  1. My z gets its best mpg right around 3200-3500 rpm with about 14hg manifold vaccum.
  2. You should set a goal for yourself and work towards that goal deliberately and methodically, it is the most direct and the cost efficient way IME. My example: Im building a z to practice drifting, if I get any good at this I long to be able to smoke up the whole track with long smokies sideways. I actually detuned my z to learn its true potential as an autox car and a drift machine. Until I get a competant understanding of the concepts of both I wont raise power. Right now I can drift the car fairly well but I dont get a smoke show, its more finese than brute power over technique. My goal is just short of 300hp, right now at 182hp the car will do whatever I want slidewise, this is also due to a well oiled LSD and a guy thats owned 10 zcars and almost killed himself in all 10. My supporting mods, fuel pump, fpr, fuel lines, ignition, braking and driveline shold support 300rwhp fairly well, but at my current detuned state they combine to form an incredibly well running car that screams at me to turn up the boost, its a raging bull with a muzzle basically. I know my goals and I have set the car up to perform, but only a ridealong track instructor deems me worthy.

  4. I run an HKS SSQV with the valve tightened a little bit, it works sure enough, but its even better when you are doing doughnuts and modulating the throttle, everytime you throttle on to get the car to spin you are instantly rewarded with a PSHHHHHHHHH.. Im in Heaven.. 8)
  5. 3.54 works good since the z is very light and the American transmissions are geared to pull a much heavier car off the line. The mix of the american trans ratios and the 3.54 rear gearing makes for some hairy acceleration.
  6. I think its a two way, I can get the car sideways if I punch it hard and let off the gas as I turn the wheel, a 1 or 1.5 way wouldnt do that, correct? I love my 3.7 LSD, the thing made me stop thinking hp and start thinking handling.
  7. One of the best would be an r230 from the 300zxtt or the r200 in an r230 case from a q45. With that conversion you get to use the mutant cv axles that come in those cars. should hold 400rwhp.
  8. Easiest way to tell if its scarab or not is if the engine mounts are straight up and down. A jtr conversion sets the engine back torwards the firewall and lower in the chassis, and the distributor ends up being under the hood mechanism. IN a scarab the engine sits a little bit higher and the distributor will be an inch or so forward of the hood mechanism.
  9. Anything is possible, but to put an r32 rear suspension into a earlier z takes a ton of fabrication, and one off parts.
  10. On3go, I cant believe you posted stuff about something this personal. This really must be bugging you pretty bad. Been there, I know how it is. I had my heart broken really bad when I was younger, so bad that I once thought I could never fall in love again. I realized that I was wrong, but from that experience I know that love takes time, and I will never tell anyone that I love them if I really do not. Sounds like you need to go out and meet some girls homie. Sounds like youre a sensitive caring person and you have cool cars, those two together mixed with some game can take you places. I meet a lot of girls, and I dont say this because I think I am a pimp or some kind of hustler, Im just really really Freakin Ambitious, and my ambition is really starting to take me places. My favorite motto is "Im not a pimp, Im a positive thinker." Buck up youngster, grab some ambition and fly with it. I found my calling in life and its made me a stronger and better person, there is no reason why you cannot do the same thing. IF she really is the special love of your life, work with it, but also keep your options open, youre a young man and life is ahead of you, life is a battle but you dont have to fight fair, but go in with your fists up and let em fly buddy.

  12. I think if the cars suspension was setup right, you could do some phenomenal drifting with a v8z. Great NA power and tons of torque, if you can keep it from looping youll do just fine. You are up against some stiff competition though, namely ME
  13. I start negotiating with them for fun. "2000 for my $18 dollar part, ok fine, I want 1700 ill send you 300" I have gotten them up to me keeping half their check, until I tell them to suck it.
