Thanks, I won't do it myself. I was planning to do the rust frame rail first then complete repaint later. Now I can see it involve a lot other parts. I will wait and do it at once then. Thanks again. -

The question is : Do I need to remove fuel tank, fuel line, engine , transmission, rear diff, and most parts to weld on the frame rail. I saw some post from members in here showed that he strip the car to bare metal when doing the frame rail . I guess he do complete restoration from ground up. I also saw that most time they do flip the car to side way to weld the frame. So it is possible just to lift the car up and weld the frame from under ? -
I have rust on both rear frame rails, about 1/4 the length of the frame. I am planning put the bad dog frame rail over the existing one. However, I ask some body shop and they said they can't do it without strip everything out. I wonder if it is possible to just jack the car up without remove engine , transmission and weld it . I will remove interior where the frame go so it won't be melted or catch on fire during process.

I have HF wire welder, and I only use it for the exhaust only. The finish product is horrible, don't know about the strength if you use it for engine or trans mount.

Screw driver the whole frame rail. I didn't know my frame rail rusted until I jack her up right on the frame rail. It was rusted inside out.

I got a 10 year - not running Z and took me full 2 weeks to make it run smooth - I think. My 2 cents: Install a fuel pressure gauge. This help a lot. 33 psi idle 36 when rev. Fuel filter check or change? Fuel line check ? Vacuum line ? I change all my vacuum line ( cost just 25 - 30 bucks) Fuel pressure regulator? Throttle switch position when idle and in rev position ? I read the fuel injection bible everyday until I dream and had nightmare about it. Good luck and sorry I am not major in English so spare me for typo or gramma .

Here is mine - Wicked Flow. Don't laugh please , I gather all the junk part from my friend junk yard and put in my Z. Don't really think to start the project yet. I wouldn't change if it wasn't rust thru.

My bearing races dropped like slot machine coin when I opened the bell housing. I will get the 4 speeds trans from beermanpete and try to fix the 5 speeds using the part from another 4 speeds trans , also from beermanpete. I will post comparison between 2 trans , of course not the OD - 5th gear but other gears so member can overhaul or fix their 5 speeds trans using cheap 4 speeds trans parts.

It is simple to relocate battery, it is pretty much same as run power cable to supply the amp for the audio system. But the simplest way is get a metal plate and weld back where the battery should be . Then get a detergent ( the square Costco one ) cut it and make a good tray, drill and mod a drain hole ( supply you can get from swamp cooler accessories ) . Good luck.

37 Psi is too high for idle. There is the heater inside air regulator. When engine cold valve open, after that heater element heat up and cause valve close. Thus valve is for air by pass during warm up. You can check throttle switch position if the full throttle contact is touching when it is in idle position. Just my 2 cents.

Transmission open up. 2 bearings missing half of their balls. The top and the one at the bottom same shaft ( where adapter place ) crack gear missing tooth. I know I can buy those bearing , how about other parts? The missing tooth gear , the crack gear?? ( is it the syncho??) I haven't id the name of those gear yet. Should I buy another trans or fix this one. So far the car go smooth on 3 4 5 but not on 1 2 R. I am planning swap entire engine and trans 2 3 years later when my financial more stable and I have a place to do it. I need your advices .

Good story and good luck in Australia as well. Hope you can be together with your long lost " friend" soon. Also I am curious when saw you have 2 fuel pumps? What is the purpose of that and is the small one before or after the main pump. Also I thought the little glass fuel filter ain't rated for injection engine? Thanks. -
