I'm pumped for this. I've thought about this as another option to fuel injected itb's as the 240 i have has an intake similar to the AZC one.

Or instead of swapping in the LS there is a DOHC L28 head that will hopefully be available this year that looks like it can make the L-series capable of LS type HP then you can keep it all Datsun and not skimp on power and save you money down the road. Check out the L6 engine forum.

Since you sound like you'll have other means of transportation, you could buy it, part out the motor and other things you don't need and grab a cheap L28 to put in it, fix the rust as you go and you're on your way. Easier said than done but that's an option. they say good things comes to those that wait, however. Also, I wouldn't necessarily narrow your search down to only florida. I'm only 25 but I've had a few project cars, of which, only one came from my state. Just my two cents. Blake

Not to muck up the thread, and however not necessarily in Mike's case, the people do respond and assume things and it gets annoying. But its the guys like Mike and yourself that also set the standard for young guys like me to learn. Whenever you post something publicly there's always the possibility of negative feedback, however I've seen people chime in with things that help the OP with the build too (or just increase the awareness of other options out there). You have to take the good with the bad. Also just because someone has a different view of things, doesn't necessarily mean their challenging your wisdom either. At the same time, sometimes you showing a different way or a better way can disprove some of the myths that are out there about the best way to do things. There are unlimited number of ways to build these little Z cars. Unfortunately the people that do appreciate the build the most don't always chime in but trust me, we're taking notes.

Bittersweet seeing it cone together for me. Glad you'll be happy but sad to see you go. Maybe staying away from Chevy/GM motors if you ever venture back over.

I think in an all out race car these flares could make sense.. i found something similar. i really want to like them but i think the fronts are throwing ppl off. if you guys make the rest, i'm sure you'll have a winner

I'd like to hang out in your warehouse. Every time i get on here your pulling some sort of awesomeness out of there.

I haven't been much of a contributing member but i get on and read/research and learn everyday. whenever your thread is updated on the "view new content" link it's always the 1st one i read. Your attention to detail and in-depth write-ups are why this is one of the few forums i get on. I understand needing to take a break. I know you haven't had the best luck with engines, but you and members like you are the reason this 25 year old bought his '72 240z against his dads advice (bought as a project, not a daily). When you guys share your builds, tips and tricks and actually finish them, it gives me the confidence that i can do the same and ask questions if they come up. I've learned more from this website about Zcars than i have from any other. so much that i had the P.O. in disbelief (he owned the car for 15yrs and said i knew more than he did). Take a break, enjoy your time away, but know there are many members that look up to you guys and can't wait for you to take another crack at getting this car on the track. Thank you for the amount of effort and determination (even though its being tested right now) and hopefully myself and others can carry the torch until you return. Blake B
