Matt, if you got one left, where shall I send the moola?

AIRLINE LAUGHS After every flight, Qantas Australia pilots fill out a form, called a "gripesheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers. By the way Qantas is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident. >> > P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement. >> > S: Almost replaced left inside main tire. >> > >> > P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough. >> > S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft. >> > >> > P: Something loose in cockpit. >> > S: Something tightened in cockpit. >> > >> > P: Dead bugs on windshield. >> > S: Live bugs on back-order. >> > >> > P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet >> > per minute descent. >> > S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground. >> > >> > P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear. >> > S: Evidence removed. >> > >> > P: DME volume unbelievably loud. >> > S: DME volume set to more believable level. >> > >> > P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick. >> > S: That's what friction locks are for. >> > >> > P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode. >> > S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode. >> > >> > P: Suspected crack in windshield. >> > S: Suspect you're right. >> > >> > P: Number 3 engine missing. >> > S: Engine found on right wing after brief search. >> > >> > P: Aircraft handles funny. >> > S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be >> > serious. >> > >> > P: Target radar hums. >> > S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics. >> > >> > P: Mouse in cockpit. >> > S: Cat installed. >> > >> > And the best one for last.................. >> > >> > P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Well, there you have it. Even though our vent lines are "open", there is still alot of air/fuel vapors rushing out when you open the gas cap. Apparently, the "vent" lines are not really wide open vents.

Actually two pumps in series. ----->----->----- to add pressure. In parallel you just add flow capacity.

Is the windshield seal re-usable or is it false economy. My seal is only 5 years old and has only seen about 8,000 Sunday miles. It's like new.

Isn't that very dependent on gearing? My 1'st gear is so low that I run through it in a flash. There is not enough time in 1'st to ever get to use much boost anyhow. I use a 200SX tranny and 3:54. It's too low.

Yes, lets do a Carlisle, PA, Z thing. I'm down for that. Congrats and welcome to the right coast. I drove around the US once too. I enjoyed every mile. Don't fret your new location too much. You will find a nice area once you get to know more about things and people out here.

What are you crazy? You want spend all that time and money and actually end up with a car that's worth more than a perfect 5k dollar Z when your'e done!!! (Z Sarcasm) LOL. Good luck.

Since my stock damper is squeeking, I yanked this thread out of the dark ages. Damper: 1) Look at the head of a spinning ice skater. Her neck is the damper. 2) Stand on a dock holding onto a slack waterski rope. As the boat takes off: What happens when the rope gets taut and the boat is going 30mph and you are standing still? OUCH!! If the rope were a rubberband, it would be a damper and your arms would NOT get ripped out of your shoulders. Fast forward to the year 2006: Anyone have a new or custom damper available for an L28ET with AC?

I kneeled at the front door of the cable company for three years begging them to run digital cable to my house. Now I got what I asked for...SUPER high speed data and a SUPER huge bill... worth every penny though... especially that HD TV stuff!!! Oh yeah forgot to add, my local phone lines would only support speeds of about 1 to 3 kb/s OUCH!! Now I get 1200 kb/s

Read the http://www.sdsefi.com website. It's ALL there.

If you turn up the fuel pressure on a leaky float valve, doesn't that turn a carburetor into an injector? Joking. Good luck on the 4bbl conversion. That takes me back about 20years to our first 240Z project ever. It ran well.

FMU/RRFPR with Megasquirt? And what fuel pressure?
cygnusx1 replied to boardkid280z's topic in MegaSquirt
Just an FYI. I run the stock ZX Turbo injectors from stock pressure up to 65psi fuel pressure during boost. A BEGI FMU controls the fuel pressure during boost and the stock regulator controls pressure during vacuum. I've been running like that beautifully for almost two years with no trouble at all. However, I am switching to a standalone ECU with larger injectors (HP is addictive). I will be selling the FMU because I want a constant fuel pressure to program a map to. Too many variables is bad for my brain. -
Datalog - Air Temperature vs. Coolant Temperature
cygnusx1 replied to sims76's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
That is great news! I am going to be switching to standalone and getting rid of the AFM and restrictive cold air intake. Now I see I don't have to run a cold air intake at all. That is exciting news to me! My intercooler is pretty efficient too. Thanks. -

sims, Where is the intake air filter now that you have the intercooler? -
Thanks but I just bought a set of six new Ford Racing 42# High Impedence on ebay for $225. I see that there is one set of Supras on ebay now and they are already at $100 so I don't feel so bad but THANKS for the info anyhow. I think the Ford/Bosch units will fit also. I am going to install them when I add the SDS. I am not yet sure about going with magnetic pick ups on the crank pulley-distributorless, or MSD-with distributor yet. Decisions Decisions.

I took the first step to get away from the HP limiting, stock '83 EFI. I purchased a set of Ford Racing 42# Injectors-Bosch Green Tops. I am going to go with SDS because it seems like a timesaver over all of the other systems. Time is money, and so is time lost behind the wheel of a turbo Z. I will soon be selling the Begi FMU, and the entire '83 system, also a set of six stock turbo ZX new injectors that only have 8,000 miles on them. I was able to squeeze out 265rwhp and 300rwt out of the stock EFI at 15psi boost, 65psi peak fuel, and a restrictive intake tube with full 2.5" exhaust. More is my goal. Driveability, Efficiency, and Power.

Here is some NICE injector info regarding some Bosch high flows. Low imp. http://wwwrsphysse.anu.edu.au/~amh110/Technical_pages/bosch_403_fuel_injector.htm

Going to the strip on Saturday (Maple Grove, PA)

Im gonna guess, 13.7 with a good drive. -
I read the entire SDS manual and supplememt today and It seems like a pretty comprehensive package. It looks pretty easy to mount up four little magnets on the crank pulley. I will need some bigger injectors though. I am thinking about Ford 42# off of ebay. I am not sure if they fit into the L28 manifold though....anyone? I have a JSK threaded fuel rail that I could convert to O-ring either by machining or adapters. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Racing-Bosch-42lb-hr-42-lb-Fuel-Injectors-8_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33554QQitemZ8054381817QQrdZ1

You can get arrested and you can get pinned for stealing the car if it is stolen.
-
Although these are O-Ring tops and require an O-Ring fuel rail (Pallnet or JSK), will the lower part of these fit a stock L28 manifold? I am not sure if these Ford 42# are Low or High impedence. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Racing-42-pound-injectors-brand-new-mustang_W0QQitemZ8055520957QQcategoryZ33554QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Could the rubber boot from the AFM to the turbo be collapsing from the vacuum? I ran into this problem after going to a bigger turbo and removing the wire from inside the boot.
-
Capital letters anyone? I think they look nice.

AFM connector. ECU Connector. O2 Sensor.
