  1. Maybe you can make a road trip of it... visit the caves, wildlife refuge, riverwalk, horse races... things like that. A word to the wise: Don't bother with Austin. It's full of politicians... and... stuff.
  2. attworth... yes, I'll post links to pics of everything tonight along with prices. I'm at work right now though. Depending on how many parts you buy it may be worth the fuel and time to pic them up. Perhaps more importantly... you can see what you're getting before spending any cash beyond fuel cost. BTW, I'm in the N.E. area in Converse just a couple miles east of I-35 so that makes it easier. If you decide to pick parts up I'll meet you on I-35 and you can follow me to my house.
  3. Hey SpeedRacer... I hope to have my old Alpha 1 looking a sweet as yours soon. My shorts get tight everytime I see a GTO that nice... must have something to do with those sweet voluptuous curves.
  4. Roger... yes, you're absolutely right. It's definitely the master cylinder. I read the 2nd post better than I did the OP, LOL!!
  5. attworth... Yes, I'll post some links to pics tonight. I'll need to do a little research before I can quote prices but I'll be very reasonable. BTW, shipping large auto parts can be pricey and carrier availability can become problematic. Probably the most economical method is via bus. Is that okay with you?
  6. I have everything you're looking for in fiberglass but I don't have a dashboard. The doors are ultra-lightweight... basically empty skins and would need some reinforcement to hold up over time and you'll need side bars. You can add sliding Lexan windows if desired. I also have a nice set of rear flares. The doors and one hood are from a Bob Sharp kit, I think. Perhaps I shouldn't have posted this as I can't sell them as economically as your wish list indicates.
  7. Well, I have to say I feel a l'il bit biatch-slapped but I'm okay now. No offense taken, BTW. I don't intend to pee in anyone's punch but I doubt anyone is going to pay more than a few hundred dollars for an empty shell that needs work. If it was taken to bare metal on a rotisserie, thoroughly repaired, freshly epoxy primed, reassembled and most of the prep work done then I'd say it's worth a small fortune to the right buyer "IF" it's photo documented. I didn't "have to sell" the 260 shell. I just didn't want to see it rot in the driveway. I didn't "unload it" either. I sold it to an eager buyer who says he's going to completely restore it rotisserie style. Anyway... that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  8. I knew a Miss Hottie once. But never a Miss Fire. My loss...
  9. Holy cripes... I'm no longer a Nerf Herder. I'm now HZ member of the frickin' week. I guess I must be one bad-a$$ SOB. Damm I must be really good!! In fact, I'm practically a HZ God. I'm almost... lump in my throat... I'm almost... eyes welling up... I'm almost... tears streaming now... I'm ALMOST... a BRAAP!!!
  10. If they're going to have independently digitally controlled valves they should do away with springs and as much reciprocating mass and friction as is possible. They should go with rotary valves. This eliminates the need for excessive torque needed to open and close typical reciprocating spring-loaded valves and promotes nearly immediate accuracy. Yes... if I could develop this technology I would be a millionaire. Story of my life...
  11. I just sold a really nice almost completely rust-free early '74 rolling shell... no motor or tranny or interior... but w/ R200, mustache bar, half shafts, and drive shaft... plus very nice unbroken center console and a very decent dash with guages... plus two extra wheels (total six). Add a FG cowl hood needing minor repair and a custom-made rear cross bar all for a grand total of... ...$650 picked up to someone just north of me in Texas.
  12. May just be a vacuum leak. Did you check the hose for cracks and its connection to the MC? EDIT: Roger is correct. If there is definitely no leak then this is a failed master cylinder.
  13. There are third party vendors that will take your "bid" to buy delivery. They add a fee and advertise the job. I paid $400 in 2006 to have a Z delivered from mid NM to south TX. Be sure you hire a bonded/insured driver and thoroughly inspect on delivery. The trucker bent my frame rails and floor pans. I was too ignorant to know what to look for so he got by with it. Oh... and patience is a must for both buyer and seller. The process may take a few weeks. Be sure you have a signed agreement from the seller to hold the vehicle in safe storage with full insurance to be paid to you in case of damage or theft while still in their possession. Umm... that's about it, I think...
  14. I'm paying an indivual here to paint mine... much better quality becuase he's doing the prep/finish work and at about the same price. I'll probably splurge a bit on paint though.
  15. SpeedRacer... Thank you for the "O" ring suggestion. That actually looks better than the rubber gaskets and I'll bet it seals just as well. That's a nice clean look!! And this may save some refinishing expense on the escutcheons. UPDATE: The screen name of the guy who may do the button refinishing is Porter. The good news is he hopes to have an estimate in a couple of days. The so-so news is there will only be one set left available. The good news is it'll be at actual cost.
  16. It seems we are making progress on refinishing the three sets I have. KEN (I can't remember his HZ screen name) is forwarding pics that I emailed to him to his shop for an estimate... (hopefully) the price is affordable. I'LL have one set as well as KEN and I believe FILMJAY & TOMOHAWK expressed interest as well. I don't know how to be fair to both TOMOHAWK & FILMJAY. BTW, I'm not looking for any profit... just to break even. Total cost including original price and shipped from Canada ($20/set) plus shipping to Ken (~$3/set) plus refinishing (? cost ?) plus return shipping here ($5/set) plus shipping to you (~$5)... something like $50 delivered. Seems a little high but considering the brand new finish and their rarity it's not bad. Keep in mind additional re-keying and new key cost once the set arrives there.
  17. The meaning was that I would ship the parts to you because you have the resources there to do the job. However, someone named Ken may take over the door button refinishing. I'm emailing him detailed pics today so he can get an estimate from his shop. PM me with your email address if you want pics too.
  18. You'll need the door skins too. Where did you find it, if you don't mind me asking?
  19. Hey, I like Kiwis... just don't want to eat them all. The little green fruit are nice but the others... no thanks!!!
  20. I'm not going to ask any questions of you, Grumpy, as you already confuse me enough as it is.
  21. G-damm it... Some bastage admin (thank you, David) f-ed up my... whatever that thingy is.
  22. ??? I don't understand what I'm seeing on those links ???
