  1. Checked timing, and it is good. Checked for leaks in my piping to and from the turbo, and everything is good. Any ideas guys? I find it hard to believe that changing my intake piping can lead to this. All I did was cut open some room for the piping so I can also fit the intercooler piping, worked with piping to and from the AFM, and that is about it......
  2. Regardless of what rear you have, I suggest getting a 5-speed in there. The 4-speed has terribly short gears. I had one in my 280z after I converted it to manual and 65mph with a 3.54 rear was about 3500rpm. Once the 5-speed was in the gears lasted a lot longer and dropped rpm significantly. Can't tell you for sure before I also swapped in a new harness and the tach is not working.
  3. Hey guys, I have had my l28et swap running for a few months now and everything has been great. Just today I finally got my air filter out of the engine bay and out in front of my intercooler so I would no longer be sucking hot air. So now I am driving the Z around and decide to punch it. Once you get to WOT the car hesitates a bit and feels like it is falling on its face. My first thought is timing, but I didn't touch anything. Any thoughts? After a search I found stock idle to be 20 +/- 3deg and the autozone site says 24. Does this sound right?
  4. I have to say that this summer has felt like the shortest summer ever, mainly due to the fact that it rained up here for more than 50% of it. I have been out since May 5th and it has not felt as long as it should.
  5. I am also curious about this...a guy from my school's auto shop has a scooby doo hanging under the rear of his suby.
  6. Looking to get an aluminum radiator for my Z in hopes of lowering under-hood temps. Just as everyone else is, I am on a budget, so please let me know what you have. -thanks, Adam
  7. Hey guys, I would just like to start off by saying I have tried searching random combinations of "turbo, swap, tach, signal, 280z" and I haven't really found any concrete info as to how to get tach signal after the turbo swap, just "maybe" and "i think" statements. I am aware I need to hook something up to the negative side of the coil, but I am just not sure on what wire it is and/or how to test it. I have tried looking at my Hayne's manual, but I honestly cannot read the tiny print that is there and I am not 100% sure on what I am looking at. Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated. -thanks, Adam
  8. Excellent find! I would shy away from the v8 though, it just feels wrong in a fairlady. STROKER FTW!
  9. You can't go wrong with the pearl white from a z32 300zx
  10. I have a hatch locks. One has a key and one does not. Another person on this forum is looking for locks with keys so he would have priority to the key unless I find a place that actually has an identical key blank so I can copy it for you. Haha, would be funny to have one car's door locks and other car's hatch lock that use the same key.
  11. I have door locks with keys from a '71 240z. Make an offer.
  12. That question can be directed through another.... Daily driver or track beater
  13. Oh, it is an aftermarket radiator with no fins or tabs to mount on? I am still using a stocker, but she should be swapped out soon.
  14. I was also hooking up a fan yesterday, and the head seemed like a good idea up until you went to park the car. What I finally realized was that the engine itself takes almost forever to cool down. I waited nearly half an hour and the fan was still running, so off I went and it is now mounted on the radiator. Commentary?
  15. Dude, your car is going to look awesome when it is dropped!
  16. I am aware that the 9005 is a bulb size, I am just curious if you can swap out the bulb/wiring in the HID system itself. I am asking this because I am taking the HID system out of my DD and when I get the h4 headlights for my Z, I would like to swap in the HID system. So this sounds good? (with projector retrofit of course)
  17. That's just too bad....there's gotta be only like 60 combined horsepower in that garage That's why Clive has his head all down in that engine bay; he is searching for where all of his power went.
  18. Hey guys, simple question for ya here. A few years back I got a cheap HID system to use on my DD for high beams and this was a system for a 9005 bulb. I was wondering if I simply bought a pair of h4 HID bulbs if it would be a direct plug in and play. I am thinking it should be, but I just wanted to make sure there isn't any sort of different specifications from the ballasts or anything like that. -thanks, Adam
  19. Any particular reason you guys opted for external?
  20. I raced bmx for a period of about 6 years. I have now had a 6 year break and I really want to try it again! I realized the hobby is much cheaper than Z cars!
