  1. hihihi You americans are SO easy to get pissed off. very funny. ok maybe driving over that little rock was a bit over the top but come on, leaf springs . Don't get me wrong I like the corvette. It has a lot of road presence. Especially here in Holland. It turns heads. I can't say that about a 911. tell me is a 911 something rare in the states???
  2. I am building a turbo engine for my 260Z and I have a european turbo exhaust manifold. All the turbo exhaust manifold I see on the web are of a one piece design. The manifold I have is made of three separate cast pieces connected with two flexible joints. Now I have a huge problem because after 20+ years the flexible pipe broke. And you guessed it. You can't buy a new piece..... OK..... This is bizar. While I was typing this post. frank280zx called me and told me that he knows another guy here in holland that has a good machine shop AND is a Z nut. This guy broke exactly the same part TODAY and is going to come up with a better solution. I guess whe will have to wait a while. I will keep you posted ( with pictures).
  3. I don't think you can make your own oil feed cheaper than this. In the end it costs about 20 dollars. And that is because I had to buy a 5 meter lenght of copper tubing. The parts were bought at a general techno parts place.
  4. I am working on a new oilfeed also. I opted for a some cheap fittings with a 6 mm copper line. Total costs will be under 30 euro's (about 35 dollars). I am going to take some pictures this week.
  5. 80lt1, I don't think its a good idea to hookup the port to the exhaust either but don't think that the exhaust can't suck . If you have a leaking exhaust you can feel it blowing when you are idling. But when the exhaust gas speed goes up you can create a venturi efect and this wil creat a low pressure. This is why a leaking exhaust header gasket can throw of your O2 sensor readings. At higher velocities it will start pulling in air.
  6. hi, I have been following this thread closely because I also have an oil consumption problem. When I am driving on the highway and I release the throttle it start blowing blueish smoke. So I though valvestem seals. I replaced the seals with the above mentioned ford seals and it made no difference whatsoever. So I am back to square one. My engine is a N42 block with a P90 head. The turbo is not on there yet because I wanted to get rid of this oil consumption first. I also noticed that my L26 dipstick is shorter than my L28 dipstick. Could it be that I overfilled the engine and it smokes because of that. I have also check my compression and all 6 cylinders are close to 145 PSI. This seems like a good value. So I guess my next step is to do a wet compression test? oil consuption sux.
  7. I Was just think... In an impact the seat would not be taking your weight. The seatbelt is what keeps you secured. Aluminium might not be such a bad choice after all. Don't take this as advice though, It's just something to think about.
  8. frank280zx who is also on this board has a model of that transformer. I believe it is chrome plated aswell. very cool.
  9. great information. And great timing too. I have one ready to be installed in my turbo project but everyone says it is not a very good intercooler. Well maybe it is not the greatest but it sure is better than nothing judging from your numbers. thanks.
  10. i'm using a very old 120 MHz pentium toshiba laptop running win95. works just fine.
  11. You just have to hope they don't have to transport a donor leg. It just wont fit in the front compartment
  12. here are some more pictures. This must be where they get there inspiration from. big picture warning: http://www.xl5design.com/spinner.jpg it's from the bladerunner movie.
  13. Gollum what you say is probably true but keep in mind that if you go upgradeable hardware and more pc like architecture you (most likely) will also start getting pc problems. I have never, I repeate NEVER had my ps2 crash. This is something the pc croud can only dream about.
  14. I derusted my fuel tank with floor cleaner. The stuff that is used on tile floors. I contains more than 40% phosferic(sp?) acid. This cleaned it out pretty good. After that I coated it with a epoxy coating from a local polyester shop. has worked great since. About 30 dollars in material.
  15. I wonder... How would a car like that do in the 1/4mile?
  16. Today I was shoveling a heap of garbage that was dredged from the canal in front of my sister house when I found a white dinner plate. It was a smal miracle that it was still in one piece because it was on the bottom of the heap. I cleaned it a little and when I looked on the bottom I saw this: http://members.chello.nl/x.worrell/images/plate1942.jpg It is a luftwaffe plate made in 1942. I googled the name of the manufacturer and they are still in business. http://www.bauscher.de . Today is a memorial day here in the Netherlands where we have one minute of silence for all the casualties of war. And tomorrow we celebrate our liberation from the germans in 1945. So you can imagine my suprise to see this plate turn up today. I'm not sure what to do with this plate. It is to comon to donate to a museum. they must have made thousands. I think I will sell it to a collector or something. Although I don't like the idea of this plate possibly going to a modern day nazi. (not that all collectors are nazi's). What do you think? I could just keep it of course or are there collectors on this board.
  17. great catch! it's not a Z but yesterday I bought a complete alfa romeo 164 for about 120 dollars. I posted an advertisement for a 164 with a broken engine (I need the body) and a guy called that had just spun a bearing. He was so pissed off that I could get the car for 100 euro's if I deceided immediately. sometimes you get lucky I guess.
  18. Why don't you store it away for a while and buy yourself a small econobox. That's what I did. And when the times get better you can start with renewed (sp?) spirit. A bonus about this is that when you get back to your datsun you will love it to bits because the econobox is so bad. Having some money left over at the end of the month is a great stress relieve too. I hope it all turns out well in the end, Xander
  19. If you put a hot drink in a thermos it keeps it hot. If you put a cold drink in a thermos it keeps it cold. How does it know?
  20. I once had a problem that a car would start and then die right after I returned the key to the run position. It turned out that the ECU got power in the crank postition but not in the run position. Perhaps you should look into that. This also aplies to the coil. Good luck
  21. I have build a small surge tank. Now my MSD 2225 pump is a lot more quiet since it is below the fuel level at all times. Works great. It never really fixed my fuel starvation problem because that was caused by a rusty fuel tank. I have fixed this by derusting and coating the inside of the tank. I did not have a stock tank that I could have used. My european spec 260Z didn't come with any.
  22. Wow 30 dollars for hallogen fluid. You can get real euro headlight fluid for that much
  23. I "fixed" one last year by unplugging the vacuum line of the EGR. This fixed the stumble and bad running. Don't forget to plug the lose vacuum line or you will get codes. no wait. that was on a 3.4 lumina. oh well it might work for you aswell.
  24. Does anyone know of a good forum about converting a regular car to electric propulsion. I was hoping for a forum allong the lines of Hybridz. Nice, knowledgeable (sp?) people that do ther own stuff. anyone?
