  1. Thanks for posting the link, I guess I should have done that in my post other than just referencing the letters. The mounts and driveshaft alone are going to run you $600+, then as mentioned above headers, exhuast, fueling, intake. Check out this thread for what I have into mine as mentioned by dudeboy $2000 is a good start but not near a full budget to do a 'good' job. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=129923&highlight=swap
  2. Thats awesome. Being only 25 I can remember what it was like in school and such. I actually enjoyed school (until university) and my parents were supportive of me during it and I think that was what kept me into it. I too was a math kid as I always loved numbers and money. I'm sure that your son will do very well if he's got this good of a start.
  3. What size tires are you running on these? looks good
  4. that's not even close to a realistic budget for an LS1 swap IMO, good luck. and its JCI mounts, not JTR
  5. I day dream all about winning the lottery and paying debt off for family members and some cool cars my inlaws have great taste, a 7 series BMW and a Land Rover Supercharged. An Infiniti FX for my mom too I like to help people and spoil them if possible.
  6. Well seems like every other thing we touch doesn't go our way lately. Progress to date: old motor pulled pretty easy I must say. From there we disconnected the T56 and LS1 to see the clutch was toast and needed to be replaced, new mcleod clutch, pressure plate and flywheel got ordered. Then the hydraulic line for the tranny had a fitting fail on a test fit of the motor, new line there. Now the trans mount isn't fitting between the rails of the car. Thankfully the shop my car is in has an amazing welder in it and he's going to help cut and weld in the mount for us, he's a real life saver some times. At least the motor is in and tonight the trans mount will be modified to work so we can get the DS measurement to get that on the way. Good times
  7. because nothing is attached, its all literally just hanging there for a picture for you guys
  8. Well I got a response from Terry at the shop via email about my seats/panels. Not quite what I was expecting in terms of cost but yikes, $4200 for seats/panels in leather/suede:eek: or $2100 for vinyl/fake suede. Unfortunately that well outside my budget for this project at $4200 and I don't want to go with a "high quality" vinyl on this car. *sigh* Things haven't gone my way this week
  9. you could always just pull the front cover off the motor and see whats engraved on the end of the cam then just button it back up. i know my aftermarket cam had the lift etched into the end so it would give you a fairly easy way to check...
  10. $1.20/L...tell me thats 87 octane. When I left for vacation last wed. we were 1.21/L for regular and over $1.35ish for 91 at Petro... Thankfully our DD cars are 87 only, and once the LS1 is in, well, I'll cringe a little when I pay for it but I'll be smiles ear to ear burning it up (and tires too!)
  11. thats a damn shame Jerry. I wish him (and you) all the best during his recovery. i'm sure he'll be back working on his project like nothing happened when he's healed up.
  12. well the place in guelph just totally tried to screw me. I dropped the panels and seats off and the next day I got a call saying the hides have gone WAY up in price, $800 infact. So my quote just went through the roof and I'm NOT impressed. Needless to day I'm gunna call Tom's when I get the seats back now... I'm soo upset its not funny.
  13. I personally haven't used the fat mat product so I can't really make a comment on it. I have used eDead a lot and have nothing but good things to say about it. easy to apply, cheap to buy, great end result even with the V1 version (cheapest). If you buy edead type in forum discount in their search engine on the site and you will get 20% off IIRC any edead product.
  14. Sorry for not posting all of the information. It is indeed a 280Z, lowered on eibhac springs and KYB struts. If I understand you correctly you are saying that I will have less inner clearance up front due to the strut spring perch so the 7" rim with the +15mmET would be better to clear the perches? From where I sit based on my (albeit limited knowledge) my calculations say that the backspacing between the two rims a 7" with a 15mm positive ET will have a backspacing of 4.09" (3.5" is 0 offset, add in 15mm which is .590") whereas the backspacing on the 8" with 0mmET is only 4". The 7" rim would have the outter lip sit futher in by .59" than the 8" but based on the above I do not see it sitting any better with regards to the inner clearance aspects. Please point out my flaws as I think I'm missing something.
  15. I'm looking to pull the trigger on a set of wheels for the Z and I need a little advice. I'm looking to get the XXR 513 rims as seen around here and ebay. I'm wondering if I should get the staggered set which is 16x7 +15ET for the fronts and the 16x8 with 0ET for the rears? Or do I just get the 16x8 with 0 offset for all 4 corners. I will be running 225/50 up front and a 245/45 out back. Which will be acceptable for clearancing the fenders up front as I don't want to have rubbing up front. Any input would be great guys Thanks jason
  16. Congrats! I can't wait to retire... but since I'm 25 I've got a LONG way to go Enjoy the new freedom!
  17. i wasn't expecting you to beat them but be closer to them I can justify spending a little more to support a club sponsor vs an ebay store.
  18. If you decide to lower your rim prices to be closer to the ebay prices I can tell you that I will order a set pretty much ASAP as I will be needing my rims in short order. I too was told $85 shipped to Niagara Falls NY from the ebay store listed above.
  19. would the 16x8 with 0 offset fit up front or is running the 7" width in the front that much better?
  20. Ya that is the rad fluid that was in the block from when it was tipped to pull it from the bay. On the down side the T56 was pulled from the LS1 and the clutch is toast so I've got to order a new clutch/pressure plate and get the flywheel balanced..oh well better now than 1000km down the road and having to pull it then.
  21. I believe the shop's name is Clear Vision in Guelph, On. Just off of Woolwich near Norkfolk IIRC.
  22. Not at all. Currently I'm looking at about $1800cdn for both seats, both panels, both arm rests in black leather with charcoal perferated leather inserts.
  23. Finally I have some progress to show.
  24. if you are putting them in the stock door panel you will definately need a shallow mount speaker. I doubt anything over 2" will fit into the door panel and not interfer with something. I don't have my car at home anymore or else I'd go measure it for you. sorry.
  25. I'm getting a local upholstery shop to do the panels and my seats in black and charcoal leather. I will be dropping them off this coming monday actually and they should be done the following week. I'll post pics when I get them back
