  1. Too much heat there fella.Play with your amperage, start low and work up to and beyond the sweet spot. This will help you know whats good, whats not enough and whats too much. Once you figuer that out, setting up the machine for the weld at hand will be a snap.Practice,practice,practice...
  2. Ya sand out the defects and squirt those areas.Any buffing will alter the flat effect your looking for and be more noticable than the runs. Then post up some pics, wish I had the talent and cahones to attempt my own paint job. I'll just have to sell more frame rails etc.. to pay the man when I;m ready to repaint my car.
  3. Bottom line is, you need to be at work monday morning. All your other problems will increase if that doesnt happen. Do WHATEVER it takes to be there on time and start your new job off on the right foot and everything else will fall into place.
  4. I also have a series 1 chassis and its on the spit right now so I'll make note of the bolt pattern and when I make more brkt's, I'll add this hole ( each mount will have three holes to choose from) Must be having a flashback because i seem to remember making some with the addl hole. Sorry you have to drill some more holes. It should be only two holes.
  5. I'd go with the 16 ga aluminum ( .05" ) but you could use anything you mentioned. Go with whatever is most available.
  6. I'd get a quote from racer98 on this site before I sent money to anyone else. A bunch of us have been very satisfied with the transaction and the quality of his motors.
  7. Now we just need to fab a pair of exhaust manifolds and bolt up my stock RB26 turbos....
  8. Jack up the rear end so both wheels are off the ground and give a tire a spin. If the opposite tire spins in the same direction, its an lsd.
  9. Those look alot like these. I dont know what type they are ( Jim Cook, showcars etc).
  10. Nice work there Austin, hopefully I'll get a peek at the next Zdayz.
  11. Can someone thats done this type of paintjob give a durability report? I'm curious how well the rustoleum holds up. Thanks
  12. It made it onto the spit today. Its a little hairy jacking the car this high off the ground but now Ive got full access to everything.
  13. Well, its pretty much stripped and will go on the spit this weekend. The tranny had been making some nasty noises this last summer and heres proof that it was on borrowed time.
  14. Motors out and its on some stands I made a couple of years ago. This puts the car at a good height to drop the tranny and rear end, remove the doors, seats and interior to lighten everything up before it goes on the spit.I couldnt help not dropping the sweet hood I got from 280Zone on for a quik pic.
  15. Well, its been a long time coming and I'm finally getting started on this swap.Heres the last shot with the L28 in the car.
  16. Dang Yasin, that looks clean and nasty.how about some engine shots too.
  17. But he will not be forgotten. My feelings go out to his family and anyone that had the honor of knowing him.
  18. I made a gantry from some tubing and attached the motor with some threaded rods. This allows solid positioning, hieght and rotational adjustments. You need the tranny mounted to the motor too so that mount can be done at the same time. This also makes sure the motors rotation is correct front to back.
  19. Nice project for you and your kids.I'm not certain about the seat differences but I think the 280 seats are larger than the 240's
  20. The only reason I threw my number out was because I have a similar setup and as a comparison , seemed relevant to the post.
  21. A little over 18 hp per psi gain is very impressive. And given these gains, 15 psi should easyily net 300hp ( as long as the turbo doesnt run out of wind ) My setup is very similar and dynoed 326hp at 13 psi
