Hey thats my old thread! nice! I'm not sure who you emailed back and forth.. but my 280z has been on the rotisserie for over 2 years now and is great. I slide it around, wheel it outside, spin it every which way. Works fine for a light unibody like the Z. Yes you can use them as an engine stand when you are all done... its just a little higher up I am tight on garage space as well. so in order to park my other car in the garage, i rotate the Z on its side.. problem solved.

Propane burns at a temperature of 3,595 °F MAPP gas burns at a temperature of 5,307 °F So.. if you used a propane torch.. this is the reason why. MAPP gas will get the metal hot enough. That is an extra 2,000 °F for melting metal. EDIT. I just noticed you used Oxy/Acet torch combination. Oxygen/Acetylene burns at 6,330 °F. Now I am curious.

Can I assume you purchased the coil over kit with the spindles and its pre-welded and shortened with tokico struts?! or did you buy the weld on, ground control coil over kit!?

Would it have been easier to cut holes in the floor pan and lower the cage down to weld the top of the cage? Im just curious as to why you cut holes in the top. Never seen it done that way, but I like it!

Be advised.. you can only use the JD2 on a rolling cart, IF you have a hydraulic ram. Which just adds more money to the total investment. Using the hand mechanism requires the stand to be bolted to the floor. Keep that in mind.

I spent countless hours researching and reading reviews on tubing benders from race car builds to 4x4 builds and forums. Speedway benders seems to be the most cost effective, versatile bender on the market. The JD squared requires a floor mount setup. Whether you drill holes in the concrete with anchors and drive bolts in every time you use it, or find a permanent place, it is required. The cost of the JD squared bender, + a die, + the floor stand is quite the investment. Also, the JD squared until requires quite a bit of horizontal space to do bends. A fairly large space is required for bending a main hoop, preferably a empty garage with no Z parked in it. Now the Speedway Bender can be stored easily, its portable to help out friends (or rent on craigslist with a deposit and daily charge) and all of the bends require space in a vertical direction. That means you can work in a tighter area. Or drag the unit outside for a few hours and drag it back in. The customer service with Speedway seems to be top notch, as I read several people had issues with *earlier* versions of the dies cracking. Those have been replaced with no additional cost and they updated the dies. When I can spend the money.. I will be buying a Speedway Bender

Let me advise you on something you might enjoy. I broke the cylinder head bolt in between cylinder 3 and 4. I tried tapping it and removing it.. and i broke the drill bit in the stud and in the block. I tried welding a nut to the end.. the weld broke. Compression remained equal across the board, I ran 18psi and daily drove the Z for 3 years. NO problems. As crazy as that sounds. Maybe I got lucky.. but it didn't effect a thing. Good luck.
