I think you can do it. I bought mine and it had th 260z AC installed in it. I am swapping it with a "today's technology" one. I am trying to put one from a Nissan Sentra 95+ since it is a pretty small unit. We will see how it goes...

Type of fitting with stainless lines?
Dayz replied to Dayz's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks, I am planning to change the whole system. Should I go with copper-nickel hardline? I just want the best. I will buy the flex-line made of stainless from MSA. Thanks Dayz -

Hi guys, I am cleaning up the engine bay. I welded all the holes, will run my wiring harness in the upper body frame and...I am now re-routing my fuel and brake lines. If I get an electric fuel pump instead of the mechanical one, I will be able to eliminate some fuel lines in the engine bay. -Is is a good idea? -Is an electric fuel pump as reliable as a mechanical one? -What kind of pump should I get? If you have pictures of that change post them please. Thanks Dayz

I rebuilt it, cost me 500 US$. Was leaking oil. Rebuilt it again at the same place, it was leaking again. Rebuilt it a 3rd time at another turbo Shop (He is an expert). He dismantled it found out that the cup behind the compressor housing backing plate upside down. He installed a new cup that fit and changed the oil seal again. This is an explded view of what I am talking about. http://www.socalsupras.com/tuning/turborebuild.html I will check my feed line and return line more carefully. There isn't a million solutions !!! I love cars. Thanks guys, I was going to try to reweld the other flange and put the other elbow...I am tired of this issue. Thanks for your support !! Dayz

Hi, I have a problem with my turbo. It is a 7mGTE engine from a Toyota Supra. I have a CT26 Turbo, a 3" turbo outlet, 3" downpipe to the back of the car. It has been 3 times that I rebuilt this turbo in 5000Km. It is leaking oil, smell burnt oil in the back. It is coming from the Turbo, I am positive. My oil pressure is fine, I did an oil analysis, came out perfect. The Turbo guy is telling me that because my outlet is a 3 inch, it isn't keeping the backpressure on the exhaust side seal (o-ring). He thinks the turbo needs this backpressure in order to seal properly. He is advising me to put the original Turbo Outlet. Is this possible? Thanks, I need my daily. Dayz

What is your goal with your car? Show off? Power? Drag Racing?..... It all depends what you want to do with your car. Dayz

I agree with both of you guys. A car with a lot of rust takes a lot more time. You have 2 approaches you can use: 1- Building a car is fun by itself. Personally, I like building it more than driving it...well! What I mean to say is that when your project is done you want another one. Therefore if you start with a car that has more rust, it doesn't matter, you will be able to learn, practice, etc...and have fun. Personally I have both; one in bad condition and one that I am finishing that comes from California. 2- If you want to be done with your project fast in order to drive, yes by all mean buy a car from the southern states and import it here. It will cost you less in the long run, in time and money. Take Mull in Norway as an example, It car was pretty rusty, but he is doing it in a record time. Here in Canada, there isn't too many choice, cars are all rusted out. What is your goal with your project? Stock car or race machine?

Hi, I would like to improve my painting skills on how to adjust my gun perfectly, how to spray my clear ( It seems that I put to much, it doesn't drip but it looks like an heavy varnish), etc. Basically I need to improve my basic knowledge. Do you guys know of any good forums or website that could help me, I have look around read and learned a lot, but would need more. I love painting!!! Thanks Dayz

U.P.Z, Beautiful Project...very nice paint, practice, practice and practice I guess. What is your advice on undercoating ?
-
No, my Z is the rusties z ever restored. As we always said, you guys in the US are spoiled, even more you that are coming from TX, AZ, etc. You have no rust. Here in Canada, after 5 years you have rust on your car and after 10-15 years your car doesn't exist anymore !!! Nice work on the car !!

Racerx, I think I put enough ZR, I have been told, read, and... that more you have better it is as long as it flashed, or dryed enough between coats. I believe I put 5 good coats; I will try to take picture tomorrow. I have more than a 1/3 of a gallon under that car (interior floorboards as well). Next time I do it, I will use Xylene, not that I have had a bad experience with acetone but...just to follow the expert!! I can say that the paint is really hard, hard to sand as well. I believe it is a great product. I will topcoat it with a 3m Undercoating urethane. I have to say that my surface was really clean, the best I could have done, before getting bored with this project. My metal had no rust at all. Do you think using 3m Undercoating is a good idea? Or what should I do to protect the underside of the body? Thanks Dayz
