  1. The post is old but the parts are still for sale on ebay.
  2. Oh! that makes a little more sense. I am not seeing the spring perch but seeing the separator. OK all better. Dual springs seems an OK idea for street but I would think that a sudden spring rate change during hard cornering might upset the car.
  3. Ummm. But anything below the adjustable spring perch is not bearing any load. Thus, the spring shown below the perch is useless. I must be seeing something wrong.
  4. What are they? How do they install? Why are there spring coils hanging below the spring perch? http://cgi.ebay.ca/Racing-Dual-Coil-over-Coilovers-DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z_W0QQitemZ8045071211QQcategoryZ33586QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. "..tune with lambada, that way it doesn matter how the water/methanol/alcohol has effected your..." I will only use the Lambada in the presence of lots of alcohol!! LOL Hoke, I think you meant Lambda.
  6. My ACT 6-puck is holding 300ft-pounds really well. It feels like it has at least the capacity to hold another 150+ ft-lbs in it. It's a solid disc so it chatters a bit but I learned to drive around the chatter. The pedal feel is heavier than stock but it's not ridiculous. If I did it again, I would use an ACT disc with a spring center or a solid-ring disc to alleviate chatter. I like the pressure plate alot. NOTE: The chatter could be from my flywheel which has not been cut in a while.
  7. "... instead of the grateful joy that I expected, they were Words of quiet rejection! instead of praise, sullen Dismissal. I watched in shock and horror as father brown Ground my precious instrument to splinters beneath his Feet..." -Rush, 2112 The video has been removed.
  8. Until SEMA starts paying it's dues to the powers-that-be, all modified/personalized cars will fall under the category, "Weapons of Mass Destruction". 2112 is near. Read the lyrics if you don't know them. http://www.lyricsfreak.com/r/rush/119899.html The terrorists have won!
  9. I hate the way it sounds. Farty. The curb made him wheelie and then he hit the top of the can. The can did two flips under the car and ended up standing straight up agains the tree. Then he hit the tree and the nose dropped on to the can like a kickstand. I bet he can't do that again...at least with that car!
  10. WRX noses don't get seen very much anyhow. Most folks only see the back of mine. I never liked any of the noses on the WRX's but with time, they grow on you. There are also lots of cosmetic surgeries available for the WRX noses. Once you launch an AWD car, you will never go back to FWD.
  11. As I age (almost 38 now), I tend to work on my car alone more and more. Friends become further away either by distance or by their own lives absorbing them. As high school buddies in the early 80's, we BMX biked together and worked on our ratty junk cars so that we could cruise the streets at night. We worked on the cars and put down beer almost every night. Nowadays, we rarely see eachother. Each one of us still loves and mod's cars but we each tend to work alone due to distances and schedules. We try to get together as an informal "car club of buddies" at least twice a year. We don't always work on cars. We may do a breakfast, an autocross, a ski trip, a day at a track, or a car show. If and when we have a huge job to do on a car, we schedule a date and someone usually can help another out in some way. It is definately NOT like it used to be. Things change. Some for the better and some for the worse. Friends are valuable, especially old ones. It sometimes takes a little extra effort to keep in touch. Unfortunately, not all people realize that. If you are one of those forgetful types, put it on your busy schedule, stop, and call an old friend!
  12. Here is an old suspension story. http://www.jimcookracing.com/catalog/page16.html read the bottom in particular.
  13. I had a 1990 Civic with 60 flywheel HP. Yes, 60. It was still a fun car to drive. I had Tokico shocks and Si wheels and tires and it was a blast! I learned that with 60HP, you don't slow for a curve. You take the curve as fast as possible. If you want RWD, put it in reverse.
  14. I would say, Check brake booster. Check that the brake pedal is fully actuating the master cylinder. Prop. valve facing wrong way? Any fluid leaks? Front /rear master cylinder lines swapped?
  15. The GTO is going to be like one of those movies that makes more money released on DVD. It has all the right numbers but not enough magnetism to draw people off their couch. As a used car or "deal" car it is going to succeed. I think the very name "GTO" is what killed it. Although the car is pretty awesome, it is no way a "GTO" and GTO people were somewhat insulted. Now forget the whole "GTO" part of the car and just be objective, it's a great car! If you think you can swing it, go for it. Of course we want to hear all about it when you do. Baast, I didn't know you were moving to VA? That's only six hours from me and I drive through coastal VA to get to Cape Hatteras, NC once and a while. Good luck.
  16. This morning our local station here in Putnam, NY was giving away concert tickets to the first person that could answer the following question. "If you are driving a 280Z, what brand of car are you driving?" I think there are probably only two Z's in there entire listening area. I wonder why they picked the 280Z...
  17. Before I did my turbo motor swap, my entire car body was pin straight. I tried to protect the fender tops with cardboard, quilts and and towels. No matter, I ended up with a few gentle waves on the tops of both fenders. They are very slight waves but since it was cherry prior to the swap, It bothers me. I don't do bodywork. I have seen the Paintless Repair poeple do some miraculous work before. Do you think that it's feasible for them to bring my fender tops back without removing them? Like I said, these are very very slight waves that can only be seen in the right lighting.
  18. Show the Porsches who's boss! Good luck.
  19. I'm not trying to be a wise *** but why is an RB break-in different than say an L28 break-in? Aren't they all made of the same materials? Iron, Steel, Aluminum... ...or is it the clearances that make it different?
  20. I wonder why my 280ZXT shafts fit onto a stock 280Z. They are almost compressed to max but they fit. My axles look original 280ZXT and as far as I can tell have not been rebuilt or modified.
  21. You should have told me you were bored. I would have gladly given you my job and split the paycheck. You show up in place of me, work my job, I enjoy your retirement, and you get half my paycheck. Everybody wins!
  22. That's what I love about a Z. When you have free time, you just go to the garage or shed and find something to improve. It's better than any therapy. Nice job. Z's keep me sane.
  23. Watching the clock waiting for some more hoke vids! Looks awesome.
