  1. that was my first reaction too... I thought that was part of the cars attraction when I got mine. Good luck tracking down your source of leakage
  2. like several of the above I'm running the Sumitomo HTRZ's, 245/45/16. $75/tire on tire rack. Thats disposable at the end of the season basically. I haven't had any problems with them at all. I took it to the track and in total street trim (32psi) I cut a 1.98 first time out with the motor swap. Pretty darn good IMO for a cheapo street tire. Wet driving is fine on the highway and in town from my experience. I'll buy them again most likely when I need new tires.
  3. I think I paid around $8500 for mine, fresh floors/rails, good body with good paint and refreshed motor and stock interior, aftermarket wheels. This past winter/spring I swapped ls1 into the car, new wheels, new interior/guages/seats/FG door panels, whole 9 yards as they say. I was lucky and sold the wheels and drivetrain to offset SOME of the cost but I easily spent close to $10k on all the work (less what i sold off the car). That said I didn't do ANY suspension or beefing up of the driveline parts. Hence why I destroyed a half shaft at the track. Now I have an LSD, zx half shafts, finned diff going in. I also finally am upgrading to Wilwood brakes. So there's another $2k or so. Good times and as said before I wouldn't change a thing this car is a TON of fun. Hell my wife just took her mom for ride in it and they love the car. Its just a blast to drive.
  4. Ouch. I don't want to ask for pics but I'm interested to see what happened all the same. Good luck with the car either way
  5. I didn't take a pic of it specifically (didn't cross my mind) but you can see two cues by the wooden rack that are standing vertically on their own, rim is holding them up
  6. I have a 19" rim that I use as a cue holder in my billiards room
  7. You can actually buy the rounded corners at Home Depot and they basically mud in like a normal corner. Lots of attention needs to be paid while mudding... I personally can't build a mud pie so George my neighbor (with a 300zx Z31 nevertheless) did them. He's an all-star handyman.
  8. No problems at all. I have my entire main HT set up from Elemental Designs. TOP notch speakers. I paid about 1/2 of what my neighbor did on his and it blows his away. http://elementaldesigns.com/ is their site IIRC Great forum for information and to ask questions. I HIGHLY recommend checking it out. I drove 12hrs to pick my stuff up from them directly if that tells you something about it!
  9. LOL but then I'd have to tear the house down to get it out...where's the fun in that? I don't think my wife would appreciate that too much...lol Thank you for the compliments!
  10. These were two 2ohm drivers. Final load is 4ohm to the plate amp With the 3 speakers in the room and the two subs its more than enough to annoy my neighbors while still having good sound quality When we bought the house the area that is the bar now was just a closet used for storage with mirrored doors. It was a no brainer to turn it into more usable room and put a bar in. We are very happy with how the project turned out in the end. Even more so that we (me, wife and neighbor) did ALL the work. My wife gets the credit for picking colours, materials and all that jazz. We are the most impressed with how the slate countertop turned out I think. Six_shooter: JerryB it is! That was 2007 at Christie Lake. At that time I didn't even know he lived in Cambridge! I didn't know till just this year and I've had that blown up since Christmas. Pretty cool coincidence in the end! If the OZC guys are interested in having a winter party or something I'm sure my wife won't mind having a few people over for an evening here and there. We put this in to be used and not just looked at. I foresee many hours of enjoyment coming from the work!
  11. Well after a long process I completed my basement build Additions include: Dry Bar, Billiards set up, TV, Audio and foundation repair. Pictures of the process and completed project. The first part of the build was starting the bar. First thing we did was build in a subwoofer box into the new wall that was built. Two 12" EQHS subs from Elemental Designs in a ported box. Cool part of it was that we ported the box through the wall into the billiards room. Turned out awesome. Powered by by 350w @ 4ohm. New wall built on sub box Drywall on new wall Mudding all drywall Paint on walls New pot lights wired in Laminate floors Cabnits and carpeted sub box Coffee and countertop Wine Fridge Slate tiles going in Finished Product can anyone name who's Yellow Datsun is with mine in the picture on the wine fridge?
  12. I want that mold! P-I-M-P-I-N! I'm jealous.
  13. I got him by referal and he is within 20min of my house so it worked out well. He is a car appraiser by trade, primarily deals with classic cars
  14. my cardomain page http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2545113 page 3 for the most current pictures http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2545113/3 Custom interior and stereo is also all new as well as guages, motor swap etc.
  15. Well today I figured was as good of day as any to get my annual appraisal done on the Datsun. Last year was the first year we had the car so we wanted to know the 'replacement' value of it for insurance purposes etc. They said it was worth $12k+ taxes. That was more than we paid for it so we thought all was well. Not that a number on paper means much but it was nice to know anyway. I was a little skeptical to get the appraisal done this year with the new motor and interior and the modifications from original that we had done. Well I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. After a little selling to the appraiser he said his value on the car was $22k+taxes Holy moly. Well after I put my eyes back in my head I let my wife know and she was shocked. Bonus for us I guess, but again its only worth what someone will pay for it. Not that we are looking to sell by any means. Just a reminder to keep your appraisals up to date. Cheers Jason
  16. pretty cool, questionable value at that price. That said how was the quality of the CF hood?
  17. Our Canadian Economy isn't in the same condition as the US, BUT since everyone here relies on the US to see what is going on a LOT of people are talking resession, etc. Yes our automotive sector took a hit and is declining but the rest of us are just fine. My market is good and as such life goes on within normal spending. Am I concerned about the overall economy, sure. Does it run my life? Not a chance. My project is moving along as planned, I actually just got the car back today
  18. i think that is a member of LS1tech.com i've seen that pic MANY times. still don't see anything for sale though... Anyone have a craving for milk about now?
  19. There are TONS of aftermarket head available for these cars. AFR TrickFlow and then a lot of aftermarket LS1 companies do P&P on the 5.3L heads, LS6 etc www.ls1tech.com for a lifetimes reading supply on it. I personally am looking at either a ported set of LS6's or a the 5.3L as they both give a compression bump and will flow better.
  20. I blame you for the events that have just happened. my inlaws are coming from AZ next week... Arizona Z Car is about 30min from their house. Billet mustache Billet Finned brace 12.2" brakes Jerry you can expect a call from my wife. I gave her your # to explain my actions. I see the cliff, I just hope my bungee cord is properly affixed.
  21. You are a bad influence Jerry... I think I'm going to start with just the Z31 CV's and adapters and just go from there. I already have a list made of what I'd like, however reality is I want to get the car on the road sooner than later so start small and build down the road. I think this is the 'smart' way to do it.
  22. Detune the motor. thats funny, you're a a regular stand up comedian I tell ya! I'm just going to get the car home and then piece together the CV upgrade and be done with it. All things considered its not THAT expensive in the scheme of things. The question is where do I stop while I'm working back there? Adjustable LCA's? Coilovers? Adjustable shocks? LSD? Its a slippery slope as usual.
  23. I'll definately be getting pics of it off the car. I'm keeping it as a reminder of the power of torque on metal. I have a local member that has a few half shafts that I can get one from and my mechanic will be able to install it before the weekend... i'm supposed to go racing with him this sunday...lol I may pick up an extra one (or two) if I can incase I try to go racing again lol
