky. cool- right hand drive, huh?
  4. I just point my washer jets to the side and fill the washer box with that stuff. quirt, squirt- no more rice! Rice-A-Roni : italian Honduh
  5. Believe it. My 78 280Z has the headlights access from the back. You gotta TAKE OFF the wheel, then remove a protective bulkhead from inside the fender, then remove the light bucket.
  6. I only made some simple assumptions: *You only need a small slot or hole in the hump for the lever mechanism to go through, just bolt to the floor. *You could easily connect the lever to the stock cable(somehow) * the lever has a switch you hook into the Z wiring, like the old switch.
  7. Would it be possible to relocate the e-brake lever to the center of the trans hump? I think it would look a little nicer and be simpler, especially if you get it from another car and the center console as well. thx.
  8. That makes sense, but I've seen this done with a topic that has all text (no pics). All I can think of is that Netscape isn't fornatting the screen right. I just need to find the setting andchange it. thx.
  9. If you're going to run wires to your guages, why not use wires for the signal too? less plumbing mean less worries to me.
  10. It's a different thing with those older cars from Detroit. On thos cars, the hod hinges friom the back. Remember, the Z hood hinges from the front, so you'll have to run your wires all the way from the gauge to the front, then back to the sender.
  11. You could also put them on a bar that flips over. Did you consider the effect of precipitation? Like rain or snow?
  12. Is it made of tubing or billet? I saw on on eBay, and it was "offroad racing use only." I was thinking that it might be a cool thing to have to clean up the top of the engine.
  13. Yeah- Can you list the parts you are puting on there? Why are you putting the booster on upside down? It seems to be kinda symmetrical, except for where the hose goes on (on the 280Z at least). thx.
  14. Hey guys---- If this thing is going to happen we need to get together on the software and the platform. Not everybody has a playstation or Xbox or Nintendo or other kiddie box. What about people that use a PC?? The software should best be able to work with all platforms. I only have a PC and don't plan on spending money on a game machine.
  15. Will the box-thing plug into my notebook?
  16. I was thinking that road racing would be in for a group or rally racing for 1-on-1.
  17. A perennial subject this time of year, is what to do all winter for the guys, like me, who are stuck indoors. I literally sit in my wooden armchair with the notebook computer stuck to one hand and remote to the other. Online car racing! Maybe it's possible to get some software, hook up a joystick (or some driving controls) and get online for action. Maybe it's even possible to customize your virtual car (Z of course) with V-8, flares, big brakes (get real), or whatever. I don't know of anything off the top of my head, but I haven't looked yet, either. Maybe somebody knows of some good software that's not too expensive (saving money for mods) or maybe even free? thx. 18. How did the calipers fail? I'm considering the rear conversion, but things seem to be really confusing concerning which calipers & e-brake cable to use? I've seen about 6 different versions of the conversion and they basically used different parts for each ?
  19. one of those laser levels can paint a straight line the whole length of the car. It seems kinda slow to follow the laser along with a pen.
  20. I would like my body shop guy to stop fixing everybody else's car first...
  21. OK........ Who currently has the brackets for the rear calipers for 280Z?
  22. Check out CompUSA, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. after Christmas. They should all have some open-box units you could get. Usually about 50% off, too. I got mine another way, but a friend bought a Toshiba ($2000) for about $800. had everything but cd-rw. You could probably get all the stuff you want, exept I'm not sure you can get 512 Mb ram or a 40Gb HD. Dell is alao advertising laptops starting at $800 I think. Stay away from Gateway.
  23. Can you use the Z pads temporarily? I have a new set that was never used. Also, is there a preferred model of 4x4 for the calipers? If you tell the JY guy toyota 4x4, they look at you funny- they want an exact model & year.
  24. Isn't it more important to use the tires that make your speedo read the correct speed?
