  1. Google is nice and so is Streetfire.net -Thanks.
  2. I think you have a pigeon stuck in your intake. Don't let PETA hear that thing! Sounds nice.

  4. If the roof caves in, the harness will keep you from diving out of the way. Not good.
  5. Electric Brakes and a Parachute backup.
  6. Warped rotors or drums? Bent brake pad shims? Check your bleeding technique. Try leaving the handbrake on a click or two while driving to see if it improves feel.
  7. Good luck. Glad to hear you like the car even though it's been a hassle. Don't worry it gets better and better.
  8. I posted this site a long while back but here it is again. They have some real unique stuff here that may or may not apply. I used some of their stuff for my CIA. http://store.airflo.com http://store.airflo.com/rubber-hoses---clamps.html The rubber parts are very heavy walled and tough.
  9. A friend of mine just did his kitchen over with butcher block "sheets" from IKEA. It looks fantastic. I have no idea how much it cost but it sure looks great. http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15576&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=25731&langId=-1&parentCats=15576*16270*16273 or http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15576&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=60908&langId=-1&parentCats=15576*16270*16273 I still think if you can do the granite top with tight joints and avoid the word tile, it will be a good thing. How large are the tiles?
  10. Tile counter tops are way out of style. If you do a granite tile with zero grout joints it would look cool but as soon as people hear tile and counter in the same sentance, they run. Ever try wiping a tile counter top? What a fiasco. I have formica in my kitchen and solid granite in the bathrooms. Formica is nice but I am thinking of doing a concrete counter in the kitchen. They are real nice..look it up.
  11. Great question. I wish I had the answer for you. I will be watching this!! You might want to state what turbo you plan on using.
  12. I just read the article about Tire Slip Angles and Ackermann. I think I might just try my Z with a slight little bit of toe-out as it's only a weekend warrior and rarely sees a straight road. My tires must have low slip angle characteristics which causes them to fight eachother in full lock (Ackermann mode). I will ignore the parking lot antics and just tell people that the Shucking and Jiving is from Ackermann effect found only on "real" race cars. LOL.
  13. Thanks guys it's definately not rubbing anything and I have an open rear diff and stock steering knuckles, but good points anyhow. I thought it might be Ackermann...I will search the board for Ackermann. Could this also be causing some of my understeer mid-corner? I think I remember someone bending their steering knuckles to increase the Ackermann. NOTE: My steering has always been unusually heavy compared to other Z's. I have driven other 280Z's that steered quite a bit lighter with similar tire size. I have checked everything for mechanical functionality and it's all good. I think I have some strange alignment things going on. The car has never been bonked so at least that's a given.
  14. Why is it that my Z's front tires skip and hop when I am at full steering lock and backing up or moving forward slowly in a parking lot? My wheels are aligned 1/8" toe in and they are dead straight with the steering column lock in center position. The car is lowered 1" and the only geometry change is the addition of the JCR "bump-steer" spacers...that really only keep the control arms at a decent angle. I have 225/50-16 tires on 16x7 Panasports with the near stock offset. I am somewhat puzzled. It is also embarassing when the front end hops and skips while steering in parking lots.
  15. Shimming would have to be done very carefully. You would need to ramp the shim thickness up and down as you go around the bolt pattern or you might stress the tabs when you tighten the bolts. IMHO
  16. They are sweet brakes. They will need to be cut before you use them. Mine were very out of round. I tried all kinds of assembly, filing, and re-assembly but the only way to get them straight was to cut them. Yes they were brand new and warped.
  17. Scams were never very common with regular postal mail. Maybe 39 cent email stamps is not a bad idea.
  18. Mull, All I can say is that we all owe you alot of beer!! You have amazing skills and courage. Keep up the great work and keep the camera rolling.
  19. As I get older, I am learning not to like leaving my Z locked in a frozen shed for 3-4 months every year. I am also getting tired of the attitude of the people, and disgusted with the local taxes. NY has everything including mountains, city, oceans, great roads, food,....you name it. Flip the coin and it has too much hustle and bustle, too much cost, and too many people fighting for the same thing. Sometimes I just don't think it's worth the price we pay to live here. At least once a year I go through the phase, "Let's move from here!". Someday maybe we will. We are looking for the right moment or situation. We are looking at NM, NC, CO, UT. I love mountains, hate humidity, and have to have good windy roads. Of course, in reality, both my wife and I need good jobs/schools wherever, if ever, we move. The rest of our families are here in NY; making it a tough decision. We are about an hour North of NYC in the woods. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome place to live but there are a few annoying drawbacks like long winters, humid summers, high cost of living, and occasional crowds of obnoxiuos people.
  20. It's 23 and cloudy here....but I have my Z.
  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wey9--VVxAg&search=vw%20unpimp%20un-pimp Make sure to look at the other videos in the series also. Very funny.
  22. A friend of mine lost a bid on EBAY for a set of wheels and tires from California. The seller had a squeeky clean reputation. A few days after losing the bid, he received an email apparently from the seller stating that the winner was not able to pay up so he was offering the wheels to him at his losing bid. The seller stated that he would contact EBAY and have EBAY set up a transaction. A while later, my friend received an official looking email apparently from EBAY with all the correct details. It stated that he was the new winning bidder and he could send a money order to a specific address. Well my friend got suspicious because he was the fifth losing bidder and the address for the money order was in the UK. He forwarded the email to EBAY security and they said that it was a fraudulent email and they were launching an investigation. Apparently, this crook (not the seller) goes after a few bid losers.
  23. I love how you can hear the turbine clearly in the pipe.
  24. Driving in snow: There are three HUGE factors. 1)Tires 2)Suspension 3)Driver Tires that are all season are NOT real snow tires. You want snow tires and narrow ones. A stiff suspension will NOT work in snow. You need to drive as if there are eggs under both feet and in both hands. I drive a WRX in snow alot with Bridgestone Blizzaks at all four corners and I drive it GENTLY. It will go almost anywhere. I kept the suspension stock (soft) for this very reason. We have some VERY steep and winding hills here and I get around fine. It takes practice for sure.
