I also noticed that the early 90's subaru's had sohc 16valve heads. here's my quetion: Is there any difference in flow? Like Horsepower limitations due to sohc?
Ok first things first . . . I want to thank Mat for being gracious and spending quite a bit of time/energy on this with me!
Just to clarify and wrap up. I used a 81-83 zx "b-box" belhousing. My KA tranny was from an 89 I believe. The only difference on the bellhousing it would seem is that you only have to open up one of the shift holes to 5/8". I reused the KA front plate and I was able to get that c-clip back onto the input shaft bearing, so no worries there. It shifts nicely through all gears and i should actually have it mounted in the car sometime tonight or tomorrow! Still hoping to make reynolds and a Thurs dyno appointment! AHHHHH!

from my experience, the BW isnt worth it man. They are extremely hard find if you need to replace it and everyone that has one wants way too much money for them. Its still a 20+ year old tranny! Anyways I would do the zx na or just use that bellhousing and swap in a KA tranny. I will be doing this swap this coming weekend. Cheap and they are all over the junkyards. Little research at KA-T.org states that this tranny is good for the 300-500 hp level stock!
I just got too frustrated with the T-5 and finally said "screw it."
If my research is correct . . . at least steps 3 and 4 can be eliminated from your procedure by using a 81-83 zx bellhousing. I have my KA tranny and will be doing this swap in the next 2 weeks.
"Bubba" was at the Chicago motor speedway for the RSR Drift Day. Very impressive!
Even compared to a 600hp Supra, he by far produced the most smoke. Crazy torque monster!
Mat that is hilarious, how come we dont get invited to these kinda parties where you make a fool of yourself . . . oh wait we did just a few weeks ago! haha
Just kidding bro!
John,
You need to get this car running!! I am coming down in a few weeks and I want a Ride! Heck I wanna race ya, just for fun. I should be poppin some low 12's by then, and you're still gonna walk me
