Thanks for the info guys. SBC 400 you have pm. There is some metal to be done on this car, yes you are right. The floors are in bad shape, the front Upper frame both side have to be completely changed ( The lower are in very good shape), front and rear parts of rocker panels and it is about it. Some rear fender work as well. I am not really scared about the metal work, I like to fabricate. Mark, I live in Canada, cars more than 5 years old are rusted, there is no Z available in here. I would have to bring a really good body from somewhere in the states. I will look further into that. Other parts are in pretty good shape, interior is perfect, dash perfect, good engine... Hi everyone, I just started to strip my Z and I am now at the stage of repairing the body, probably media blast (any idea is welcome) and have it primered. Those picture are my shell on the rotisserie. 1- Floors are gone, I will have to replace them. What Steel gage should I use for the floor pans and the sub frame connectors. http://usera.imagecave.com/dayz/240z/Datsun5mars020.jpg 2- Upper front frame are gone as well, as you can see in the pictures. What steel gage should I use here to fabricate new ones. Strong as the stock one. http://usera.imagecave.com/dayz/240z/Datsun5mars016.jpg 3- Rocker panels have to be changed...Again what steel gage. Some screws are still in the body and can't get them out, can't drill them. How do you guys take those screws out. Example are fender screws, Hood hinges, cowl... My last question would be: What are the steps I should use, repair the body after get it to the sandblast and get a nice shell...Get it to the sand blast so it will be clean and start the sheet metal there? Those prices are in Canadian dollar I believe. I think that some parts are priced right but others a little to high. I live 2 hours from him, I will go check it out and give you updates on this guy !!! Good thing I have some z parts not to far from me...Shipping is a lot when the parts are coming form Texas or California all the time !! Dayz

The check engine light isn't on, therefore giving no codes. Can you clean yourself the injector or you need to send them, I have a spare set in case. Thanks Erik

I just went for my emission test this morning and I failed like I coudn't be worst. asm 2525 test Limit Reading Result 65 345 Fail ( HC ppm ) 0.36 7.51 Fail ( CO% ) 484 53 pass ( NO ppm ) Curb idle test Limit Reading Result 200 762 fail ( HC ppm ) 1.00 10.48 fail ( CO% ) rpm 754 I need help with that. What do you think could be wrong...Sensors etc, My car is idling wierd, doesn't stay at 750, move from 400 to 900. There is no torque at low Rpm, like there is to much gaz. My car is running to rich I think and there is no EGR ( japan engine) It probably doesnt help. Help me to solve this problem Guys, I'll paypal a beer to people that find the problems !! Thank, Erik

About the zinc base primer, I know that a lots of bodyshop uses it, but it's a little bit more expensive. That is what we put in plane industry, so there isn't no corosion. I can't be perfect, but I know for me it is the best, you can always weld over it without cleaning it !!! From past experience it worked for me. Every one that used it on their plane or their car were very satisfied with it, and haven't seen corosion yet. Maybe there is something better if someone can chim in !! Dayz

As soon as you are on clean metal, you don't want it to rust again, so usally I paint it with a primer called " zinchromate", aftre painting, you can weld over it with no problem, because of the zinc base. Thus, your clean metal never rust and you don't have to clean it to weld your chassis. Dayz

Welcome to hybridz, First thing: use the search function before someone cu your head right off !!! Plenty of good info . Second: Putting a turbo L28 in a 240/260/280z is the easiest swap possible, and getting 300hp isn't impossible at all. All in all you can have the look you want with the power you want, just use the search function. Good Luck !! Dayz

At first I was like come on guys, a little of encouragement !!! But after seing the pics, I will still say good luck but... it is doable if you cannot find another body. well I'd go with "Mr Scottie's" oppinion here and buy a huge and expensive intercooler....if you have the $$$. But the other option is possible, my supra friend that loves to build things took a huge truck intercooler, ( that thing is huge and heavy) he cut it and re-welded it. He basicly re made a new intercooler with the existing core. Be sure to pressure test it !!! He said it wasn't so hard if you are able to weld, and that is a cheap option. So if you like to weld, go for it, just for fun. Dayz

Just wondering what kind of carbs you have, the early ones or the late ones. The vaccuum line you are refering to is the crank case vent ( left in front of the block) If you need some manual shop tell me, I have an Haynes and another one with no name that I could sell to you for little. Dayz

Let's say that this subject is related to my field !!! But yes, we have to watch what we buy if we care about the caracteristic of the product. If not, well get yourself a rolex for 35$ and you'll be happier than if you bought it for 15000$, and people won't know the difference....purpose of having a rolex. Dayz

It is probably different in the US, but I know here in Canada, you can make an evaluator evaluate the value of the car for a 50$, and he will tell you how much your car worth. Tell him that your car is a collection car and not an old rust bucket !!! Good luck !! Dayz

Yes those little civic can be pretty impressive. I have a video of a civic beating a corvette, but don't know where I can post it !!! If I remember correctly, that guy had a 2.0L from a crv and an head from sir. Pretty cheap built, that is what he told me !! Dayz

Hi Tim I would have to agree with aux with this one. Let's say that it would make a good basic camera, but I don't know what you want to do with it. Another hobby I have is photography and I know a lot about it. From what I've understand, there are two company in digital camera that are good: Canon and Olympus. I've had an hold on a 4mp from olympus and that is awsome. Don't just look at MP, but zoom quality, the "back" of the camera ( where it takes the pic.) My friends told me to go with those two brand if I want a digital, ( they are professional photographer). Sorry if I wasn't so cheerful, but I think you could continue the research. My friend got a really good one on ebay for pretty cheap. Good luck!! Dayz

Even if it's an eclipse, it's always good to have a car that you can go rally with and leave it ther when it dies. Ok go there with a charge batterie so you can try to sart the engine. - Turn it over buy hands, if it turns, that is a good start. -Check if you have fuel, or bring some fuel and put some in the intake (a little) - Check if you have a spark when you crank the engine with the batterie. -If you do everything, it should start. Remember, a motor needs air/fuel, spark at a good time and it will run. It it starts, let it go like that. Maybe the fuel pump died and she just left it there !! Good luck, love those project Dayz
