  1. http://zzz.com.ru and do a search on Asiatech. Download the MP3 and listen closely http://zzz.com.ru/asiatech.mp3
  2. These sensors are tuned. Electromotive cannot tell you what range theirs is tuned for or what application it came from apparently. I ran across a thread concerning this last night at the forums found here -> http://www.vishnutuning.com/welcome.htm It was some Miata guys talking about it as I recall. They gave some good advice on figuring out how to choose a sensor. Hope that helps guys!
  3. If you've ever been close to ANY news story or worse had a statement taken by a reporter and then seen it on TV you'll know how accurate. These guys will snip statements to only show what they want you to be saying - completely out of context - and will report facts to support the story they want told. Given a choice NEVER speak to a reporter. Run Run Run!
  4. http://interstice.com/~garfield/ check it out - dual O2 outputs. Fairly cheap compared to some and it's sourced in Cali. They also have a VERY nice setup for doing datalogging! One of their setups is using Compact Flash cards to store the data for later retrieval and can store a great deal of data. These W/B allow for calibration and for pressure compensation. The output is also linear which makes using a voltmeter or custom gauge easier. When I can get the ECU I want for the Z this could very well be the setup I go with for the dual O2s - the price is right IMO.
  5. Okay, I want to see the vid but the link is dead - anyone?
  6. For those interested in forced induction - a friend of mine is looking into turbocharging his V8 SBC. He's spoken to one of the premier guys for doing this kind of work in this general area - Jobe Spetter from Turbo People - and the rough quote he's gotten is $5-6K. Fabricated headers, turbo (single), and intercooler all put together. Not super cheap but this guy does top notch work and I'll bet Scottie recognizes the name. He's done some nice Buicks in the past and he tuned Racin' Jason's car (RIP) if memory serves me right. I'll know more when he's gotten the config better nailed down and still more when the work is done but I thought this might be of interest. Pete - you know you want a turbo right? I know I'd love one!
  7. Might be too big but wanted to point it out to you guys.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=1875494341
  8. I believe the 1JZ turbos will hold you back from hitting 500RWHP. The motor IS capable of that without internal mods but those turbos are ceramic and boost limited. They also have ZERO lag. Finding single conversions for gthe 1JZ in the states isn't easy so you'll be fabbing or paying for fabbing most likely. I could be wrong though - the www.i-supra.com WEB site has a 1JZ section where you could find out more answers. A JDM 2JZ motor can be gotten faily cheaply - under $4k and probably under $3K. It's got crappy turbos too and small injectors but you'll be dumping that anyway. Cams are supposedly smaller as well but stock cams can be gotten somewhat easily as Supra owners upgrade. Single upgrade kits for the Supra have been DROPPING in price lately. Seems all of the shops have picked up on the budget minded consumer and are fighting for their business - this naturally started AFTER I'd bought my single Kits capable of over 600RWHP can be had for less than $3800. At this time at least 4 shops are either offering them or are selling them. Fuel would best be sourced in pieces from someplace like Garageadvance.com - who also has a budget turbo kit out now Just get a rail, spacers, and standoffs - maybe injectors - from them. The rest of what they've got for the Supra wouldn't be needed. Honestly - I thought the RB motors could make power like the JZ series without internal mods. I'm kind of dissapointed to hear that's not so. I've admired those motors for some time - the SR motors too. I think a 240SX with an SR swap would be a blast to drive! P.S. 3700lb Supra are capable of daily driven 10 second 1/4s. I know someone who owns one and when mine hits the track I hope to be deep into the 11s - 10s I'd faint. That's pushing over 550RWHP and a little over 600RWHP on race gas. Drop that monster in a less than 3Klb Z As it stands now I can toast the tires from a roll in 3rd, possibly 4th. These are 275 555s and I may go back to DRs. I'd love to do this swap!
  9. Anyone see the single turbo setup in MM&FF this month? Log header on one side, crossover under the balanacer, stock looking header on the driver's side. I'm not sure where the 5.0 (5.7 maybe?) lines up in the Z but this puppy woul dbe pretty sweet in a Z. If nothing the pics might give folks ideas on building a turbo setup for the 5.0 Zs Check it out!
  10. Got the 300+ on my car. Nice and small, wired up fine on my car as I recall. Not fiddled with the programmable advance stuff etc. as I intend to go EFI eventually...

I'm with Scottie - who wants to claim "better handling" when Hondas are passing you left and right? The SBC weighs about what the L28 does properly equipped - I'd say it handles just fine with the V8...
  12. Dude, you're RIGHT up the road from me. I'm a bit further West but commute to Reston and sometimes Tysons or Vienna. Kewl
  13. Don't bump wattage - it'll fry the headlight switch. Trust me on this, you need to switch to relays on the headlight wiring harness. The difference will be night and day. Been there, done that. You'll be shocked at the difference. If you search here you'll find more than one post on this....
  14. Read the link. OSRAM and Phillips are OEM providers of this stuff. NO OEM vehicle comes with a hotter color temp than 4200K - there's a reason for that. Do the relays first, if lighting QUALITY is what you're after that may be all you need to do in order to get good light. The Sylvania SilverStar bulbs are supposed to burn at 4000K and should be closest to HID quality - DOT legal. I've got a set of these for my high beams but haven't installed them yet, I'll try to post back when I do. I've heard good things about them...
  15. Tim is exactly right - this is why I'm running a PAIR of 255LPH HP pumps. On boost I'll see pressures as high as 80PSI! At that pressure my pumps are putting out a good bit less than 255LPH each BTW - I'd run a wet shot of nitrous or a standalone ECU that allows you to add injector pulse width instead of monkeying with fuel pressure. Screwing around like that is asking for trouble - no way would I do it that way. Rupture that FPR diaphragm and all hell breaks loose. fuel gushes through the vac line into the intake - filling it quickly...
  16. I did HID on the Supra. The light is MUCH brighter but it's also more directed. The LENS make a BIG difference as tohow well it will come out. I'm not sure a generic H4 replacement would be the best way to go. H4 lenses aren't like projector lenses where a bulb can be easily swapped in and get decent lighting. Lots to learn about HID but if you do it I'd stick to 4200K Phillips systems. Hotter values only give you funky colors and less light. http://clublexus.com/Information/Tech%20Tips/General/HID/hid.html You can also search for HID on Supraforums.com and find more than one thread discussing it. I've not yet had time to better adjust my lights - right now I've got a dark area in the middle and some hotspots out front. The cutoff is very sharp with the exception of an aberration up high on the left side - a result of the Supra lens it seems. The bulbs I bought were supposed to eliminate that abberation - they lied.
  17. What I'd read was that the Skyline was coming over here as an Infiniti and that it would be V8 N/A. I think that would SUCK. That page says otherwise and if so TERRIFIC! I personally like the Skyline and want it here like NOW. AWD and turbocharged with at least 300BHP. If they can do that I may break open the piggybank and grab one. That's a recent article too - sweet. When's it coming out? Hrm, and I meant EVOVIII. It sounds good, we'll see. The "rally" Lancer they're selling now has drum brakes on the rear Hrm interesting -> http://216.239.51.100/search?q=cache:APDNCYtKAW0J:www.autoexpress.co.uk/t/news/mitsubishi/powerhikeforevoviii/news/mikepenny/2-jul-02/id27929/+EVO+VIII&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 330BHP for the EVOVIII? Skyline will have 350? Skyline is going to cost a mint I'm afraid STI will be around 320BHP with a 6speed.
  18. VB IS Precision and it can be gotten cheaper elsewhere as I discovered after it showed up. It didn't fit really well around the hatch and I had to cut it in more than one place. Overall it was okay and cheaper than OEM. OEM is
  19. I'm running a pair of Walbro pumps in tank on my Supra. At high pressure like 100PSI flow drops dramatically. If you hunt around you can find some sites that have flow tested these pumps at pressure. Walbro has a designation for pumps that cantake higher pressures to - HP is what I THINK it is. these cost a a bit over $100 - about $125 if memory serves. In my case they're actually not terribly noisy either. If you can run dual pumps consider this type of setup. P.S. Watch the amperage draw too. Stock supra pumps flow GREAT but a single one draws as much as TWO Walbros! Guys run these in pairs too but when you add up the draw of the pumps and accessories you don't have anything left! Higher pressure draw more power too BTW.
  20. THAT is going to be one WAY cool car when it's done! Please keep us posted on the progress and take LOTS of pics! The RX7 guys are going to flip out
  21. LOL, oh okay. Depends on the weight of the car though. A tubby car might need them to run 12s Supposedly 550cc injectors on the Supra are good to about 500RWHP. 75lb injectors get you up over 700 I think - more than I'll need. I'm hoping for mid 11s, a friend went 10.7 but with an automatic. I've got no illusions concerning my driving ability What a fun roll-on though! Traction control will be in the next software release, I need it! BTW - I've got a T-78 on my car. A T-88 is a bit bigger. Both of those are DWARFED by that monster! I can only imagine the sound that thing must make at full spool I'd love to see a video with sound of something like that spoolin'! Is it going to be run on gas?
  22. My point is that the gains from switching to an electric fan are dyno proven. Even when the hydraulic clutch is supposed to be freewheeling the silly thing ROBS power. An electric fan only works when needed and if you use a 2 speed fan you can run lesser cooling and hyper cooling only when it's needed. Hrm, and I still say the Black Magic fans simply have a weak motor. They have a shroud after all but they seem to overheat any car they get put on. One of the Lightning vendors is trying to use one in one of their electric fan conversion kits in the stock shroud - it overheats. Haven't a few members here tried them and had problems?
  23. Actually my car is a 1995 and they cost that much in 1993 too! By 1997 they were reducing prices but it was too little too late. What did the 300ZXTT cost back then? RX7 wasn't cheap and was a REAL serious track piece but I don't think it was as much as the Supra. Supra isn't the best for the roadcourse but they do it occasionally. So far as I'm concerned we're NOT comparing Apples to Oranges. I had the hankering for a nice car and wasn't willing to spend TONS of loot for something like a Viper. I like to MODIFY my cars, I can't leave anything alone! So for my money the Supra made the most sense. Why would I buy a new car?! That 5 year warranty is going to be voided so many different ways and so quickly. Heck, just getting the thing moving near as fast as I'd want would void the warranty. Those turbo kits that have been mentioned? Oh yeah - warranty smoked! New cars don't make sense. $30K is a ton of money for a car I'll want to modify. And modifying it will cost a ton to get the power I'd want. I'll wait a few years and see how others fare getting power out of it. I still contend they stepped backwards. Cars are a hobby for me and the 350Z doesn't offer enough potential to open my wallet. I agree that they will sell on their looks and people will love the handling but already the owners are getting a wake up call at the stoplights. What are they going to compete against, Hondas? It's like bringing the Skyline over and making it naturally aspirated - what's the point? Oh yeah, supposedly they're doing that too I hope that doesn't prove true too...

  25. Nuthin' wrong with 75lb injectors Mine is daily driven with 75lb injectors and the gas mileage didn't suffer any worse when I installed them. Still about 12mpg Something to do with me always putting my foot to the floor
