  1. hey im not going to install these for another month or so, but im wondering if anyone here has any experience with the solex door locks, they are the barrel key type and look like they will re quire mods simply to mount them, let alone get them hooked up. if anyone is interested in them, i can get them for a fair price and will sell them for what i got them for, the datsun stock locks are kinda faulty, even brand new, and on top of that they cost a lot. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
  2. thats what i like to hear. hey if you have done a vega than this datsun swap is cake, it is one of the easiest swaps there is, its easier than big block in a camaro.
  3. i always thought it was torque blows up your driveline and hp blows head gaskets
  4. that guy hoover is selling a accell unit on buy/sell forum. 500.00 and probs needs 500.00 in wiring and sensors. sds is pretty good as well. average about 2000.00 for all equipment needed for efi. thats doing it on your ownsome.
  5. dang that motor fits good! i just showed those flicks to my boy kevin- were gonna 454 th400 his car up, and dang that looks nice, look at that clearance man! thanx for posting that, thanx a lot, which site did you get that off of? oh man, if our swap goes down nice enough, im gonna drop a 427 in mine too, man look at the stock mounting ear setup, were drooling over this one, drooling i say! oh man, oh man.
  6. stock datsun efi isnt gonna get you that far past 200hp, thats when you gotta motec that thing. man im telling you a four barrel turbo is off the hook! anyways the efi swap is probably really reliable, a turbo, a couple stops to the plumbing store, junkyard bov, a drill and a welder man, whoosh whoosh. crazy cheap. which supra is the mk3? my buddy who cant drive stick bought one from the auction, 1989 or so, man that thing is cool, has all this greddy stuff on it, turbo timer and stuff, whips a doughnut like what, and if you dog the clutch, it will two leg through second! and that thing weighs tons!
  7. thats freeking crazy? hey what if your car has a carb number already?

    RPM at 70 MPH

you would have to match your cam, intake, manifold, gears, diff gears to get the max potential out of your project, go 3.90 jor 4.11 with a lumpy cam that makes high end power in order to get it out the gate, i am not sure what your rpm would be with those gears, but i do know that my friend who has a mustang with 3.73's and a t5 does 80mph at 2900 or so, and they are good range for street and freeway.
  9. man, think about it and the choices are close, i think you can a warranty of some sort on a tremec though, if you can. ill get one as soon as i can get muncie number three to seize on me, the m22 is taking it a lot better than the m21s i had before. the t56 is a real tough trans, and if you could get the thing rebuilt completely before you installed it i think thats your best bet, maybe buy one purposely all the way screwed up? i mean it would be close to the same price to buy one with one or two gears fried right???? anyways i know your car will turn out great, if you need a part all you have to do is go to work right ?? alright homeskillet, holla.
  10. there are plenty turbo six guys on this site, do a search for this swap and a lot of stuff will come up. why dont you have some for now and get some turbo four barrel action going on, my boss built one that ran 13's!
  11. that is very true, very true. every yard i have ever been to has l28's out the kazoo. i saw a lot of turbos last time i went, making my decision to own a turbo 240z real easy.....
  12. ) hauling ass is not cheap, but it doesnt have to take your soul either. my bad playboy, if i had it like that id go t56, brand new only or from a good reliable source with ridiculously low miles, as for it taking abuse, i know a guy who has a 01 ss camaro, and with 2202 or so miles on the clock has blown his rear end, warped all four rotors and burnt the pads out, gone through three sets of tires doing doughnuts, has every single error code known to man flashing on the dash, and has broken third synchro on a t56, and killed the clutch, now think of that car with 60k, id had to think about the possibilities if i got that mans trans, paying more than 1000 to get some played out trans thats not for me. i would rather have a new trans than taking a gamble on a used one that cost me an arm and a leg and be crappy. you really want to kill that little unibody dont you? join the club , man ace, you a bad mutha(watch your mouth). either way tremec or a t56 are both great trans for the motor you have, i think youll bust either one so i guess it doesnt matter. for me if i go to a five speed it will probably be a tremec t550, it will bolt right up to my setup, be the most cost effective and plenty strong(at least for a week or so (ive managed to break everything else, why should the trans be any different.) im serious though, whatever you decide to go with im sure it will work out great, and if you need a helping hand just ask. Leonard btw: nice rice rocket
  13. my 78 black pearl limited edition only year of black in the s30 body style all original is rated at 170hp, and i think it has like 50 probably like 135hp to wheels, maybe.
  14. you could go to a junkyard and get all the bolts. you could heli-coil the broken one and leave the rest alone til absolutely necessary, if the bolt is neither bottomed out or seized, you can extract it out by drilling a small hole in whats left of the bolt, using and extractor and pulling it off, and bolt em all up and let it fly and see how it goes, ived had to do all of the above, im a college kid with no job too, no job but a full time hustler with the gift of fab...
  15. hey i have the diff issue too man! piece of crap square head. i think i could get it out but the way its setup i cant really a firm leverage point on it, well i think i could, i would have to get my car to the shop though, my little jack at the house wont get the dang car high enough to get the right grip. no couldnt make it a normal 14mm or something could ya, no...
  16. hey buddy. the reason i dont go with a six speed is because its a big money gamble, who knows what condition its like, you pay more than a 1k avg, and you dont know what cond its in, also, think of the way the guy might have been driving the car to have totaled it so bad that it ends up salvage???? you can get lucky or you can get really really unlucky. this is one of the reasons that a manual conversion is so dang expensive, my two other v8z partners in crime cant handle the manual conversion costs either, they are running th350 and 400 respectively for that reason. hey the cool part about that darkhorse or fortes trans is that it allows for a standard chevy mount and crossmember, and it uses the same setup used to activate a muncie t10 combo, which i have on lockdown, you can even use a muncie bellhousing to use the modified tremec. you are soon to be putting a lot of power through your car homie, you got to be sure here. especially since you have such a high revver(can you smell the jealousy here?) basically, mounting the tremec is like mounting a muncie, you would just need to set the crossmember back a couple inches back, no biggie. the hydraulics with the muncie swap are stupid easy too, if you want to make it even easier, hit up eric neyerlund at zparts.com, he has a scarab bell that enables a stock datsun slave to fully disengage a muncie-which will fully disengage the tremec-all you would have to do is get the bigger bore tilton and boom, you there man, you there, ya heard. cant mess with no four speed though.. im out like skiiiiiiirtttt!!!!! see ya buddy, when are you gonna get the party started anyway?? if you want, get the bay prepped and we'll drop that bad boy in in about six hours
  17. really nice swap, hey is it me or do the msa mounts give you enough room to run a mechanical fuel pump??? hmmm. i really like your center console and the way the shifter comes straight out the floor, reminds me of mopar/
  18. i had the same issue with my filler plug for trans, i went with 12" crescent and a pipe around the end, yeah baby.
  19. i like the zx swap alot, wish i could get it past smog. a carb motor would be cool, i think you have to take power away from in tank pump and run a mechanical? the mounts look really simple, just spacers on the stock datsun mounting horns and it will drop right in, the trans crossmember just takes a little help and its in, get a friend and some beer and you can rock it out quickstyle.
  20. hey i didnt know you ran the juice??? i want to go with the juice for sure on my car warrens hollering go with the computer controlled setup with tough solenoids and squeeze 80-100 from 3000-6000 in second thru the gears, i was gonna go charged, but i want something that isnt on all the time, i squeeze to you playboy...
  21. i wont sell my car until the games over..i love it too much. you have the parts man, why dont you just do the swap playboy. youll have a car that will weigh probably less than a stock z, and whoop major ass and get better gas than the stock motor on top and be quieter! , you just pulled this car out, you know you love it, now show her some love and drop the generals newest small block and six speed in that piece, you bit the bullet, NOW RIDE THE BULLET. six speed man!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. forget that car, your car looks dope datto!, i guess your turbo conversion turned out well, going with the g-nose and all. thanx for posting that crazy z, its nuts.
  23. try the cobra kit car sites, they have some stuff that might work.
  24. i think their is minor differences, zxs are better for fi swaps.
  25. you could have a place make you one that has an arch in the middle. or you could run a edlebrock proflo air cleaner backwards so that the triangle tip is facing driver, that way a standard strut bar will fit, thats ghetto, but thats what i would do, i have a scarab car too, im actually gonna make one with the curve, if im gonna go scarab, im gonna go scarab!
