  1. if i had abs i would be happy, but i dont, so whatever, but i got turbo though i basically let the honda guys talk their crap, im gonna talk mine, every car group thinks their cars are the ultimate thing to happen to a car, you have to dont you? i dont even race fwd's anymore, none of them has proven themselves worthy over four years of racing them, best one ever got was two cars back when my clutch wouldnt grab-and he was turbo b16a livewire, why dont you get that turbo operation down and really show em whats up? man i hooked mudge up, and hes on his way to turbo power-SO CAN YOU.
  2. i would have to say that the more you modify the z suspension, the more angularity comes into play, if you leave it closer to stock, i think the issue is a lot less. then you have v8 torque on a modified suspension, where angularity begins to increase, and the need for a cv increases as well. i know at least one 11 second z car that runs halfshafts and has no issues, but he does have the ones with no zerk fittings in the cross, he runs nissan units, and has had no probems, but he is an automatic, but he runs halfshafts behind a supercharged 355 with a 700r4, probably be a little different with a stick.
  3. just got the one i won of zbaymotors.com, i am happier than a clam, yeah i paid a lot for it, almost 60.00, i have seen them go for almost double and it was worth the peace of mind knowing some salty kid cant fill me up with sugar, and its chrome, man im pumped!
  4. i still think its when you lower the car is when halfshafts are in danger
  5. the L motor has to be the easiest engine to work on ever, especially the alternator and starter.
  6. cv's are weaker than halfshafts, but can take my angluraity than a halfshaft. most of the time they go is when you lower a z and start beating on it, the funny angles over time wears em out, one of the reasons i refuse to lower my car.
  7. i like the two saab ic's welded together, or two starions welded together, ive seen thsoe done, and seen good results out of them/
  8. mine passes in california too randy!
  9. nissan6, i like the quality and i think im good at working on em, and i stick with what i like usually, unless i find that 62 nova. l28et, vg30det, rb26dett, .
  10. just photograph me and my z in front of the golden gate bridge with a twompsac SFC swisher sweet rockin a french inhale. thatll get the crowd hyped. just kidding, maybe just the hybrid z logo with silohettes of all kinds of motors overlapped behind or inside the letters, like you are looking inside the letters and theres just a million images of big brakes, posi, v8s, turbos, whatever. just an idea. either that or you can just photog me up at the gg bridge taking a twomp to the face like its my birthday.
  11. buy an ugly turbo zx car, nurse it to health, and mangle it to pieces, thats my 5#1t
  12. didnt want to hog out the to4 thread, heres my inquiry though. my humble goal for the car is to get 280hp out of the 280zt, safe and nice, i know fuel enrichment would be needed as well as good spark and and efficient piping and a good intercooler, all of which i am currently taking on since i have brakes and suspension right where i want it. I would be completely overjoyed to see it dyno anything in this ballpark of power. fuel enrichment would be done with an aic kit dyno tuned for pump gas once the bigger turbo is installed. i have driven to LA and back five times with this car, across the entire bay area from antioch to san francisco more than thirty times, and commute it on and off at least 60 miles a day, this is the kind of soldier car im building, my car gets 27mpg on a high vacum cruising speed, stays at 180-195, the extreme of that is a hot day in LA in stop and go traffic, and has sucessfully proven herself to be my friend. do i even need to go to a T3-t4 for this? I know the high powered turbo guys are laughing at me right now. I am not mad at all at the quick spool of the t3, car is to be used as a good daily driving sports car, with no autox, or drag racing except for an intermittant stop light go and maybe a few group trips to sears and sacramento. I like how the t3 spins really fast, since i dont have to shift the car at anything more than 6200 or so, but i know that the turbo has a lot of miles on it and dont want it to spoil one of my long distance trips, what would do me nice for my upper 280ish peak horsepower needs? a 60-1 t3? or a nice t3/t04b? i am not going with a standalone, eccs has been my friend for a good while now, and we understand ourselves pretty good. thanx guys, and yes, I am a nutcase.
  13. a full t04e should get you at 350rwhp pretty easy if you have everything beefed up to take it. hoovers turbo makes 500hp with a ball bearing t3/t4 with 15psi pump gas, plenty building though. man i cant make any sense of those dang compressor maps!!!
  14. ignition transistor is permanently attached to coil bracket.
  15. flying colors on all 42 checks, like a 30k toyota corolla rental car best part was that AAA was next door, and it was close to closing time, i walked right over and got my 2004 tags baby!
  16. we call the new fad of ethnic Russian rice rockets SPUTNIKS, they are starting to pop up like mad in the Richmond district, one of them has a 240z with triples i must destroy, the other has an early zx and needs to get stomped out the game. I have four more s30s to vanquish before i can claim fastest s30 in the SFC, two i am friends with have rebello motors, one guy has a daily driver three liter and claims 200hp, and the other guy has a 3.1 claiming 260rwhp, im going for that guy at high boost. i stopped calling my car a rice rocket when i started talking to a random group of import guys at the store one day, and they said that theyre car was all done up with kit rims and exhaust, and claimed 20hp from an intake. in their defense, they do what they can with whatever knowledge and resources they have, and make the best out of it in terms of personalizing their cars, just dont try to run the ugly black z
  17. i see chevy trucks with at least a 15x8 mag slot wheel, but i think 14x7 was the biggest in that style for a z or four lug size. if you want to run a 245/60/14 in the rear it will fill it, but it will ride sloppy.
  18. ive been staring at the front clips here at the warehouse for too dang long, we have some really nice stuff come and go from the spot, one particular motor of interest to me. the VG30dett, just gawked over one for two hours a jspec front clip, with the rear suspension crated up next to it. its either this motor or the supra, but i think a modern wangan midnite is gonna run the vg30dett or the RB-but it never came here i dont feel good about using it. i have tried to get ahold of the guy spotlighted in zdriver with the same swap im looking into with no sucess. granted, i have about a year before i want to even attemp this, but im getting all my data now. i have heard that the SOHC and DOHC are pretty similar in size, twin turbo having the added "convienience" of a turbo on both banks, making the steering column an issue, i would probably just add a ujoint to the column to get some more room there. i would just like to drop one in bone stock with the five speed trans connected to the r200, or maybe a five lug with discs in the rear so i could run the tt rims, which usually come with the clips if i make a special order and specify for it. any help anybody could give me would be great, it wont be for at least a year or so though, im going overseas for work and will be gone for at least six months starting early summer, and will be back looking to do a tt swap. thanx guys.
  19. drilled rotors are funny, slam on em and they make a great sound, car stops a bit better i think now, i dont know whether its the guys porterfields, the new calipers, or the rotors that do it, but my otherwise stock z braking system is pretty good at stopping me now. big sway bar is good for another 10-15 mph corner speed, even with my worn out suspension (the super squat ) body roll reduction is very noticed. didnt use the drums, kept for spares though. brakes and suspension is over with and im happy, now its time for some fmic!
  20. i just thought it was weird, that the changeover made me the fairlady 327 again. btw-i was posting as Len168 before the changeover.
  21. you can get 300hp with no ic, but you are seriously running the risk of blowing that puppy up. an ic isnt gonna help you out at all until you raise boost into double digits, below that you will be slower than the next guy with your setup, boost and no intercooler-he has less area to fill, its hotter air-but but hes getting his boost faster..
