  1. haha this thread is almost 2 years old guys . . .
  2. I agree with Evan as far as getting a progressive system. I like alkycontrol.com because its progressive and the components are better. All lines are braided steel instead of those small nylon lines I've seen on the snow kits. Also several companies I've seen use the SureFlo pumps but Julio(alkycontrol) takes them apart and rebuilds them using methanol safe seals etc. These pumps are designed for agricultual uses, i.e. water and the methanol can eat em up over time. just my .02
  3. Sounds great, I'd love to see this happen! That motor is capable of making some rediculous power.
  4. I SERIOUSLY doubt 20% of his total fuel is meth. You would probably have to be running twin nozzles to accomplish that. At any rate I'm pretty sure he has taken fuel out to compensate for the meth. Gotta say I expected more Phil . . . compression is good and everything? I remember putting down 274whp and over 300ft lbs with a stock turbo at 15psi, stock ECU, etc etc. With a holset at over 20psi you should be alot closer to 400whp. Something is definitely up . . . I just reread your thread about the cam you tried out . . . you sure the cam timing is all hunky dory? (yeah i just said hunky dory)
  5. gabe, I say helicoil that beast and dont bother wrapping the mani. On my last head I just drilled em all out and heli-coiled em all.
  6. Well I've seen people do it both ways, before or after the meth nozzle. I have my IAT mounted in my intake manifold so it shows me what kind of affect the meth is having on temps(lol it also shows me just how much heat soak i get when i turn the car off at the gas station!) Only you have to be careful not to place the IAT to close to the meth nozzle, I was getting some error codes because the meth was spraying directly on the sensor so make sure its downstream a ways. So you're saying your meth is not progressive based on manifold pressure? No progressive controller?
  7. Well hitting 400whp on a stock bottom end is certainly doable. About 1 year ago I was down in Mobile and gave Ivan280zt a run and I believe he was making in the 450whp range on a stock bottom end although he had a big Kahuna turbo and nice intake and exhaust manifolds. I've noticed that when running methanol the car still pulls plenty hard at AFR's that you would think are way too rich. Normally the car would probably break up a bit when its that rich but with meth . . . . Also I would try and tune the car for around 11.3 or so. Since stoich for meth is lower your total AFR target should come down as well. What size nozzle are you running? How high is the gain turned up on your controller? Can you tell me what your intake temps are under full boost?
  8. Cool deal man! Im in Ohio now but grew up in FL and am back there frequently. If you are going to be in the cape/orlando area there are plenty of good zcar guys for you to get with. Zgad, ScottieGNZ, Speeder(rick bowers) and several others are all right there. Good luck with the move!
  9. Yeah, my autometer gauge does that as well. Always thought it was pretty cool watching the gauge plummet when the thermostat opens. Weve had some decently cold whether here in Ohio (20-30 degrees) and sometimes my gauge doesnt get above 140 degrees when cruising.
  10. I've considered a potential volvo motor swap. I had heard that this swap had been done. They actually made this same inline 6 in a RWD version in the Volvo 960 without turbos. I'm curious if they dont just use an s80 t6 head bolted on a RWD NA inline 6 block. A transmission is an issue as well if you're looking for a manual. As you can see on that site, the manual they are using had to have an adaptor made. As far as I know the 960 was only offered with an automatic. Not sure about huge power numbers as these are open deck design blocks so they'd have to be sleeved for big numbers . . .
  11. I have wanted to do the Chevy 4.2 liter for a long time. Very few people have messed with them so far but I think that will change eventually. Here's a picture of the only guy that has given it a shot. This setup has been 8.62@174mph. I know it competed in the 03 or 04 Hot Rod Pump Gas Drags event. link to some info: http://www.wiresandpliers.com/recentprojects.html
  12. Yep I also live in Xenia about 20 min away form Dayton. My Z is hibernating in Michaels garage but hopefully not for long. I am planning on attending the DNI event with the car to try and crack into the 10's with the old L motor. PM me and I'll give you my phone number. Like Michael said perhaps we can get a little hybridz meet goin.
  13. Just now saw this John. Congrats! Its about time you got that thing sorted out! I guess I better get to work huh? Again, congrats I know how stoked you must be.
  14. Sorry man, still scratching my head on this one. Car has been down for several months since I blew the last one. I'm gonna JB weld it in good this time.
