  1. I've got these in my Z as well. Great kit for sure. Super simple install and I find the best part is that I can put up and down the passanger window without contorting my body to reach lol.
  2. For the LS1 you have to buy the JCI mounts as the Jags that Run mounts fit the old SBC motors. What I personally have is JCI mounts (motor and tranny) and then JTR 1 7/8" headers and JTR radiator
  3. Hey all Just a note to pass on to others about my recent transaction with Deja from the board. He had messaged me with two parts that I was after and we agreed on a fair price for them. He shipped them out to me very quickly (especially since it came across the boarder). What really got me was the attention to proper packaging. I believe the box he sent could have been dragged from CA to my doorstep and it would have not only survived but the parts would have been prestine. Two thumbs way up for Dale from me. Thanks again Jason
  4. JTR is a book on the V8 swap in general, its worth the $ to have it. JCI only gives an instruction manual with their kit and its not that well written IMO. JTR - Jags that Run JCI - John's Cars Inc.
  5. Like all things either you pay now or later. If you are doing something make sure its done right. Unless you have all the 'other' things that John includes you'll be pulling it apart later and doing the install over again.
  6. Ok so I'm looking for people who know more about tires than I do on this topic. I'm looking at tires for the Z as its the only car that I have that this would apply to. My setup currently is 16x8" rims all around. I'm running 225/50/16 up front and 245/45/16's out back currently. I have BFG G-Force TA KDW (300 A AA rating) up front and Sumitomo HTR Z's out back (160 AA rating). I'm looking at the Hankook z211 R-COMP tires that a local guy has for sale, new and cheap. The only downside that i see is that I would be running a narrower rear tire as they are only 225/50/16's. That said the overall diameter is basically the same and I can reprogram my speedo to account for that. My question is this: Does the upgraded tire compound from the 160 rating to the R compound make up for the loss of 20mm of tread width? I can't find any technical data that tells me the exact width of the tread as we all know that it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. I know for example that Nitto 555's are wider than nitto 555r's so I'm interested to know how wide the Hankook actually is in comparison to the sumitomo's A 20mm difference should be a .78" difference. The sectional width difference for my two tires is only .6" by the tech data so there definately are descrepancies between manufacturers. The car is not a Daily driver, more of a 2 day a week fun car and weekend car during the summer only. 3000miles would be a lot for a year so I'm not overly worried about the faster wear aspect. Thoughts?
  7. No hijack. I was one of the people who messaged you for the above information!
  8. so is this post about the build or the girl? I'm confused now.
  9. That was an intense read. Thanks for the info I personally learned a bit from that.
  10. Great info. There are a few nice looking cams ranging from mild to wild. Thanks for sharing
  11. Ok so I have a few things on my 'want to do and dream' list and a CF hatch is on it for some reason. Anyway I'm interested to see what people are doing who have them. I'm interested to know if you are using the stock lock mechanism or if you have pins/aerocatch system to keep it in place/lock it. Almost more importantly do you have a spoiler mounted to it, and if so which one and what combination of the above are you using with the spoiler. I like the CF hatch but I know of the importance of the rear spoiler for stability etc on the Z's plus I think it personally adds a lot to the look of the car. Any input/experience is much appreciated as always. Thanks Jason
  12. No problem. Just slowly paying back what I owe the community.
  13. Where did you get that from out of curiousity? If all you want are springs/struts go with this from BetaMotorsports: This is what was originally recommended to me by the man himself. $570 all 4 corners. Deal. Datsun 260/280Z Illumina Advanced Handling Kit (ILK254) $570.24
  14. Me too: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2545113
  15. This is what my throttle pedal looks like with modification to accept the above cable. Make sure when routing it through the firewall that is goes STRAIGHT through the firewall. Mine was slightly offset (like 3/16") and it wore and broke the cable after about 1000miles. I then offset it and haven't had issues since.

  17. Well my sister (two years older than me) is now 33weeks pregnant and was admitted to the hospital late last night. She was taken by ambulance from her home town of Truro to Halifax (hour and a half drive) to a Children's Hospital. Needless to say that I'm stressed to the max.I live about 16hrs away and there's not much if anything that I can do here. I haven't even seen my sister since she's been pregnant other than pictures via email and one online 3D ultrasound early December. We know its a girl, name is going to be Lilly, based on the ultrasound we saw.I just called this hospital and talked to her and she's audibly stressed and not happy. They have her on bed rest so she's not overly happy with that as she's always been an active person. I've never heard my sister like this before on the phone and its not fun. They put her on anti-contraction meds when she first go there but she says she's still had them on and off all day. She says they are giving her something else tonight and will make the decision tomorrow if they send her back to her local hospital or not. If they do send her back and she dialates any more they then send her all the way back to Halifax again so that alone is stressful. Anyway just needed to get it off my chest as its really hitting me pretty hard because my wife and I just decided that we were going to have kids and then this happens to my sister. I know it will all be ok but its just another thing on the plate, first was my surgury last month now this. Just lots to deal with. sorry for no paragraphs, it won't let me edit it :s
  18. There's gotta be a reason they 'fear' getting into the car. I've had a fair share of GF's when I was single and albeit I didn't have the Z back then none were affraid of my car and I drove it like i stole it (since I've matured a lot some how). I've had some that were indifferent towards the car but affraid, never. Hell with the Z the way it is now, LS1, straight piped to a can muffler its louder than any car I've owned and MUCH faster with poorer brakes (till the wilwoods go in). Did I mention my wife LOVES the car (27), her mother always asks to go for a drive when she visits, I had the car basically sideways with her in it and she was like wow! My mom asks to go in it and my father-in-law was disappointed when he didn't get a ride. There's gotta be something that isn't being said by her with regards to the car or you.
  19. Well I've got a stack of parts on my bench and it looks like I have another week off of work because of my surgury but thankfully I'm able to work on the Z as my recovery was much faster than expected. I did the intake manifold and TB install last week now onto the next. The question is which do I do first? I have - 1) Arizona Z Car 12.2" 4pot brake upgrade 2) LSD, finned diff cover and Arizona Z Car billet mustache bar and the billet brace for the finned cover and dog legs. I'm pretty handy all in all, my knowledge is honestly more towards motor than either of these but I believe that I have the competence to get either done successfully (and I'm sure I'll have a friend help during part of it and my laptop with HybridZ available if needed ) Which would be the 'easier' of the two to do?
  20. FPR - Right fitting comes from tank, return on the bottom and the left is feed to the stock rail
  21. here's my pump regulator setup and my pump location if it helps at all
  22. well porsche has a 4 door coming out, so why not a 4dr datsun? lol
  23. Personally I don't think an aftermarket fuel rail is 'needed' for these motors untill you are pushing LOTS of power. I was looking at the upgrade just recently and on ls1tech.com a sponsor says that the stock rails will support upwards of 1000hp with some modification. I don't think we are there just yet As for the your setup it seems good. I'm personally running a stock 280z tank with welded -AN fittings for my supply/return. My system is plumbed like this Tank -> A1000 Pump -> filter -> FPR -> rail and my return is off the FPR back to the tank. Are you running the stock fuel lines? That may be another thing to consider upgrading. I'm running braided lines -10AN from tank to pump, -8 from pump to filter to regulator to rail -6 return from regulator to tank. I've never had any kind of fueling issues.
  24. Ya I agree on the price/value. I have them out back in 245/45/16's and I think I paid like $73 for them. The tread design sticks out to me so I thought I'd make sure I saw what I saw
