  1. There should be a remote-on wire on the amp. Connect the amp + directly to the battery and use a switched source for the remote-on.
  2. As others already alluded to it's easier and cheaper to go SBC. There are several bolt-on conversions on the market and basic SBC's are a dime a dozen plus performance parts abound for them in the used market. But to each his own. For a look at some nice Z-car porn check out blueovalz's 289 conversion.
  3. This information should be organized and moved into an existing sticky.
  4. Pugs are great little dogs but prone to sinus and hip problems.
  5. Yeah, I know. BTW, my Z is up on stands right now which is as slow as it could possibly be, LOL!!
  6. Congrats!! So... you have "everything you need", do you??? LOL, oh man that's rich!! Hah, hah, hah.... (big belly laugh). The joke's on you, my friend, because you'll NEVER have "everything you need" for your Z!!
  7. You need to forget about rear view mirrors and put the cash into more speed. Then you'll have no need to see behind you at all.
  8. ^^^ +1 on the E85... allows you to get rid of the separate alky injection too.
  9. How fast were you goin'? No wonder he's so weird-lookin'!!
  10. ^^^ Nah... bubble gum is better. Don't give the lad bad advice!!
  11. Here's another thought. You could advertise in your local craigslist asking to use someone else's tubing bender for a small fee. They may even help you. Who knows... you might even get this done for free??
  12. CD's suck as do gov't bonds. These are only good for those who already have more than they need at or near retirement and don't want or need to invest in high-risk/high-yield markets. I have everything in my 401K going into high-risk investments. Low-risk investments generally don't have the yields necesarry to surpass inflation to promote capital growth. It's been a wild ride for my funds lately but the market will eventually recover. My behind hurts today though... and YMMV. EDIT: My 401K is in the form of a gov't Thrift Savings Plan and I have my investments split evenly between the C (Common stock), S (Small cap), and I (International stock) funds. So yeah... I'm not in full control of my investments but that's probably a good thing these days.
  13. If this is for a one-time use you may be better off shopping around for a local shop to do the work for you. Just make sure they'll work closely with you and back up their work.
  14. Yeah... those Kiwis are pretty darned capable!!
  15. The wheels alone (cleaned up) are worth a couple hundred and, if the steering wheel is as nice as the pic shows, I'll bet it's worth another $50. I'm guessing you could scrap the rest for the steel for another couple hundred. I'll bet there are many other salvagible parts though. BTW, there's someone asking for those door scuff plates in the adverts right now!!
  16. Ya' know... if I'd seen this car before I went SBC I may have gone turbo RB30. That is one bada$$ Z. And I LOVE the way it sounds.
  17. Pickled tripe?? Man, your way too far north for that. Try the border towns. But leave your precious Z at home along with all your young daughters unless you have a gazillion dollars for ransom. San Antonio, on the other hand, is safe (for now at least) but the tripe is only available in the south side of town. I only go there for the......
  18. You're absolutely correct, Grumpy. However, we do not deny our ba$tard step children and we do our best to own up to our miskates. ALL human beings deserve quality barbecue regardless of their heritage. ALL human beings deserve a ride in a scarey-fast Z regardless of their Yankiness or Calihornyness. ALL human beings deserve to be treated with the proper respect afforded to them regardless of their trashy upbringing. Gee whizz, man, not everyone has the good fortune of being a natural borned Texan.
  19. You're all wrong. Everything on this continent is just another Texas county.
  20. Well, you're wrong anyway, Grumpy. Even though the days of the week and "yesterday" all end with Y, "tomorrow" does not. This creates a frightening paradox... you're never grumpy tomorrow but you were always grumpy yesterday. This kind of makes me worry about that whole time-space continuum thingy.
  21. San Antonio, TX is nice. It's not as pretty as some areas but it's very nice and the community is great. The cost of living is low and there are things to do in the area too. There are places to hunt and fish... lakes, etc. There's a river walk downtown and Schlitterbaun is just a few miles north in New Braunfels. Plus you can visit the Alamo where Santa Anna kicked our but*s. This area is growing by leaps and bounds with more government entities coming and others expanding. Big corporations are moving their offices here to lower costs. Our area didn't really experience the real estate losses that many others did due to this growth.
