  1. Well today JP, myself and George made our way down to Dundas for Z-fest. Overall a great show IMO. There were more than a handful of cars that weren't there last year so it was nice to see some different cars. I was super impressed with some of the 240z's and the new 350z's. There was a RB-swapped 240 that had some HUGE wilwood brakes on it and very well done. I'm not posting up pics yet as I'm sunburnt pretty good from today but the highlight was the raffle draws as usual. Last year a guy from Rochester won over $1k worth of gear from the raffles, he got shut out this year (thankfully! LOL) but his buddy took home at least $6-700 worth of prizes. Another guy from TO won 5 times for various parts. One guy won front and rear slotted/drilled rotors for his 350z, then won the semi-metallic pads to go with them a few minutes later. Killer! George was lucky and won two prizes, one car cleaning kit and a MrClean spot free car wash thingi-ma-bob. Pretty good haul. I got called near the end and won my personal favorite prize, Sunoco gift card. Woot $50. Thats like at least 3/4 of a tank for me in the Z lol. As for the car show awards there was some jaw dropping that happened part way through when the stock 300zx Z32 class winner was annouced. George (chodoctr) won. He went to the show thinking his car was average at best and just went to see the cars etc. He was speachless, it was cool to have him win his class. I was nervous about the 280Z class as there were some nice cars there but we did end up winning the 280Z modified class again this year. I'm pretty pumped about it. Two years in a row now Next year I want the overall people's choice award:D Anyway it was a good time Here are my non-professional, point and shoot pictures Random pic of a few of the award winners And my favourite shot of the day came after our little 'rain delay'
  2. IMO deadener is useless unless you are running a resonator iin your exhuast system. I deadened with probably close to if not a little more than 100sq/ft of my interior (full spare tire/hatch area, seats, drive tunnel, firewall what i could get at) and with my 3" exhuast an no resonator i might as well not have put anything in. i wish i didn't. I may even take it out as god knows there will not be a resonator in my exhuast, ever.
  3. get the benz somehow. that is the sexiest sedan to hit the market in a while. the C class is at the top of my personal want list also
  4. my neighbor's 90TT has 255's out back on infiniti 17's with no rubbing and he is LOOOW
  5. lovin' the colour. i'm really impressed for a DIY job too. Congrats!
  6. I agree and am aware of the affects of my 60' times. The first time out was just to get a baseline time and have some fun. Next time I will certainly be dropping the tire pressure to try to hook it harder off the line. As for the cam being tame, well it is. This is a car for me and my wife to drive. I didn't want a cam that was bucking and idling rough as I don't think that is something my wife wants to deal with as she drives it to her office for work. When I put heads on the car I will most likely upgrade the cam to something a little larger but nothing rediculous as drivability is #1.
  7. may I ask what ohm of resistor you used to get the fuel guage to read properly? VERY nicely done too!
  8. XXR 512's 16x8 0 offset 225/50/16 front 245/45/16 rear no rubbing todate.
  9. bottom ends in the 3.8L series II or III is not weak by any means. These are basically a built proof motor if mods are done right to them. I know more than a handful of friends of mine in the 11's and 12's with this motors either SC'd or Turbo'd. one of the Top 10 motors ever.
  10. My thoughts are with you and your entire family. I couldn't fathom being in your shoes. I wish you all the best.
  11. Well these would be only for the track. If I got DR's I'd swap them on just before I left and put my street tires back on when I got home. I wouldn't be driving them on the street otherwise. My only concern with going with slicks is can I actually fit two rims/tires IN the datsun with a jack TO the track...lol I don't mind swapping tires as its for a good cause obviously the true slick would net a better short time and therefor a better ET, is a slick harder on the driveline than a DR? I've heard that DR's can be as hard or harder on driveline due to less sidewall flex etc. thoughts on that?
  12. Well I had my LS1Z to the track on friday and drove it on street tires. Went pretty good all in all 1.98 60' lead to a 12.803@111.25 I know I'm leaving a bundle of power at the line as I left at only 3500rpm and the LS1 Fbody guys are saying to leave higher than that. I tried leaving harder on streets and ended up with a 2.66...first gear was a mess. lol I've got a set of 15x8 wheels that have no tires on them sitting in the garage. So do I go for a street legal drag radial such as a M/T ET Street Radial (was thinking 235/60/15) or do I go for an all out slick? if so what size? For the car I have a 280z with the ls1 with a 224/224 .567" lift cam, LS6 intake, sanderson headers, 3" single exhuast and a 6spd with 3.90:1 out back Thoughts?
  13. Ya we are running the T56, I just hesitated a split second too long to shift and hit the limiter, scared the ♥♥♥♥ outta me...lol but we still ran a good time. It's got a little more in it as it sits for sure. We still need to tune it for the cam. I'd say another tenth or two are easily attainable with practice and the tune. Mods are 224/224 114+4 .567" cam (918 springs, hardened PR's) LS6 intake Sanderson hugger headers 1 3/4" primaries dual 2.5 to 3" single exhuast We ran it in street trim, both leather seats, full stereo and half tank of gas. We had 245/45/16 Sumitomo tires at 35psi on the back 3.90:1 rear end
  14. Great runs,The Honda comment was great! early 90's hatchback...huge backfire ten just smoke... i have nothing against honda's we own two...lol i forgot how much fun the track was.. i need a tune and more go fast parts
  15. Well last night Amanda and I took the Z to the track for its virgin runs with the LS1. For a reference last time we raced the Z it ran a 15.1X @89.5~MPH. Quick, but thats it. This time around it was a little different to say the least. First run ever tryig to launch the LS1 and first time driving with a helmet...lol 2.1 60' 13.12@110mph I was pretty pumped with that for the first run. I noticed a good bog off the line as I only launched a tad higher than idle, 1500rpm. A little later I got back in line, launched a little harder 2-2500 off the line. 2.041 60' 8.515 1/8th 86.43 MPH 13.035 @ 110.50 MPH Went back again at launched harder, 3500rpm .206 R/T 1.980 60' 8.332 1/8th 87.74 MPH 12.803 @ 111.25 MPH Damn skippy! Pulled like all business off the line, grabbed some rubber at the 1-2 and it was just hauling ass the whole way. As far as I was concerned it was my perfect run. A civic's oil decided to leave his block via a homemade hole at about the 330' mark and stopped all the fun. I won't post the first run after the oil spill as I got ambitious and tried launching really hard and just smoked them on the line and let off. The car definately felt floaty over the oil spot even at my low speeds. I got two more back to back runs in and both in the 'good' lane. 2.024 60' 2.050 8.500 1/8th 8.511 85.66 MPH 86.43 13.054 1/4 13.035 109.40 MPH 109.89 The left run I hit the 2nd gear limiter and scared the *beep* out of myself, cost me my 12sec run. Arg. he right run I remembered that I hit the limiter in 2nd and shifted at 6k not 6400. Newb. Both definately had the potential for 12's All in all it was an amazing experience. This was all on a rought tune as I just changed one of my O2 sensors and adjusted the fuel pressure. This was with street 245's and normal 35psi tire pressure and half tank of gas (91octane). So with a good tune and some sticky tires we could maybe see some 11's this season!
  16. It was on the car when I bought it but I believe it was an MSA part if i remember correctl yfrom the last owner... the metal part is about 2.5-3" deep.
  17. you can see the up and down arrow switches on the right side of the console under the rear defooger light.
  18. Well we flipped the valve and it works now... which is odd becuase it looks like it hadn't been moved... oh well, at least now it works and doesn't take a leg workout Thanks for the help guys.
  19. http://ls1howto.com/index.php?article=23 i have paypal and accept donations I followed this to do the cam swap into my LS1 before it got installed. what cam are you going with?
  20. I honestly haven't tested it with a guage but there is tons of vaccumm. I pulled a vac line and it had enough suction to rival a cheap whore on a friday night. I will be going by the shop tonight and I will try to get a reading on a guage. Where should it be reading?
  21. I have a stock tank, ended up welding fittings for -AN fuel lines thru a filter and then the regulator to the rail.
  22. Well my swap is done (2000 LS1/T56 into '76 280Z) and the brake booster and everything is hooked up on the new motor. Nothing on the brakes themselves were touched during the swap that I can think of. Now when the car runs its like I have no assisstanace with the brakes. I have to get on them HARD to get the car to stop. Peddle pressure is stiff, the car will stop/slow ok and all but it was a tad hair raising the first few times till I got used to it. Has anyone with an LSx swap (or any swap I guesss) experienced this or know what the cause may be? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks jay
  23. Thanks for the input. Thankfully I like how they turned out and it was well within my budget. My whole interior (including Recaro seats, materials, Focal components, amps and everything) was UNDER the price quoted for just recovering the seats/panels at Tom's... For me it was a great value, it may not be a Barrett Jackson quality job but for me (age 25) and the use I have planned for the car it fit the bill perfectly.
  24. Here are the first pictures of the seats and panels in the car. There is one complimentary overall car shot too
