OP does not own an RB20 and was contemplating a possible RB25 swap to replace the 20 in the future. In that case its just burning money if you are already thinking about swapping your swap later in case your not satisfied. In this section tons of money and best of the best usually refers to the 26... Anyway, I am leaving it at that. I did not intend to start a flame war of sorts.

That is the stock boost solenoid. It limits the boost to 5psi I believe. Edit: If your gonna run a boost controller then you ditch that.

Nobody is RB20 "hating". Bottomline is if you live in the United States the advantages of an RB20 over the RB25 are null because people choose the latter when they live in a country where these cars are available because you can get the RB20 for little cost. Do what you want, the RB25 is just the better bang for the buck if you dont come from an area where these engines are available.

If you live in the US, i.e. cant go to the junk yard and pull a dirt cheap RB20, do yourself a favor and get an RB25.

From what I have heard, any plenums like that that are not from reputable tuners (greddy, rips, jun, etc) are kind of a hit or miss thing. Some flow fine but others (duds) even from the same company have flaws. So its like a buy at your own risk kind of thing. That knock off is even kinda on the pricey side. Id hold off, in this economy Id imagine a used greddy one or something will turn up for that kind of money. One last edit haha, I agree with 240z_master, unless you already have an RB20 sitting in your garage right now then dont bother with it, especially if your in the US. Its older, smaller displacement, aftermarket parts are harder to find, and the transmissions are not anywhere near as good as the RB25 ones.

Have to wait until Monday to talk to the adjuster...figures since I happen to work that day and have had time off for the past week. I will be in the market for a 1975 280z if I had to make a prediction. I will not be giving up on the swapping the RB again no matter what happens. Once you drive an RBz, there's no going back

I got mine from eBay. Thats probably your best bet. My link I think Kragen has this little Specture MAF to filter adapter that might work for you if your not going to mount the filter to the MAF.

The guy that hit me is doing everything through his Allied insurance. We'll see how it unfolds tommarrow, but seeing how tweaked the frame is I am probaly going to have to find another shell and redo the swap. I'm collecting all my reciepts at the moment.

Today started out like any other day. I got new tires the other day and needed an alignment. So I went to my local tire shop and they did not have their computer set up to align cars older than 1980. So I was referred to an area of san diego that I never really go to. I get very near the shop on a two lane road and brake for a rental moving truck in front of me while he makes a left turn. I am stopped for about 5-10 seconds and the next thing I know my neck snaps foward and I hear the sickening sound of a unibody being crunched and I slam into the truck in front of me. I go to open the door but the frame was tweaked so I couldnt get it open and was forced to climb through the window. Really down about the whole thing, shes my baby and was really enjoying the RB swap. Going to meet the guys insurance agency tomorrow and see whats what. Photobucket is being werid so Ill toss a few more pictures up later.

I can also attest to the Apexi filter. I've put a fair amount of miles on mine and it has been great thus far, plus you get the convinience of simply bolting it to the maf. I believe the HKS one is only for like racing, not for daily/road use.

Sweet build. Jealous of the 26

I wonder if it will sag and the doors will stick eventually.

Hey all, Ive been away from the forum for quite sometime due to some recent events that have surfaced. I am very reluctant to post this but it is something that I have to do. I am gauging interest in my RB25DET S2 powered 1975 280z. The car runs great but it needs someone that has the time and money to make her what she should be, as it stands I no longer posses either one. I know you guys always stress about the classified section, but I figure people that are interested in an RBZ would probably come here. Quick YouTube Video: Here are some quick pictures: FOR EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW GO HERE: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=135529 This is a running project car. It needs work. This would be an opportunity for someone to get an RB powered Z for a reasonable cost that has most of the nitty gritty sorted out already. Ive put a lot of work into her and am taking a bit of financial loss but I just do not have the money anymore because of college costs. I am looking to get about $6000obo out of it. Thanks guys.

Well, I just figured out where my paycheck is going to be going. Struts? Nope. Springs? Not even. Tires maybe? Not that. Then what you may ask? A speeding ticket that's what! How disappointing this is...and I have only myself to blame. Early this morning on the way to meet up with a friend. Traffic was cleared because most people had already made the commute to work. I decided to open her up a little. I get it up to about 100mph and then let up and begin to creep down to about 80. Then I look behind me and I see the damning lights of a motorcycle highway patrol tailgating me. He cites me a speeding ticket for 100mph and tells me that my car is a piece of junk and he's surprised it was running. I grin in berret and reassure him that "I just bought it a few days ago". I'm sure he figured otherwise and proceeded to have me pop open the hood and bitches at me for my intercooler, aluminum radiator, crankcase breather, intake, exhaust etc etc. I play dumb but it didn't work (wasn't expecting it too). So he proceeded to give me a fix it ticket for the intake and exhaust and tells me I have to go to the BAR and get it signed off. What the hell have I gotten myself into?

I have put an RB25 into a 280z. Get the engine and transmission. Dont forget about the shipping costs. Most of the crap that comes with a half cut you cannot use. For instance the radiator will not fit. A half cut is not a good way to save money when swapping the engine into a Z car. Also, the market is somewhat saturated already with miscellaneous parts that come off these half cuts so you'd be hard pressed to make a sale. Just my two cents....

Awesome just the answer I was looking for. Appreciate it.

I got an RB25 with the stock plenum in a 75' 280z and was wondering if there is a strut tower brace on the market that will clear the crossover pipe. Can provide pictures and measurements if necessary. I am using McKinney's Mount kit.

Well lets see, my Z is now at the point where my engine and drivetrain surpasses the current setup of my Z. The struts are nearly blown, springs are worn, the aerodynamics make the front end unstable at anything over 90mph, I can fell the car flexing when I launch it, the brakes feel a bit on the mushy side and I can feel the front wheels "skip" when I take a corner at higher then average speed. Not to mention my fuel gauge doesn't work along with my turn signals and headlights. The latter are more refinements then improvements and will be addressed shortly. At any rate I am planning my next purchases; should it be Tokico Illuminas with Eibach progressive lowering springs? Maybe save a bit longer and make the leap to coil over and camber kit from techno toy tuning? Strut bars? Wheels and tires? An airdam perhaps? We'll see...

More power to ya man, that set up will defiantly turn heads and win shows. Im pretty sure that pic you provided is the Rocky Auto Skyline, Ive heard it on YouTube and boy does it sound divine haha.

Well the radiator sorted out all the cooling issues. I took the car out for a long ride today and it never got into the 190s even in traffic. The performance of the car even felt better and there are zero leaks. I'm very impressed with this from this kit from Summit Racing.

Lucky Aussies, nice build.

Nice work Stony. Those wheels sure are purdy

Besides saving a bit of money, why not going RB25? I understand going with an RB because the VG is a major PITA to work on. It sounds so easy to just swap in a VG30DETT and be done with it but that usually comes with its own little set of problems.

Please take your time to look around the forum. There are hundreds, if not thousands of posts on the topics you mentioned in the above post. Enjoy your time at hybrid z.

Same side inlet & outlet end tank radiator

Thanks guys, that's what I figured. I believe a long flex radiator hose is in order then haha.
