We intended to lose the first race, knowing that we would get 60 footed. I turned the boost controller off and bogged it down off the line, if you watch it again he pulled a wheel off the ground and then I drove it hard after that and he let out half track, so there was all kinds of crap going on, LOL.

well youre right the car would not have been magically perfect in 4 hours. We still dont know for sure but the car was exhibiting symptoms of retarded cam timing. Peak power at 4900rpms, overheating(due to mistimed exhaust valves), and fouling the plugs. I believe with 4 hours we would have gotten some fresh plugs in there, which consequently after the car was bought back, I swapped a set in and it ran MUCH better than it did the night of the show. It didnt solve the problem but it would have helped for a short time. You cant really hear it in the show, but that thing was pop pop popping all the way down the track. Races 2,3,4 I actually launched the car very well but you cant really tell cause that Monte was yankin a wheel off the ground! HAHA Anyways what do you think, American Idol my next TV appearance? HAHAHA

Well I've been working on this for awhile and wanted to wait till I had some good info and pics to post. I know its not a Z but its a pretty cool platform to work with! This car came with 7 motor combinations world wide (that I know of) a real testbed for Nissan in the mid-late 80's. Not as sexy as a Z though . . .hehe Its an '87 200sx XE with a CA20e in it. That will soon change. Here is the car when I bought it. Then I cleaned it up a bit and threw some gunmetal wheels on it. Then i went scouting and brought home the VE This is a cool motor. Worldwide it was only offered in the '92-'94 Maxima SE's. Obviously a FWD setup and I'll be using it in a RWD platform so there are some obstacles that I will have to overcome, but I'm well on my way. This motor is essentially a VG30DE bottom with a VH45 top end (heads) just 6 cyl instead of 8. Roller rockers, coil on plug, Variable Valve Timing. Overall similar to a Z32 VG but with more compact heads and the cams are chain driven. A stout little motor. Most Nissan guys have never heard of it. Heres a pic or two of the intake manifold -as that will be one problem. Took the intake manifold off to explore options. I may make a custom intake manifold for this car, LT1 style right down the middle with a twin butterfly TB . . . So my thoughts are to get this motor bolted in with a Z32 trans and clutch, custom driveshaft (1310 spicer stuff), a good standalone (perhaps Megasquirt) and spray it with about 100 shot. I'd like to have a nice clean 300hp daily driver out of it. But then i discovered this . . . Z31 turbo manifolds bolt to this motor, not perfectly, there are a few issues with them but as you can see it could work. So im not sure what to do now, haha. Turbo is definitely more expensive and this motor is 10:1 comp ratio and I'm dumping more money into my Z so . . . prolly NA for now. Anyways Im trying to finish this swap with all Factory Nissan parts and i just got ahold of a VG crossmember and mounts to work with this motor. To my knowledge no one has ever done a FWD --> RWD VE swap into a different car. Well I never intended for this to be a strict BUDGET build but I just cant help it. the Car: $400 The VE30DE (complete) $172 NX wet kit $350 and NOW . . . Z32 5-speed Tranny,Flywheel,Starter,Pressure Plate and Clutch disk = $71.26! So i got the stuff home and got busy . . .heres the results . . . Z32 flywheel and clutch bolted to the VE and the z32 tranny and starter bolted right up! What do you guys think?

Thanks for posting that up man! Not everyday you get a chance to be on TV. HEHE

Scottie, I talked with Mark . . . the previous best for the car was 9.28. At Bradenton the car ran no nitrous and a bit less boost than the 998whp run. and the car made 4 9.2 passes in a row! So the car is looking good for the weekend where I KNOW he'll be turning up the wick!

Hey Guys So all everyone is talking about is my singing, haha. Oh well, goofy can be cool right . . . Anyways, just a heads up about the race. First race was lost on purpose. I turned the boost controller off and bogged it on purpose. Unfortunately they let out and we ended up getting basically nothing for race 2. So in races 3 and 4 I just LAUNCHED it. they were still catching me but it was enough for two wins. Letting them have the bottle back was just suicide, haha, not my department, LOL... Anyways, hope ya'll enjoyed it, I certainly did, lotta fun regardless of the outcome.

I honestly didnt know that you were still interested Ken. I do believe that Mark is making another run of these pretty soon. I know Mike was originally going to have a prototype made, then he sold his L stuff and i heard you were getting the prototype. Then the whole thing seemed to be dropped. I talked to Mark and he said no one had caughed up any money to get the ball rolling. Thats when I stepped in and drove up to Orlando and made a deposit on the first 3 adaptors and dropped off a couple bellhousings and whatnot. Believe me, I dont really want to be the middle man here. Mark just wanted me to help get the first 5 sold so that he could gauge the interest to warrant making more.

So far i have: Myself 240hoke- Austin 280zForce- Justin 70z- Eric Sparks280zt- Mat These were all people that contacted me directly via phone or PM over the past few months. I'll have these guys confirm, right before i go pick them up. If someone cancels I'll post the availability here. I should probably start another thread specifically for these adaptors. Once we get a few of these done and running around on the street, this will probably be something that is carried in stock and wont need a middle man anymore.
-
The first run of 5 adaptors will be finished on the 28th. Unfortunately they are all accounted for. But i already told Mark over at Mazworx this and he is planning on having more made in the next run. Please PM me if anyone is seriously interested and I can explain all the details. I plan on doing a much more thorough write up with pics and all when i install mine in the car.

my '76 280z with L28et swap, IC, 3" exhaust, full interior, Z31 seats, 1/2 tank without me was exactly 2500lbs I think Rick Bowers should chime in, hehehehe. -
sweet ride! I say keep it all volvo and swap in a "T6" 2.8l Twin turbo inline 6 from a 99+ S80 and S60 i think. The RB26 of the volvo world! haha now that would be a blast
