  1. yep, I'll be moving right near Dayton. Work will be based out of Xenia, so I'm open to suggestions on where to look for cheap housing with a big garage!
  2. Yes, you are correct, In fact the 87-88 z31t trannies are identical to the RB25 tranny with the exception of the bell bolt pattern. I see no reason you couldnt use a 87-88 tranny for this. I dont think it will make a tranny mount any easier, but if all you're concerned about is the shifter location then there ya go. the 87-88 trannies are just typically harder to find . . . I'll drop a hint though . . . Im not 100% positive but I think that the Later VG30e 2wd pathfinders may have used this "shorter" transmission. Someone needs to check it out. In a similar way, the nissan trucks, hardbody's,etc. used a shorter version of the "C box" tranny aka 240sx tranny. The "stubby C box" if you will . . . Isnt Ricks Pathy a 2wd? roll up under there and check it out. . .
  3. I believe its 1/2" Ken. And yes they machined out exactly the thickness of the adaptor.
  4. haha, moving for work, which I'm excited about . . . Ohio on the other hand. Some of the ohio guys need to chime in and tell me how great it is . . . . All I keep thinking is the end of the Drew Carey show where it echoes . . . Ohio . . .ohio . . .ohio HAHA
  5. oh its been a year ago now . . . with another move around the corner. It'll be ohio this time around.
  6. I was just thinking back to the old days when I first did my L28et swap in '02. So I started reading through some old posts . . . This thread was from the very first SEZ event in Montgomery. James ended up beating ScottieGNZ by .02 while running an 11.26 at 129mph. I mean that was 4 years ago and James was running my times with quite a bit more MPH. Meanwhile I was puttering down the track to a 14.9 WOOHOO! Man those were the good ol days . . . http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=75061
  7. nope, we never got the DET. That is the single cam CA18et. . . At any rate will the car be available for scavenging at the end of the month? I've got an S12 at home that could use some parts and I'll be coming through there.
  8. unfortunately for me, they seem to last alot longer on the automatic cars since they can preload. Like I said, I'm gonna give it another shot I think mine just had a hard life and it was time. Thanks for your insight Jmortensen, I havent done much work with diffs yet. This was the stock one that came in my 280.
  9. Dang it, i wish I'd known when I was up there on Sat!
  10. lookin good Phil. Lets see another L28 in the 11's!!
  11. In that case I seem to have reached the limits of my right rear brake light as well!
  12. What are you guys talking about? I'm uber-gentle with my ride . . . HEHEHE.
  13. haha thanks mike! no wonder he's been bugging me for the raw footage. youre right though, my car weighs about 2730 with me in it.
  14. I havent gotten it apart yet. It makes almost no noise when under load. But SO loud with partial throttle and decel.
  15. I drive this car alot, long trips and all. After messing with the pinks car . . . I definitely wont be welding it. I really cant say with any certainty how much the open diff has been hurting me. Thats good news though, there is a 280z in a junkyard near my house.
  16. I am totally fine with you going faster than me . . . as long as I'm in front of you. HAHA.
  17. Hmm hard to say about the power dropping early . . . When I first swapped a L28et into my 280z it was BONE stock, boost and everything. I was pulling very similar mph as you. Right at 90mph. My best et with that was a 14.9 So I imagine you just need a bit more seat time. I think you're making enough power already for 13's. . .
  18. Yeah I know guys. It would be nice for sure . . . my best 60' in this car so far is a 1.63 with this open diff. I just need more money . . . haha I just drained the oil and it had metal everywhere . . . but my cv's had also come a little loose so it could be a combination. Sorry to say it but I'm prolly gonna throw in another 3.54 for now. Off the top of your head guys, what years did the 3.54 come in?
  19. The guy with the 350z says it was 5 cars . . .
  20. Yeah I'll try and at least drain the fluid out of it tonight . . . I'd like to find another 3.54
  21. hehe, Bigmama . . . . umm its a .70 A/R TO4S housing. I used that 1/2" spacer and its still very close. . .
