In 1974 I had the pleasure of driving my race preppped Mini Cooper around Nuremburgring as well as Hockenheim, though nowhere near as fast as that video nor as precision.

I scammed a scammer on autotrader with the same story only for a 2002 BMW M3. I strung them along for two weeks, then contacted Autotrader and told them the add was a scam. It was gone in less than a day.

I paid $60 for my 600 DP used, but in good working condition. If that one is in need of a rebuild, price it accordingly.

This is what I did with my lack of space on my 79 ZX. It is a modified Throttle body hat from a Dodge Dakota with a 5.9L engine. I am also running a Taurus 2 speed fan.

I paid $800 for mine, in rust free running condition 8 years ago.

My 350 came from a 91 GMC G-30 one ton van, with 30k on a rebuilt motor. I purchased it for $550, and removed what I needed. I sold the body for $150 and the 4L80e trans for $500. This gave me my motor, assorted parts, and $100 in my pocket. I gave the aluminum driveshaft to Grumpyvette for one of his projects. Look around, those deals are out there.

This morning I received this e-mail from my son (Marine in Iraq) who was injured last Thursday, thought I would pass it along to all those who were praying for him. hi dad, i think im gunna be coming home. everyone here was wondering why i came back when i got here like they were supprised. all the guys looked at me like they had just seen a ghost and i asked them why. they just said i should be. i guess there was nothing left of the humvee. cpl sparkman said we went 30-40 feet in the air from the blast. it was 5 mortar rounds ( 2 155 rounds, 2 130 rounds and a 130mm rocket. he said there was no floor where my feet were and they couldnt find any part of the humvee if front of that other than the engine. the debris was spread over 300m away. my guardian angle was definately looking over me and protected me. mcvicker and raines memorial service is on the 19th so il be here for that. its wierd with them gone. raines used to sleep on the bunk under me and now its empty. i feel like he should be there. my eye is still blurry. everything is on an angle compaired to my other eye too. i think it will be a while until its back to the way it was. well, i gotta get going for now. i hope to see you in a few weeks. chris This is in reference to this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104930

The JTR Manual, along with the Haynes Manual for a ZX, and a little common sense should get you just about everything you need to do the conversion. And what you don't have is available on this site. Though the wiring and wire colors aren't exactly the same, the JTR manual is very helpful with the basic concept for the wiring as well as for the fuel, driveline, and cooling systems.

Thank you, everyone, Chris and his unit need all the prayers they can get. Just an update. Their interpreter was also killed. Chris' elbow is broken, it is the type of break that affects the nerves to his lower arm and hand. Right now he has very limited mobility/use of his hand. It's now becoming apparent that there is some hearing loss, also. The doctors give him excellent odds for a full recovery. The hardest thing he is having to deal with is the fact that he lost two of his buddies, and the fact that all three around him were killed and he walked away. Again, thank you all for the warm wishes.

Thanks, guys. He will make a full recovery. He will also stay in Iraq for his full tour. His injuries aren't severe enough to release him from his tour duty.

Last night at 11:00 we received a call from a military representative telling us that our son (Marine in Iraq) was injured on a mission and that they would get back to us later today with more information. !!!!!! How do you go back to sleep after a call like that? At 3:30 this morning we received a call from our son. He was pulling convoy security for operation "Iron Fist", when his Humvee was hit by a IED. He was least injured as he was sitting on the drivers side back seat. The two in the front were both killed, the marine manning the 50 cal. had both ankles shattered. No word on their interpreter, who was on the passenger side rear seat. My son has lacerations on his right leg and hand, a mild skull fracture, burns on his face and fragments/oil in his eyes and a possible broken elbow. He is back at their home base to recuperate. He requested that we ask as many people as possible to pray for him and the other Marines in his unit.

Several years ago, I had a Mazda 626 5door touring sedan. One morning I was on my way to work, on a back country road. This road had tall brush right up to the edge of the pavement. I was going about 55mph when all of a sudden a huge buck came out of the ditch and brush at a full run, nothing I could do. His front shoulder hit the front fender between the bumper and front tire. His hind quarters hit the passenger side window, showering me with glass. He hit my car so hard that it spun me sideways in the street. I started to get out to check on the deer when he jumped up and ran off, into the woods at a full run. My headlights illuminated his flight through the woods. The whole passenger side of my car was destroyed and the deer wasn't even hurt... ... Two weeks later, on my way to work, on this same road, I came over this rise in the road, only to see this same 10 point buck standing in the middle of the road, right at the same location where I hit him two weeks earlier. Standing there, taunting me.

I also have my ZX insured with Haggerty. They have insured it for $10,000. Costs me $300/yr. They just required pictures of the car and the mods, as well as a list of mods. You must have a different primary vehicle for daily transportation. Your Haggerty insured car must also be garaged. Milage was not an issue. I had to predict how many miles I would be driving it (<3000 miles/yr in my case). -
It's pretty obvious from that pic that they could'nt drive before.

Speeking of fast farm vehicles, a friend of mine used to have a '55 Massy-Harris with twin Crower injected 440 Chryslers in it. He used it for tractor pulling. One time I followed him to the neighbor's farm, so he could get something mig welded on it. He was going 70+ down a gravel road (70 is all the faster I dared to go, and he was pulling away). They say the modified tractor pullers rear tires are going 200+ miles per hour during a pull. -
My son just bought a 2005 Suzuki GSX/R 1000. 180hp, 365 lb. The first time he got on it, he ran it to fourth gear, looked at his speedo, and decided that was more than enough... 176mph. He still had two more gears!

Mike, What was the problem with your trans and what was the fix? I haven't torn into mine yet.

Be proud of your son. I too, miss doing things with my son. He is in the Marines. He is presently home on pre-deployment leave so I am doing as much as I can with him. In August, his unit goes back to Iraq for the second time.
