  1. Ok, I remember the BBS story now, they are too pricey for me anyway... How much were the Kodiaks? Are they a race only (ugly) wheel?
  2. Going go try calling again tomorow, I called that place for jets and didn't get through other than answering machine, at 4:30 PM.
  3. Lower ratio rockers helps with low end bleedoff on big overlap cams, thats a known. Guys trying to pass smog will sometimes use break in rockers for this reason.
  4. What would be YOUR reason for going coil overs, worth is in the eye of the beholder. If you want, a narrower assembly, then thats a plus. If you want adjustable ride height in any spring you could ever want to put on the car, there you go. So, whats "not" worth it? If you dont need it thats one thing, if you want the benefits then there is no other way to get the full set of bennefits. If all you want is wider wheels, then of course there are other, more difficult ways to get there.
  5. Sounds interesting to me, will be tough and probably a bit expensive still, but I'd put my estimate at around 2k to get it done, minus parts. I'll talk to a head guy and see what he thinks, if they can do it to a block, they must be able to do it to a head.
  6. Getting a better look today, a slip on connector for the GM HEI setup fell off in a spot that I didn't see it, doh!
  7. I have 3 N42s, I'll be selling one, one is on the 240 now, and the other will be worked on further (its already ported a bit). The main weakness of them is bronze seats, other than that they are a good head from what I know so far. N42 is a square port head, round ports supposedly are not as bad as they are sometimes made out to be since mainly the liner was misunderstood as a restriction device. Huge amounts of exaust flow is not wanted anyway, efficiency yes, but 65-75% IE ratio is often desired, not more than that.
  8. Yep, if I pull the windows down about 2" it begins. I was told on an email list I'm on, by a knowlegable guy that most diffusers are 4-11º, his will be 9º, how long? I dont know. http://www.corner-carvers.com/ There is another board which may be helpfull, I saw track records there some time ago and never knew they had a forum
  9. ...and what is fender welting I kinda didn't like the exposed bolt head look, but I suppose it may be the easiest DIY way without fiberglass work or something, hmm. Still not sure what I'll go with but I'll wait till I get some big wheels anyway.
  10. Uhh, what I meant is driving two wheels at a time, not a single tire. I haven't seen proof that IRS is better either though, the Vettes do well with it, but past the 9s they usually go solid for several reasons, rules for saftey being one of them. Now I see what you mean, IRS 1WD versus solid 1WD. Interesting read, I'll have to go over it again. However still, for the amount of power in a Z a heavier car runs the same times often, which still throws me although I'm assuming its level of grip due to the light weight car (lacking grip).
  11. How well would that work on a car with synchros? I believe thats half of the reason they are used, I dont think those cars get synchros.
  12. Well, after doing springs and brake lines, the car wont fire On the firewall area to get access to some of the hard line, I had to remove 2 fuel lines going to the rail, ALOT of juice came out but after running the starter over for some time, several times, with a well charged battery (I charged it just incase) it still will not fire nor begin to fire at all. How long does it take to refill the doggon rail? Or what else might be going on here?
  13. Any chance we get to hear that "long story"? I'm hoping it ended in your favor
  14. Nascar guys have to be in the .700-.850 range I believe(???), but 500 miles, going to be torn down after the race, may not be "endurance" and not probably a street car, those valve springs wont be happy for long. Not many heads (minus $14,000 SB2 stuff) have that kind of flow support either.
  15. 2 candles sounds very redneck/ghetto doesn't it LoL, but it worked. I'll buy a cheapie butane/propane whatever torch sometime.
  16. 12.91 with no posi, I haven't seen it yet but I suppose its possible I know a local guy who can drive "any" car .2 faster than the owner, he breaks things routinely.
  17. ~14 @ 107-110... hard to say. One of the members here has about a 400HP SBC, no posi, and still no traction at the top of 4th. Without the posi and the grip the hosepower just goes nowhere.

Shane, I believe there is a 3.07 ratio rear for the C4, I forget if it came off the Automagic or what, but I am pretty sure of that ratio existing in stock form. I think there is also a 3.36 or 3.37 but I dont know those rears well enough, I could be smokin' the pipe on that one. The automatic rear wasn't as strong as the manual trans rears, but probably still good enough especially in a light car. If this was changed in the last era of the C4 (the LT1 years) with rears being the same size I dont know.
  19. Your either going to laugh, or cringe at this one! Since this is near the fuel area, I would not recommend it to those in an enclosed area, or someone who is afraid of possible explosions, because there is the potential for it. I remembered that about 10 years ago I was given 2 halloween candles, they are long and have an exposed tip. I took both of these candles (after finding them) and heated up the area as best I could for a couple solid minutes, maybe 3-4 dunno, and got my locking pliers on there as fast as I could without busting a knuckle, after a couple workings back and forth it broke free! Thanks for the suggestion, very boneheaded that it didn't occur to me! I need to buy myself a real torch now Now I get to go bend the line and finish
  20. True, common sense there, maybe I should break down and buy one. Expand the metal, break the internal rust seal I have a paint stripper gun that might work.
  21. Heads and cam go TOGETHER, but obviously a cam MFG can't suit every single set of heads out there with 100% success. Why do you think that these LS1 people with OVERLY flowing exaust sides think that the reverse split cam is some kind of magic that nobody ever thought of? This is like going back to the 1910 era of "overlap is bad" kind of thinking.
  22. Interesting art It should look a 1000 pounds lighter
  23. Exaust whistler LoL, I remember those at a gag shop haha. The guy did a good job IMO, but I would have shown it with a new tip, not an old one. It almost looks cool, not for me (cut me up, heck its a liability if someone walks by and cuts a leg), but for what it is he did a good job. With that in mind, no I am NOT into show car parts.
