I'm guessing he made them bigger because the size of the drum brakes to the rest of the car make the drum brakes look HUGE.

I don't see a Z in that picture..

What is this and do I need it?

Do you have Air conditioning? If yes, they they are probably the valves for controlling the vacuum to certain parts of the AC unit. If you plan on keeping the AC I would look through the FSM and get them in working order, etc. If not just take them off. -
The rivets are hidden behind the window when its closed but when you open it I think you can seem them, I can't check because I just took mine off. Also earlier Rx7 hatchback seal works alright, its a little bit harder to close the rear lid but it works fine for me. The thread these were mentioned in was something like Cheap upgrades for Z's or something all I remember is it took me forever to find the thread last time and silly me I didn't bookmark it. I have some left over 2+2 parts from my other 2+2 if you ever need anything, Its not much but I have some stuff, mostly smaller stuff except a driveshaft from a 75' which is shorter then the other years for 2+2's but I digress..

My 240z T31 moving to colorado?
19762802+2 replied to chrismiller5157's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
+1 I usually drive a 73 VW super beetle through the Garden of the gods every few nights or when I feel like it, Its a great drive not usually a lot of traffic and the corners are lots of fun in a light RR layout car. I can't wait till I can finish the Z and take it for a drive through the twisty's as well. -
My 240z T31 moving to colorado?

The snow isn't so bad down here in southern Colorado, even then we haven't been getting a lot lately, You really only have to worry about the crazy weather in the spring and that only lasts a month or 2. There are a few guys on here that live in Colorado and a few in Fort Collins (which is a pretty nice place, haven't spent a lot of time there.) Colorado has a pretty nice car culture depending on where you live, down here in the springs its pretty popular to see tuned street machines since we don't have any emissions laws down here, but farther north like Denver they aren't as common too my knowledge at least. Any car can do good in the snow if you know how to drive it well in the snow and buy appropriate tires. Also I believe in some places they lay down sand on the snow for traction, but its most likely a sand/salt mixture. Usually when the snow gets bad enough its just best not to drive anyways because chances are someone will slide into you. Its best to have a beater for the winter that you don't mind that gets banged up. Also another thing to consider is that the springs storms can get pretty bad up in the fort collins/foothills area, Thats usually where the Hail, Tornadoes, Snow, etc is the worst. I'm sure some of the Z guys from northern Colorado will chime in. -
280zx custom shaved front and rear bumpers
19762802+2 replied to catfat's topic in Body Kits & Paint
I believe those were one of custom bumpers and there was talk about producing them but I don't think it ever happened. -
rivets hold in the chrome around the rear quarter windows, You could probably just find some new ones or screw them in if you wanted. I don't think they sell weatherstripping for 2+2's they probably do but its expensive, so If you wanted you could search the threads about cheap junkyard parts (can't remember the name) but you could use the weatherstripping from a Izuzu Trooper I think thats what it was, I can't remember for sure.

Since the forum resizes pictures for me at least anyways, and the picture is too big to be viewed I usually just right click and open it in a new tab and it resizes to about my monitor size. I don't really mind the size of the pictures because that can be a hassle to go through a lot of pics to resize and there are ways around it but the picture quoting is getting a little old.

I remember a thread about those Spartan Kit cars. IIRC they are getting pretty rare and they were built somewhere in Texas I believe.

I would keep your Toyota, You will probably miss it a lot once you get rid of it. I would save up for the Z and keep the Toyota as a daily driver, because most likely you will get bit by the "while I'm at it" bug.

Your car should have a mechanical fuel pump connected to the head of the engine, as it's a 240z, I am under the impression that the 260z's had the electric/mechanical setup but I'm probably wrong. Anyways the 280zx pump won't work it pumps out about 30+ Psi, For the carbs you need about 3-4 psi, Maybe less I'm not a SU expert. You could run a fuel regulator with the 280zx pump but IMO thats just going to cause the pump to burn out over time. The best thing to do would probably be to buy a new aftermarket pump that should pump about the right psi (do some research on this) and that should fix that IF the pump is the problem. There may be something else that is causing the pump not to work, You should probably do some more reading about the SU fuel system and some other things for your 240z If you don't have the Factory Service manual from Xenons30.com you should probably get that and study it. Good luck.

EDIT: Nevermind.

Sorry to say but you probably shouldn't buy a Z then unless you plan on keeping it stock and not doing much of anything to it. I have owned my Z about 5 years now I'm about $4000 into it (still haven't driven it) and I have another $3000 till where I want to be and maybe a $1000 till its road worthy and good to start driving. I'm keeping my stock engine as well, I know for the guy's that decide to swap motors it can add up to even more over time. If you just want it as a beater and keep it stock with a few little things it should be fine, but otherwise they are just as big a money pit.

On stock suspension, and the correct backspacing 10" wheels would be fine with flares, no way with stock fenders but flares it would be fine, lots of a done the Rota's with stock suspension and they're 9.5" and they fit fine with flares. With 10" wheels you need about 4.5" or 4" of backspacing with stock suspension you can run more with coilovers, so with 4.5" or 4" of backspace you would have a -20 to -30 offset, which is about the same as the Rotas.

Have you checked underneath the car? Its possible it won't go into park because of a problem with the linkage, I may be wrong though but it would be something to check, also the e-brake may be something simple if you haven't checked, might be easier to fix whats there then have to replace it. Where are you located? I do have a Auto trans I don't need and it works, I have driven it before.

When parting out a car, you can possibly make more money then selling it. It really depends on the market at the time, time of the year (you will sell more parts in the spring then the winter or fall.) and the kind of parts you are able to sell. If its a major part that most people want it should go fast but the little parts, well plan on holding on to them for a while. If you live in an area that isn't big into datsuns and their aren't a lot of them for sale, you can either have great lucking selling parts to the few people that need them or not a lot will be sold locally (this is where shipping comes in handy). With my last Z, it was a 2+2 and pretty junky body wise so I just stripped it got rid of the body and kept all the parts as spares and sold whatever I wasn't going to use or I could make a profit on. The big thing is time, could take you a short time or a long time to sell the parts, as opposed to making all the money you can on the car at once by selling it.

You can probably buy a tilton offline and have it shipped to New Zealand, also 2+2's just have a plate covering the clutch hole area, just unbolt it and it will be good to go.

Carburetor woes.... Help me out?
19762802+2 replied to S30Mark's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I'm selling a 2 barrel intake setup for $350 or trades if your interested. -
If you want to lift your car you should do it another way then just buying larger tires, because if your tires are a different size then stock then your going to have issues with your speedometer being off, I would suggest using the Miata tire calculator to find the right size tires you will need. Also if your car is that low that your body kit is dragging like that maybe you need new shocks and springs/struts. Or you could trim your body kit so that it fits a bit better I guess, but thats up to you. Also I work at discount tire so I get a pretty nice discount but buying the cheapest set of tires (215/70/14's) would cost me $250, so you may need to raise your budget to get some decent tires or tires at all.
