  1. I agree that the sanding and bodywork is tedious but I have to admit I love the smell of fiberglass filler. Not sure why, maybe its because when I was about 13 I had a part time job with a boat/plane builder. The warehouse always smelled like fiberglass.
  2. glad to see you're still alive and kickin Scotty! Looks good so far!
  3. My post was in reply to this question. Also last I checked Methanol has gone up to around $4 a gallon, which is still totaly worth it.
  4. I've had both on an engine stand in my garage and that vh is a big beast. I'd think it was heavier . . . however I was ENTIRELY suprised how light some of the new Ford mudular v8 aluminum blocks are. It honestly felt half as heavy as an L block. Both the Vh and the ford blocks are 90 degree v8's, I'd think they might be in the same neighborhood in terms of weight.
  5. Its not my primary fuel, but I inject methanol at about 20% of my total fuel. Anyways, I've done a good amount of research on methanol. We all know its a higher octane, that it has great cooling properties and that its stoich is about half of what gasoline is. But what i didnt know was that it actually ends up producing more energy than gasoline. Acording to this article Methanol is approx. 9500 btu's/lb as opposed to gasoline at 18,400. But since you run over double the amount of meth as you do gasoline it produces more total btu's of energy than gasoline. In my experience and that of other friends of mine, the more methanol you use the more power it makes, even if you maintain the same air/fuel ratio. This article breaks it down: http://www.smokemup.com/tech/fuels.php Also VP fuels is now producing an oxygenated version of their Methanol called "M3". I've gone through about 2-3 gallons so far and while I havent confirmed at the dyno yet, it seems to be making even more power (higher trap speeds) than regular methanol.
  6. I'm revisiting this thread because it just happened again! This last time, I was so fed up that I JB Welded the plugs in. Perhaps I didnt get this one very well since its on the manifold side of the block. So now I have to yank everything apart to replace it. Why the crap does this keep happening?! EDIT: I was just re-reading through this thread, there are several good ideas about this but how can i rightly discern which theory is actually taking place?
  7. Alex what tranny did you guys end up using behind your 500+hp SR?
  8. Yeah I've never figured it out, the hood hinge is all screwy, you can push it down but then it pops back up when driving. Yes, I wore out the tires on the other set and I had these with brand new ones on em, haha.
  9. haha, good deal, I actually live right in Xenia.
  10. Phil, listen to me . . . . Alkycontrol Methanol Injection.
  11. EDIS all the way! Get that distributor out of there!
  12. hah, if she had her way we'd be driving another Camry around . . . boring. Anyways, we just moved up near Dayton, Ohio.
  13. GRRR, why did i move from Florida? and thats my daily driver in the backround, a '96 Platinum Pearl Volvo 850 Turbo. . .

  16. Its clocked because when you sit in the seat you cant see redline behind the steering wheel. Same for me. Time to go back to the wood school bus steering wheel I guess.
  17. I can understand what it does in theory, I've just not seen any need for it. I'm not sure exactly what boost level TimZ is running these days, but I've never heard of anyone running more than about what I'm running. Kinda has me curious actually. I wonder if the head would lift or anything crazy as you ran over 30 psi. I just couldnt justify the money Yasin.
  18. It must be some indication though correct? Even if not exact? I would assume that the higher static compression ratio, a general rule would be that your number measured in a compression test would be higher.
  19. Time for some DR's . . . 1.8 is about the best i've seen from most guys here using street tires.
  20. Dang John, If i recall your car is making some decent power, you should definitely be pulling some 1.7-1.8's in that thing . . .
  21. I say no Yasin, I dont have any kind of coating on my setup. I'm just a minimalist when it comes to this kind of stuff. My motor is happy at 26.5psi.
  22. I'm a little curious why you wouldnt have seen a change in AFR's? At the same boost level that turbo should be flowing a good bit more air.
  23. I still have alot to learn about launching my car especially with the new MT's that I just got. so far I've managed a 1.61 60' (consistent 1.65's) with an open 3.54 R200, 280zx CV's, 200# springs with autozone struts, with coilovers the car is usually pretty slammed in the rear which probably doesnt help all that much. Really I just want to get used to these new tires for some 1.5's but I know that my 60's will improve and be much more consistent as soon as I can get a two-step on the car . . .
