  1. just run meth injection dude, I have regularly seen intake temps 20 degrees below ambient.
  2. Its only been a couple years since I painted mine Spectra Blue Mica. Beautiful color in direct sunlight but at any other time it really doesnt do much for the lines of the car. I think the s30 needs something bright that can show off the curves.
  3. you're right it didnt seem like it was a full quarter, but theres also NO chance that car is running 8's in the 1/8 mile. Weird.
  4. I didnt intend for it to be a challenge but if you want to surprise me then go for it . . . thats what HybridZ is all about.
  5. I dont think it takes quite that much. I'm making 460whp out of my L28 without much done to the motor itself. completely stock head/cam/valvetrain, motor is bored .080" over with Ross forged pistons, stock 240z rods, stock crank, ARP hardware and a metal headgasket. Alot of the supporting hardware (fuel supply, exhaust, etc) is gonna cost $$ either way you go. Since we're talking about actually driving our cars in this thread, I love that i can pick up and drive my Z anywhere and get 28mpg. I dont know many v8's that can boast both the 1/4mile times, hp numbers AND MPG numbers. All out race car, the V8 is hard to beat. A car you actually take long trips on? Like I said I get 28mpg cruising and I run the car on pump gas and 25 pounds of boost every day.
  6. Its all good Lance, we had fun. I'm glad you were there.
  7. I cant even remember how many times I've taken long trips in my Z. Constantly sums it up pretty well. Ask any of the SEZ guys, I usually put 1000+ miles on my Z for those weekends. Drive it to the event, beat the crap out of it and then drive it home. Went up to Alabama 2 weekends ago. About 900miles or so. The L has definitely been good to me on road trips.
  8. Car had to be jumped because we ran the electric fans during a nearly hour long negotiation.
  9. Its been done several times without much trouble from what I understand. Check out Club-s12.org for more info
  10. Cool Tim. I actually just learned that the other day from a buddy. That injectors are rated at 3 bar. I thought that they were rated at whatever base psi was on their particular application.
  11. Paul your theory certainly sounds feasible, however I've had this happen with both a stock gasket and a 2mm Metal headgasket (retorqued several times). Also, every time its happened to me the car has been fully warmed up. The only thing that I can really say is common in everytime is that I was doing a burnout (3 times) or accelerating in a low gear (once) AKA very rapid increase in revs. Dunno if thats helpful in figuring it out or not. I will say this, I've not seen any other evidence of headgasket leaking other than that I see small specs of a copper color floating on top of my coolant when I open the cap. Only thing I can think of is that I used liberal amounts of copper spray on my Metal HG when I installed it.
  12. yeah, you popped it on the bad side too, gotta take the manifolds off so you can whack a new one in with a hammer. I've heard numerous people now tell me not to use silicone to put them in. If i was doing it again, I think I'd put them in dry and then JB weld over them, around the rim. If you go that route, go ahead and throw some JB weld over the others as well. I've not had any more problems and I been beating the crap outta the car.
  13. I've had mine installed for about a year now, the only problem I had with the install was the top hole for the poly mount was off. I ended up slotting it a bit to get it just right.
  14. 13 sec? TV makes stuff look slow. The pinks car could only manage 370whp on the dyno and still trapped 124mph. On the show we had a misfire but the car was still trapping in the 114-117 range. I watched it as well. I know we lost and some bad things went down afterwards but all I have is good memories . . .
  15. well because I'm using the z32 trans i had to use a longer clutch slave line (240sx) well when i got under there it looks like in addition to my fluid issues the line had gotten kinked up a bit. A few quick adjustments to the line and a good flush/bleed job and its 10x better. Looking forward to the next time at the track now.
  16. cool guys thanks for the ideas. I appreciate it.
  17. My buddy has a CBR600F4i and when I was around 360whp or so I put about 2 cars on him from a roll. Granted from a dig it might have been a different story, hehe. I'd love to have his bike though . . . .
  18. Reliability wise, I'm guessing this is where the LSx swap really shines!
  19. maybe i havent said it clearly so far. I'm really not having ANY other cooling issues other than this, thats why its weird. No filling of the overflow, no blown or highly pressurized hoses, no overheating, etc . . . I've talked with a few people now and they all kind of concur that I shouldnt have used silicone when installing them in the first place, too slippery i guess.
  20. hehe, INTERESTING Kill, woulda liked to see that one!
  21. yeah its definitely full, but that definitely makes sense if that means its water in there. I'll get it bled asap and respond back.
  22. I'm having some disengagement issues with my clutch at the moment. Dont think its disengaging fully. Anyways there appears to be no leaking of clutch fluid and the pedal is properly adjusted. But my clutch fluid is black. I'm curious if this could be evidence of fluid blowing by a seal in the master or something? I will try bleeding it out and checking piston travel on the slave in the next day or so I'm just curious about the fluid color.
  23. hmm, I'm not sure on that one, I dont see any other evidence of a HG issue. but i will double check and retorque it again. I suppose its possible the block has a crack in it It did get very hot the first time I popped a plug and warped a head. However it obviously didnt get CRAZY hot because i didnt loose any bearings or have any moving parts damage in the bottom end. At any rate the plugs seem fine now with some JB magic on em, haha.
