  1. Thanks Turbo Meister! Ben G - Because I can't steer with it the other way. I need to get a shorter hub or different wheel or both. I'd really like a quick release too.
  2. I'm pretty much running without a wastegate. Running 30+psi from a air tank into the top port of the wastegate with the ams1000 ebc. Your car looks sick jon. I wish we were in the same city. You should come down to that "Import vs Domestic all out call out" event in may. We could clean house. hehe.
  3. Love the last picture. It has progressed quickly. Nice work!!
  4. Here is a link: http://www.tunedtech.ca/sqc-tuning-1973-datsun-240z-does-a-9-sec-dash/ This time we bring you the story of an ancient Datsun that was transformed in to a no-nonsense racer by our friends at SQC Tuning (Eric Dotson) Posted Image . I’m a big fan of old Datsuns myself and the 1973 240Z with its Ferrari Dino-like looks has always amused me and what better time to talk of this car than, a time when Nissan is pondering a revival of the Datsun brand in Asia. The love of the Datsun brand got him a 280ZX which was then swapped for a ’73 240Z with one goal in mind. SQC wanted a 9 sec car and so began the job of gathering all the parts and building the drive train. Under the hood of the seventies Datsun is a much modern V8 engine from a Cadillac Escalade. The modified motor features a cam and valve springs from a Z06, GMPP Intake manifold with Edelbrock Elbow 90mm Throttle body, Borg Warner S480 turbo with a race cover. Even with an AEM engine management system that would’ve otherwise went into an Acura Intergra, the Datsun still was not able to hit the quarter mile in under 10 seconds. So, next-up was some tweaking and tuning, redesigning of the turbo hot pipes, an upgraded torque converter and with some SQC custom magic, the Datsun 240Z was ready to be let loose on the quarter mile. It is really very difficult to gauge the amount of work and the long hours that have gone into this build. The car was finally ready despite several setbacks in three years. SQC has yet again proved their might this time with a consistent 9.5 @ 147 mph. Now, they’ve set their target for under 9 seconds and we would like to wish them good luck for the same. 5. I have a question I hope you guys can help me with. Its a ms2 with 3.57 board from DIYAUTO. I got it all hooked up, I'm getting tach signal the mega is commanding 10 deg but I have no spark. I have it wired using a gm hei style ignitor. I used this diagram original http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/8239mss_schematic.jpg with a 5v signal threw a 1k resistor to spark A wired to G. I also tried adding 12v inline to B on the ignitor, that I saw in another wiring diagram. I tried using spark A without the 5v added and it didn't help. I disconnected spark A and sent 12v to g on the ignitor and got a spark. I put my multi meter to spark a and it is seems to be sending a negitive trigger. With the one lead of the multimeter hooked to 12v and the other to spark A I can see voltage fluctuate when I crank over the car but I see nothing If I hook the lead to a ground. Should I wire the ignitor differently? Did I hurt the megasquirt hooking up the 5v? Is there a way to invert the spark A output? Do I have something set wrong in my msq?
  6. Who are you gonna have paint it? Are you gonna come by the meet tonight?
  7. Looking forward to see what you come up with now that your back.
  8. I agree with Gollum. Its looking and sounding good. Have you taken it for a spin yet?
  9. I still haven't pulled the heads off the 6.0L But I expect the guide to be broken. The roller part of the lifter is smooth in the center but scalloped on the edge on both sides. So it must have been rotating abit. I would love for the 5.3 to out do the 6.0L. It would be awesome and depressing at the same time. haha. Another update: Finishing up the engine bay. Here are some shots of the bay in primer. At this point I had a week to get the motor in and interior back in for a event I wanted the car at. Fast forward a bit to some finished shots. It now has the stock 5.3 LM7 motor in it. I was on a mad dash to get everything transferred over to make it to another dyno day I was hosting. Here are the headlight covers installed. Here are a few pictures from the 5th Annual SQC Tuning/Motiva DynoDay/BBQ/Show-N-Shine. (Feb 2012) I also Finally got a matching 30psi boost gauge in the dash.
  10. I know its a totally different motor and setup but It might give you ideas. I like the Idea of attaching it to the motor even with solid mounts. This is what I did. Maybe you could build it to attach to the intake manifold bolts or something. Here you can see the other brace I had on the old setup. It attached to the frame rails.
  11. Yeah I think I could eat of the bottom of your car its so clean. Nice work as always.
  12. Nice looking car. I look forward to your improvements.
  13. I started my winter projects. I pulled the motor and discovered there was some damage the the zo6 cam and one of the lifters. The #3 rod bearing was not looking good either. I decide that I want to rebuild up the motor with gen IV top end (ls3 heads) this next time but its not in the budget just yet. So for now I picked up a 5.3 LM7 to play with while I gather parts for the 6.0L. I started shaving the engine bay to get it ready for a new coat of paint before the motor goes in. I also got a swing out bar kit for christmas. So I got that installed. Should be easier to get in and out of now. I got a new 30psi boost gauge and msa headlight covers that will be going in soon. Continuing shaving the engine bay. These shots are of the fire wall. I wanted to move the engine harness behind the intake manifold to make it less obvious. I got a nice grommet of a honda harness to fit. I cut out some plugs and got them welded in. Where the wiper motor plug cam threw. I don't have wipers though. So I pulled the motor and sealed up the top. I will be down to 2 holes passing threw the fire wall now. I still have some more holes to fill on the driver side.
  14. Love the build. I will be subscribing so i can follow the progress. The floor looks nice. Are you going to run beams front to back for strength?
  15. I ended up using this tack with a inductive pick up and it lets you set it to 1 cycle per rev. http://equus.com/Product/8068/3-3_8%27%27-Tachometer-%28DIS%29
  16. I saw your car on facebook. Stance Nation's page. http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/398089_302599019790391_106576446059317_905571_945841442_n.jpg Your famous.
  17. Very Nice setup. Is that a trans cooler next to the water tank? My Iat's were a lot higher then i would like with my A2A so I have been contemplating a A2W setup or meth injection.
  18. Dan The cop in the video is actually from here in Albuquerque and on my local forum. He got picked up by gutherie/car crafters racing a year or 2 ago. He can drive. The car that flip at the end was dan's 240sx that actually happened 3 or 4 months ago. I think they just threw that in at the end for fun.
  19. Looks amazing. A word of advice, I used the same tubing on my car from the boost controller to wastegate etc and the the tubing that came any where near the turbo or exhaust completely melted on my first drive. It was suppose to be high temp tubing too.
  20. Awesome. I don't know if you posted the exterior of the car on ls1tech or I missed it. The car looks good black!!
