  1. for the strip you would want a taller side wall for the simple fact that air and rubber are lighter than steel or aluminum. without spending a ton of money you won't find a 17" wheel that will be light enough for a strip take off.
  2. a five spoke wheel with four bolts looks crappy to me and i'd like to add some dish to my wheels.
  3. if you are hitting the rubber with your springs then it sounds like time to go to coil overs. check out http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=12 Ross has a great setup with spring sizes from 7" to 12" and 150# to 375# and no sectioning required.
  4. try the body kit/ kit car forum.

    Amazing car

that is 'A' Motorsport Auto Kit. there are others.
  6. Ross C. at http://www.modern-motorsports.com makes a good coilover kit.
  7. frame rails and floor pans are available at http://www.datsunzparts.com
  8. looks like a key shift typo 3:43 is just one key from 3:54. what makes the cv's a hybrid? are they shortened? and did you get the cv adapters from Ross C.?
  9. i believe 17s are the largest but you are still limited by the width. with coil overs you can go to a wider 17 or even an 18.
  10. here is a picture of ivan280zt's car with 18" wheels which i think look very sweet that is what i'll probably end up going with. anything bigger than that and you'll probably end up using rubber bands for tires to get them to fit.
  11. makes sense... if they are aftermarket you can never tell if they were installed correctly in the first place. it couldn't hurt your wallet to try swapping them.
  12. mileage is about 60,000 km. i think the exchange rate is about $0.65 US for every $1.00 CAD.
  13. i can pick up a black top sr20det front clip from an s15 for about $3800 Canadian. as far as matching the power of the rb26dett...that's kind of open ended!
  14. i don't know if you can swap them front to rear. my haynes manual shows the 240z as having two different length springs in the front. free lengths on the front are 14.1" on the left side and 15.1" on the right side. the rears are both 15.0".
  15. check this thread http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20595
  16. looks great!! so i'm assuming that you modified the front diff mount. did you also fab up some new rear braces so you could mount the sway bar? does it handle differently with that sway bar setup?
  17. i think that with the two pivots you would just tie the two strut towers together but they would still be able to flex as a unit. without the pivots you would add a lot more rigidity to the system. they look nice but you need function before form.

    280zx clutch Q

it is a hydraulic actuated clutch. meaning there is a master and slave cylinder that assist in engaging and releasing the cluch.
  19. i'm not sure, but if there is any slack in the wheel it is not a good sign. it could be that the little slack that is there is enought that, over the 24" or so diameter of your wheel, it could make the wheel look like it is out by an inch. i would definately adjust the tension on your bearings and replace them if needed. they don't cost that much. i think i paid $25 canadian for the inner, outer and seal.
  20. check out this site http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Boulevard/6117/zbrakeupgrade.html or http://www.zcar.com/articles/dat74z/brakes/ for front conversions and for the rear http://www.nitrophotos.com/240z/reardisk.html these are a few reasonably inexpensive options.
  21. at 440 lbs i think you have taken the shocks out of the equation! the highest i would go would be 250 lbs.
  22. remove the rear cover and look for the numbers stamped on the ring gear. divide the larger number by the smaller number and you will get the ratio.eg 37:10 would be a 3.7 and 39:11 would be a 3.54.
