I think he ment do you have the belt on the correct side of the pulley. It is possible to have the belt on the pulley but not have it turning the pulley 100%. In other words is the smooth side where it should be and is the ribbed side where it should be? Guy

If it is an air pocket you could get one of those air purge tools for coolant systems to make sure you get all the air out. You can get them for about $100 from Cornwell tools or even Snap-On. Guy

No one makes one that will just bolt in. If you go aftermarket with your gauges you can get them but that will require you to cut up your bezel for your speedo/tach. Guy

Well on Monday I emailed them and told them that they screwed up my last 2 orders and that I would like them to overnight the correct brake hose to me..........and they sure did overnight it to me! I think that shows that they know they screwed up and the important thing is they made me happy! Oh and I finally got my car back on the road after over a month of not driving it due to resealing the power steering, new P/S lines, the brake hose, and fixing my no start condition(wouldnt start after it got hot in stop and go driving, thought it was a battery problem but it was actually because I didnt have a good ground on the engine)! Now I have to get it registered again and put insurance back on it. Then I can take it to the track! Guy Guy

Hey Auxilary, from what I have heard the stage 2 kit is actally slower than stock! Thats just a rumor at work(dodge dealership) though so I dont know if its true or not? I personally dont care for tbe Borla(part of the stage 2 kit I believe) exhaust. I think the Greddy exhaust looks nicer. Guy

Why does the 280zx get such a bad rap? (Warning 56k)
80LS1T replied to zeeboost's topic in Non Tech Board
So what is the 280ZX if its not a sports car? And if you want to get technical the 260Z was the shortest lived Z car, 1 year of production. Guy -
Hehehehe, then you wont have to say no! Guy

Have you ever thought of taking it down to a Nissan garage? I mean think about it.... you take it in, they charge you 1 hour of diagnostics, you let them fix it, then when that doesnt fix the problem you can keep taking it back and they will have to keep trying to fix it! Thats the way it works at my dealership anyways! Yeah it sucks for the auto tech who doesnt t diagnose a vehicle correctly but atleast the customer is happy! LOL Guy

So is it a DOHC or SOHC? Cause unless its a V8 with a SOHC on each head, then I have no idea what a "dual sohc" is? I dont know if you can get a 1.8L more peppy with out a turbo, SC, or NOS? Not unless you got some $$$. Guy

Wheres the pics! Oh and I hope you dont mean a T-5 from a datsun...cause if so its not going to last long behind that 360. Guy

I know exactly what you are going threw. When I was 17 my father died at the age of 62 from a heart attack. The really bad part is I didnt even meet my dad till I was 11. My parents divorced when I was 4. Me, my mom and my sister moved back to wisconsin and my dad stayed out in CA. So I took his death very hard because I never really got to know him. At age 17 you shouldnt have to deal with your fathers death. Then 2 months later my gradma(my dads mom) died. She could deal with her sons death either and I think that finally pushed her over the edge. The only "good" thing that came of my fathers death was he left me his 1980 Datsun 280ZX. I know he'd probably roll over in his grave right now if he saw what I've done to his car! I treat it as 1/2 mine...1/2 his. Its still got the old school look that he liked to it but its got the modern muscle that I need. I know its hard to beleive now but things will get better. Just try to think about all the fun times you had. Try not to be down about it for too long. I know I was and it didnt help me get over it any faster. Hope you feel better soon! Guy

RCNSC, sorry if I seemed out of line but I do take a little offense when someone calls the car I am driving around in basically a POS. I agree that everyone can and should have their opinion. Thanks Metro! Guy -

I don't think pissing off a bunch of 280ZX/300ZX owners is friendly, respectful, or courteous. Opinions like this need to be kept to yourself! Guy -

) Took the words right out of my mouth! Yeah the S130 is a little on the heavy side but with 400HP who cares! LOL Guy -
When I go to work on Monday I will see if I can print out a copy of the diagnostic procedure for a code 45, from SHOPKEY(same kind of program as, ALLDATA, MICHELE ON DEMAND,ETC). Guy

Yeah you would think that when a customer who has been soooooo loyal like myself you would get the order right. I have spend thousands of dollars with them! Up untill the last 6 months or so I have had no problems. But my last 2 orders now have been messed up and this time it really pissed me off because I really need that brake hose! I think I will tell them to overnight that hose. I will call tomorrow and see what I can have done. Guy

Ok I understand that when you order parts from companies that sometimes you get the wrong stuff. No one is perfect right? Well when I ordered my body kit for my 1980 280ZX(NA) I told them that I needed the kit for the 280ZXT because my exhaust exits out of the drivers side not the passenger side like. The kit for the 280ZXT has the hole cut out on the drivers side not the passenger side like the 280ZX(NA). I told the guy on the phone this multiple times to make sure that I got the right kit. I thought ok "I think I enphasized that enough, I should get the right stuff". Well 3 weeks later when I got the kit(they said it would be a while because they were waiting on a shipment of the pieces), sure enough I got the 280ZX(NA) kit with the wrong rear bumper! Now I wasnt too mad because I knew that I wasnt going to be attaching it for a while but I was still a little mad because I really tried to make sure that they understood what I needed. Now they did make it better and send me the right one and have FEDEX pick up the old one but it was still a PITA! Now a few months later I needed to order a new passenger rear brake line. I have the SS brake lines on my car. So I called them up and ordered a passenger rear brake line for my car. The guy on the phone asked me 2 times which one I needed and both times I said passenger rear for a 1980 280ZX. So he says ok I've got it in stock and I get it shipped out. That was on Tuesday. So today I get my order and when I opened the box.......what do I find........a DRIVERS SIDE rear brake line!!!!! Now I will have to wait anther week to get my car back on the road! Thats what really pisses me off! My car has been down for a month now because of this brake line and because I had to reseal my power steering gear box and install new lines. I have really been anxious to drive my car again but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Sorry had to vent! Guy

Ok what I am getting from all the info that you have supplied is that either, 1. your wiring from your igintion switch is bad or 2. your igntion switch is bad. I know you said you replace the wiring from the ignition switch to the "S" terminal but you never said if you replaced all the wiring or just the part that is in the engine compartment? Oh and when you are using that wire to start it do you have the key in teh "ON" position? Cause if not then, no your car will not stay started. Atleast now you know its not the starter or the solenoid. Oh and moving the solenoid will not fix your problem. Although it wont hurt it either to move it away from the exhaust heat. Guy

Sorry to hear that you have to sell your car. That just means with your next one you can go LS1! Good luck with your recovery! Guy
-
So you connected a 12ga wire from battery + to the "S" terminal on the starter? Guy

Another good (best) rust coating/protection product?!
80LS1T replied to Tim240z's topic in Non Tech Board
Well I dont have ANY rust on my car but that looks like good protection to keep the rust off of my car. Let us know how it works for you. Does it apply as easy as it says it does? Stuff like that! Guy -
Looks to me like someone was trying to take a $20 pair of jackstands and make a few bucks on them by putting "Z" logo on it. I dont think Nissan ever made jack stands? Guy

WOW NICE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love everything on your car! Guy

What is the exact wording of the Code 45 from the Haynes manual? If it says a leaking injector it might not mean externally leaking it might mean the injector is leaking internally cause that cylinder to run extra rich. Does your car have an IAC, idle air control motor? If it does take it out and see if its ok. I have seen IAC's do this exact concern. If the IAC is not working all the time it will cause the car to die when you are not pressing on the gas pedal. Guy
