  1. i'd say, judging from the front shot, that those z31 struts did move your front wheels outboard a bit. it actually makes the car look like it's lunging forward while it's sitting still. very cool!!!
  2. thanks for the clarification. i hadn't thought about the clutch master yet, as it has yet to be installed in my car. i'll add that to my notes...and replace my old booster.
  3. my 74 260z has only waited 29 years for these types of parts to be available. if we follow this logic then you zxers will have to wait for another 5 years minimum....
  4. yes it will resist heat. you can get it colored or you can paint over it with your exterior color. the only problem with it would be weight. if you were to get it applied at around 1/16" to 1/8" you should be fine. added benifits would be the sound deadening and insulation.
  5. you can use the 280zx booster. it is the same bolt pattern but you will have to flip it upside down to get it to fit. this will not affect anything. you may also have to adjust the throw on the shaft inside the booster to get it adjusted right.
  6. i found the Victoria British catalog is good for cross referencing also.
  7. Cool!! I'd be very interested in seeing some pics.
  8. this is the list i have. 1979-85 Toyota 4X4 4 cylinder pickup with solid rotor, front calipers marked ‘S12+8’ OR 1986-88 Toyota 4X4 4 cylinder pickup with vented rotor, front calipers marked ‘S12+8’ 1988-92 Toyota 4X4 V6 pickup front calipers marked ‘S12W’ with vented rotors OR 1995-00 Toyota 4-Runner 4X4 V6 front calipers marked ‘S13WB’ with vented rotors i got this list from brokebolt so i cannot vouch for it but i can say i'm using the 88 toyota 4x4 V6 calipers marked 'S12W'
  9. i find the Victoria British catalog is one of the best sources for cross-reference information.
  10. the 240sx calipers are a good deal as long as they are the late model 89s to 94. as far as the 280zx calipers... their still dual piston IMO i don't think they would be worth the trouble.

    Nicest Z 2.0

here is one of my all time favorites. i think those are a custom one-off set of flares?? very nice
  12. i posted some links in this thread about brake upgrades http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21514
  13. it has the color scheme of a transformer!!! i wonder what it turns into?
  14. i believe those vents are to exhaust the air brought into the cabin from the fan. if they are covered up i would think that you would defeat the fresh air versus recirculating air switch. i think you would only really notice it in the winter when you would want to always have fresh air coming in to keep the moisture levels from getting too high and fogging up the windows inside the car. you may run into the same problem in cool rain conditions also.
  15. when you get the ratios, could you post them also. i would like to add that info to my list.
  16. was it off an all white 300? they are a vlsd and require more mods. it will also have a sticker saying vlsd on the cover. if not then i would swap over to the z31 turbo cv halfshafts instead of the u-jointed ones at the same time. it requires some mods but will be stronger. check out http://www.modern-motorsports.com for info on the adapters. the ones shown are for the 280zxt cv's but Ross makes the 300zxt ones also.
  17. try this one also http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/transmission.html
  18. my brother in-law just did his chevy bumpers. he just welded up the holes then ground them smooth and took them to the chroming shop.
  19. check out this thread http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21265
  20. you can't really fault the Zx. i've owned my 260 for at least 14 years and i love it (even though it has been on blocks for a year now) but two of my buddies bought 280zx's and with a bit of work they were great cars also but when you add luxury you add weight. my 260 was faster and handled better but i didn't have power steering, power mirrors, power windows, a rear wiper, headlight sprayers, fuel injection, t-tops, rear disc brakes....need i say more. they are both good cars. can't we all just get along!!
  21. if you can find an 84-89 300zx turbo in the junkyard you'll get most of the parts needed. you'll need the front hubs and rotors (5 bolt) and the driveshaft, diff,cv axles and rear rotors. 87-89 will get you a LSD diff and, i'm pretty sure, vented rear discs too. then check out these sites for more info. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Garage/6212/diffswap/diffswap.htm http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Boulevard/6117/zbrakeupgrade.html http://www.zcar.com/articles/dat74z/brakes/ http://www.modern-motorsports.com/xtrainfo/reardisk.htm'>http://www.modern-motorsports.com/xtrainfo/reardisk.htm then check out http://www.modern-motorsports.com Ross C. can supply you with the other parts required for the conversions. some of the sites will mention the 300zx non turbo but that is for 4 bolt stuff. this is by no means all the info you need but check out the sites and ask any other questions that may arise.
  22. here's the quaife site http://www.quaifeamerica.com/
  23. i'd say go with the z. sure it's an old design but it's also a good design. with a couple thousand in upgrades, and some elbow grease, it would handle just about anything you could throw at it. with coilovers you could run 17X8's and 17X9's if you wanted check out http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21113 and the other reason is that anyone can buy a camaro and tweek it, but where is the fun in that!! at least with a z you'll stand out!
  24. i hear the 510 crowd love them too.
