  1. brad, your car could make anything look good!
  2. can't hurt to take the stub axles and companion flanges. someone around here could always use a set of them.
  3. shiny!!! i like the gunmetal inners very clean.
  4. check out this post http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19020&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 that should answer any questions.
  5. that is what i figured. i just couldn't remember the right year when they widened the calipers to accept the vented rotor. i bow to your superior knowledge.
  6. exactly!! and that is why i like your attitude and attention to detail. first class!!
  7. those MSA brakes look like the 84-86 toyota 4 piston calipers. if i were you i'd check to see if you can use a vented rotor setup with those. i suspect that if you can you'll also need to pick up some spacers for the rotors. if you cannot use the vented rotors with that package then i don't think the upgrade is worth the hassle. i'm currently upgrading to the 88 toyota calipers because the earlier sets have two large and two smaller pistons whereas mine have four large pistons. check out this site for the comparison between the two. http://www.zcar.com/articles/dat74z/brakes/ then check out Ross C's package at modern motorsports http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=48 i think he's got the best package going.
  8. yeah you could fix it with offsetting the wheels. i was trying to come up with a way to get all four rims to have the same offset without having to use spacers on the rears. the other reason is i'm not fond of the gap left on the spindle with the 5 bolt hub, it looks like dirt could get in there a lot easier.
  9. if you get the chance do you think you could measure those widths up for me? i think they would be a good reference to have for anyone considering this mod.
  10. Cool! I've got a buddy in Altona that i may visit this summer.
  11. Awesome!! i love how clean everything looks. the coils look cool on the firewall like that also. i'm going to have to see this car in person some day
  12. stony, when you did the swap did you check to see if the width between the hubs changed between the stock and the modded versions. i would be very interested to see if it changed the fronts and/or rears. the reason i ask is that i am changing over my front hubs to 5 bolts from a 300zxt but it changes the offset on the front wheels by 3/4" outward while the rears stay the same because i'm just getting them redrilled. the measurement is 2 15/16" for the 4 bolt the measurement is 3 11/16" for the 5 bolt if after all the mods your front and rear measurements are the same i would do this to my vehicle also.
  13. you need to get a set of front hubs off a 84-89 300zx turbo. they have the 5 bolt hub. the bearings are the same but the dust seal is different. the only thing you have to watch for is that the 5 bolt hub will stick out an extra 3/4" over the 4 bolt so the offset on your front wheels will be different than the offset of the rears. the measurement is 2 15/16" for the 4 bolt hub. the measurement is 3 11/16" for the 5 bolt hub.
  14. nothing good can come of something like this...don't you remember such phrases as ...Hello Micheal!... or ...i'm sorry Dave...i can't do that Dave...what are you doing Dave? you my try to build it for good but it will become EVIL!!!
  15. i'm not a big fan of the gnose but those look great with the black flares. i have a 2002 yellow nissan frontier with the yellow flairs, which remind me of the zg flairs, that looks great also.
  16. i'm sure there must be a wax you could use on your plaster form so it would not soak up anything and would help in breaking it from the mold.
  17. i'm not sure about the z32 but i know that the front wheel bearings are the same from 70 - 89 the only difference is in the dust seal.
  18. The only problem i can see with this setup is now you have a bulletproof diff and shafts but you still have the smaller 240z stub axles. i guess it really depends on how much power you are running through them as to whether it will become a concern. it really wouldn't be a problem to replace the stubs with 280z ones and get adapters made for the companion flanges if anything did happen. it is an awesome setup and took quite a bit of thinking to accomplish and that is why i like this site so much!!!
  19. i really like the wheels you have. could you not check into getting them widened? i know there are shops around that can do that.
  20. i agree with Dan. Ferrari Fly Yellow and a grey along the same lines as carbon fibre would look very cool!!!
  21. i actually use rain-x windshield wiper fluid. i never though i would be one to go on about something as stupid as wiper fluid but this stuff is awesome. every time you use fluid it's like applying rain-x. after about the third time i used it the rain was beading up and rolling off. the other nice thing about this stuff is that it also has a de-icer in it. you know when you are in a hurry and you think i'll just use my wipers to take the frost off while i'm driving... well now it's possible.
  22. i can't say for sure but i believe that the z31na cv's are longer than the 280zxt's. i would think that they would be the same length as the z31t axles so they wouldn't work with the zxt adapter. do your cv's have the same protrusion on the dust shield at the stub axle end as the zxt cv's? assuming that the z31na cv's were the same length as the z31t cv's then i don't think you could get them to work. if you look at the thickness of the 280zxt adapter compared to the z31t adapter you can see that the z31t adapter is quite a bit thinner. if the z31na cv's do have the same protrusion on the end of them then it would hit the stub axle nut because the adapter is not thick enough. i have a set of both the z31t and 280zxt cv's but not the z31na's for comparison. if you can get me the measurements of yours the way i did mine in my picture that would be great for a reference. the ones in my picture are the longer passenger side.
  23. brad go back to page one of this thread and look at the picture i posted comparing the z31turbo ball and cage to the 280zxt tripod. i think the z31na uses the same tripod setup as the 280zxt. if that is the case then you cannot change the length. as for Ross's adapters i know he makes the 4 bolt z31turbo adapter but am not sure about the z31na.
