  1. JB weld won't hold on the boiler (or if it does not very long). $5000 for 'install' is a rip off IMO (i'm in the HVAC business). That is more or less full retail when all is said and done for some new units. I can see a full day install so 8hrs x $90/hr (or whatever rate they use) to install a new unit + sundries of a couple hundred dollars. But thats no where near $5k obviously. Get another quote to say the least.
  2. Thanks for the kind words guys. I remember when I found out that she survived the first surgury and was just in shock then. Now to find out of the blue that it came back and the fight is over is just unreal. It makes me put things into perspective for sure, I thought having a kidney removed was a big deal this past Dec but this makes me feel silly for even having worried about it. I'm still in shock that the strong person I knew is gone so suddenly.
  3. Well in my young life (26) I have been lucky thus far that not many people have left my life. Today I found out that an old friend from when I live in Nova Scotia has passed away. She, like me, was only 26yrs old. We met back in 1995 I think it was. We went to grade school together and were on the same Track and Field team for many years including the Nova Scotian Canada Games Team in 2001. We shared many life memories together doing something we both cherished. I have since moved away from NS and so had she. A friend, and a coach of ours from way back in the day wrote something and I just wanted to share it with you as he is better with words that I am currently. Hop Skip and a Jump. RIP Carly. Smile and tell someone you love them today.
  4. I thought it was kinda funny too... lol My wife's accord is the same as the Audi's, once for unlok, twice unlock all doors, hold and window's roll down. VERY nice feature for the summer months.
  5. I have fiberglass door panels instead of the stock panels which gain me a little more clearance.
  6. I'm 26, my wife and I were looking to buy a fun summer car and she had an exboyfriend who had a Z with a SBC in it. So it was her fault we bought it Drove it for a year with the L6 then went LS1. Its the best of both worlds now, old school looks, modern performance.
  7. I'm 26, but according to my wife and some friends I'm 4.
  8. At least now I know I'm not the only one. click click click.
  9. Those are the Sport-Comp series of gauges. Neither needed a sending unit as they are electronic. You just tap into the PCM to get the signal and thats it. For the Tach you need to put the dip switch on the back to the 4cyl mod for the LS1 RPM's to be read properly (I had it on 8cyl originally and it read 1/2 the rpms, lol)
  10. I went with the autometer 5" speedo and tach to fill in the stock holes. Install was a breeze and fitment is as good as stock IMO (i followed the instructions posted on here to do it). Accuracy is 100%, no jumping, no dead spots at all. Nice thing is you can program it over and over again for rear end swaps and tire size changes. It reads exactly what my GPS does when I'm in the car so I can't ask for more than that. I did not incorporate the turn indicators or high beam lights as for me those weren't a huge concern. You can hear the 'clicking' of the turn signals when they are on even with the stereo on so I know when its still on and I rarely drive at night to use the highbeams.
  11. For 800+ you'll need some serious rubber to meet the road to get it down and to stick. I'd be all over that though, blown 408 would be killer
  12. Car painted with PPG 3794 basecoat (Chevy bright red), and PPG 2082 clearcoat
  13. I think I was 'lucky' that I was 18 when my parents separated and I was moving away for university. The fact that you have a relationship with him is awesome after the split. Unfortunately for me my father withdrew himself from my life (and sisters)due to the divorce. We didn't talk for 5 yrs give or take and it took my health going into the crapper (kidney removed) for him to try at a relationship with me. Fight for what he wants. That will mean the world to him, I know it would have for me. I wish you the best of luck!
  14. GOLF BLOODY GOLF Don't buy a putter until you've had a chance to throw it. Never try to keep more than 300 separate thoughts in your mind during your swing. When your shot has to carry over a water hazard, you can either hit one more club or two more balls. If you're afraid a full shot might reach the green while the foursome ahead of you is still putting out, you have two options: you can immediately shank a lay-up or you can wait until the green is clear and top a ball halfway there. No matter how bad you are playing, it is always possible to play worse The less skilled the player, the more likely he is to share his ideas about the golf swing. The inevitable result of any golf lesson is the instant elimination of the one critical unconscious motion that allowed you to compensate for all of your many other errors. A golf match is a test of your skill against your opponents' luck. Counting on your opponent to inform you when he breaks a rule is like expecting him to make fun of his own haircut. The shortest distance between any two points on a golf course is a straight line that passes directly through the centre of a very large tree. You can hit a two acre fairway 10% of the time and a two inch branch 90% of the time. If you really want to get better at golf, go back and take it up at a much earlier age. Since bad shots come in groups of three, a fourth bad shot is actually the beginning of the next group of three. When you look up, causing an awful shot, you will always look down again at exactly the moment when you ought to start watching the ball if you ever want to see it again. Every time a golfer makes a birdie, he must subsequently make two triple bogeys to restore the fundamental equilibrium of the universe. To calculate the speed of a player's downswing, multiply the speed of his back-swing by his handicap. IE. back-swing 20 mph, handicap 15, downswing = 300 mph. Hazards attract; fairways repel. A ball you can see in the rough from 50 yards away is not yours. If there is a ball on the fringe and a ball in the bunker, your ball is in the bunker. If both balls are in the bunker, yours is in the footprint It's easier to get up at 6:00 AM to play golf than at 10:00 to mow the yard. A good drive on the 18th hole has stopped many a golfer from giving up the game. Golf is the perfect thing to do on Sunday because you always end up having to pray a lot. Golf balls are like eggs. They're white. They're sold by the dozen. And you need to buy fresh ones each week. If your opponent has trouble remembering whether he shot a six or a seven, he probably shot an eight (or worse). It takes longer to learn to be a good golfer than it does to become a brain surgeon. On the other hand, you don't get to ride around on a cart, drink beer, eat hot dogs and fart if you are performing Brain Surgery.
  15. How about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhwbxEfy7fg
  16. Here is my location, front drivers side fender.
  17. I was going to say the same thing but if you were more northern I was going to suggest shoveling her driveway for her, but thats not so much of an issue in Cali as it is here Great score, VERY generous woman. Send her a christmas card and such. Older people really appreciate those little things.
  18. That near identical to what I did for my wife... Doesn't sound like the best 'fit' for the person that you described though.
  19. I'm going to be installing the AZC 4piston 12.2" wilwood kit for my LS1 powered Z. I think stock brakes are fine for daily driving with only occaisional 1/4mile fun. I upgraded because I want to do some lapping and I felt the stock setup gets mushy pretty quick when driving hard consistantly.
  20. well my fronts have never rubbed, ever. I'm running 225/50 on them with no issues so I consider them to fit. Your experience may differ, the tolerances from one car to the next isn't exact so someone may have an issue. I'm just sharing my insight. I will be going to 225's out back and that shall stop the rubbing on big dips that I was seeing with the 245s.
  21. These are 16x8 0 offset on my 280z. I have no issues with them up front, the rears do rub a hair with 245/45's out back without the fenders rolled.
  22. ah so 'the' connectors. I love "the" connectors they are such a PITA. Glad we have got you to come out of your shell with longer posts.
