  1. Hey Viper, do you think you could do a write-up for a sticky? Mods?
  2. Brian, did you look at the "racing" version that MSA has (what you have pictured is the "street" version)? http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/PSDC09 It sounds like you aren't looking to spend that much but I would be curious if you, or anyone else, had any thoughts on that one. thanks
  3. So I'm bored at work and looking through the MSA online catalog and notice this: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/PSDC09 I had no idea MSA was producing (or rather, paying someone else to produce) a camber plate kit. I haven't seen any posts on this site or zcar about it, so I guess it is somewhat new. Anyone have any experience with this piece or know someone who does? Thoughts?
  4. Oh, guess I need to learn to read. D'oh! Are you in an area where you can get a complete running 280 motor for a reasonable sum? I realize you have the EFI stuff laying around already, but sometimes it's just easier, and maybe cheaper in the long run, to get something that's ready to go.
  5. Someone more knowledgeable than me can go into more detail, but the head won't have the injector notches on the intake ports (unless someone put on a 280 head at some point). Then, of course, you will have the ancillary issues to get it working (i.e., electrical stuff, fuel tank, fuel pump...ect.). Oh, and be prepared for someone to tell you to use the search function:-)
  6. A good solution to the "unbalanced" issue might be a BRE spook with the stock lower valances. I'm not a big fan of the airdams because I think they all hang out too low, making them susceptable to steep drive entrances and speed bumps...ect. The stock lower valances taper back for a reason. Your car looks great though. Love that grey.
  7. Clifton, do you think it would be a good idea to install a scattershield with this much power?
  8. Oh, I wasn't doubting Yorgee's work, I was just trying to see how you do this without being scared that you're going to screw it up. Using the firewall as a reference makes sense though, thanks.
  9. Guy (or anyone else) do you worry about water collecting in the center of the hatch, or does it drain to the sides? That has always been my concern about the rear spoilers. In my case for an S-30 but I think the issue is relevant for both. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, just curious:-) thanks Your work really does look good by the way (you too Vinh).
  10. Rebird, when I bought mine, Dave told me it was a OEM Nissan diesel clutch (I assume he meant the maxima). Just give Dave a call and ask.
  11. Yorgee, I guess the one thing that looks real intimidating on those install instructions is getting the plates perpendicular to the center line of the car. I mean, what do you use for a reference? It's not like this is something that can be off a little bit.
  12. Yeah, I'm getting pretty stoked about it myself. My "personal request" was the supra spoiler, but since MSA no longer sells it there wouldn't be much point.
  13. Well, we have until March to get it ironed out. I think that's a good thing. Hell, we may still get enough donations for two full days. Wouldn't that be cool?
  14. BJ, you have a donation. Can we make this thread a sticky?
  15. Mike, I agree with you. I do plan on donating, but I hope the baseline car represents what the majority of us have to start with. Don't get me wrong, I'm very curious about all the different aspects of aero-modifications but how many of us are going to drive a street S-30 with flushed windows, filled gaps, blocked radiators, 3' wings, puddied over drip rails...ect? I don't have to have a gaurantee that a certain unique combination of parts are tested before I donate but what BJ is describing seems very narrow to me for a starting point. Or am misunderstanding?
  16. "If VG's help stick airflow to the hatch window, doesn't that increase air pressure there?" No. The greater the speed a fluid flows over a surface, the less pressure it exerts on that surface. Try this: Take a piece of paper and hold two corners such that the paper is taut. Hold the paper in such a way that the edge of the paper that you are holding on to is pointing up but then falls over forward in front and away from you. Then hold the paper in front of your mouth and blow hard over the "hump" of paper and watch what happens. This is a good and basic illustration of fluid flow and pressure.
  17. Well, the one I'm thinking of is the one from the old supra's of the early eighties. That was the real angular style. Here ya go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-Toyota-Celica-Supra-Parts-Project-Car-Blue_W0QQitemZ110042409657QQihZ001QQcategoryZ6447QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem MSA and VB used to sell a version of this spoiler that fit the S30. I say "used to" because I just looked in my latest MSA catalog and it isn't there.
  18. So, has anyone here actually tried the supra style spoiler?
  19. Bryan, if you're really concerned about the heat, get your exhaust components ceramic coated. I'm sure you know that already. Another benefit: sound reduction. Do y'all think doing this to the underside of the hood would be a good idea?
  20. Anarchy, how about some pics of your new ride?
  21. So, it is significantly faster than the S30 wiper?
  22. Top End makes a triangulated brace. Question: If you install camber plates can you still install a strut tower bar? It seems like there would no longer be a place to bolt the bar to.
