A litte update, I removed the actuator rod and moved the flapper at the turbo i was getting about 30 degree movement.I noticed when I attached the wastegate rod back on I got only about 20 that last 10 degree was the issue thats when I put the aircompressor and blew into wastegate hose. Nothing was stuck turned out the wastegate assembly was bent towards the front of the car. I bent it back to the rear closer to flapper blew some air back and saw the whole flapper engage and disengage. Took the car out for a run beauttttty holds tight at 5-7 psi ! Now to install the Manual boost control and turn it to 9 psi Iam reading up and some people have mixed opnions for the boost source. Some say Its best to take it from intake manifold and some say the best is at the turbo. What should I do? and which fitting of the MBC goes where?

Thanks for asking this question I also have a t3/t4 that I got from my brothers theres alot of sideplay. Earlier today I was researching turbo rebuilds and your right they dont seem that complicated. You know what we did turbo swap, head swaps, efi conversion and the most terrifying megasquirt (I still wont do a tranny rebuild :S) Rebuild kits range from 30-80 dollers whats the worst that can happen? if you mess it up you could always send it to a pro right? And theres the question of having it rebuild by a pro $$$$ or just forking a little more over for a either a new or slightly used unit. I will definatly by rebuilding that turbo I have. The only thing I am stuck deciding is which turbo rebuild kits are suited for a t3/t4. While I was researching it seems that most kits give you extra parts with different sizes of bearings, seals and C clips to suit a wide range of turbos. Also where is your oil leak?

I think you got other underlying issues.

I have the distributor your looking for 75 dollers I also have a bunch of other turbo parts. I dont have the shaft though I see them go on ebay qutie often.

with the rod connected to the flapper try to move it?

THANKS ALLOT that was really informative I am going to just that in the next couple of days. I will so try to find a regulator for an air compressor and bench test the wastegate to see when and when its opening and closing. I ll keep you guys posted.

yah they are the same except the signals I just put a 280z type on my 240z

Delerious do you know the procedure off hand to testing the wastegate. KTM thats pretty interesting but your referring to a 15 psi external wastegate correct.

zmanco The calculations differ the megamanual says 440cc will support 400 hp

There has to be something I could do. I dont think this would be a boost spike cause it stays at 15 psi and the stock boost should be only 5-7 psi. There is something definatly wrong here. If I punch it and hold it at WOT it will hold 15 psi 10-15 depending how full a throttle Im pushing. Iam going hose to change the clamps and hoses on the wastegaste could be leaking. Any ideas guys should do lengthen the rod of the waste gate?! sorry I am new to this and trying to remember what I have read about wastegates/turbos

Now it wont start, 56k beware, lots of screen shots..

Congrats man I knew it would work out for you. Feels good doesnt it? Is it holding a good idle?how about drive? play with the dile screw get a healthy idle. Now its running check your timing at idle. You say you have a wideband no? Whats it showing on idel lower the VE table time to tinker around. Something tells me your injectors are not configured right either MS settings or wiring. Check your opening times, how there wired on each driver, injection control try 2 squirts alternating you know right away if there is a difference, pwm, batterey correction voltage (when the batterey is weak it powers them differently I had that on my car messed me over for a long time.) -
I dont have a boost controller yet. I wasnt going to put the blow off valve to fix my problem. I was refering to the pop off valve on the intake that I plugged it vents at 10 psi. Just as a measure of protection, however it looks like I have to test my wastegate. Could be a bad one..I dont know though cause I never ran the car till now. Whats the best way to route the wastegate signal? Mine is a T 2 vaccum lines both to compressor side of turbo, the other end is to waste gate. Should change the source to intake manifold?

Hey guys, I just finished getting my car running and trying to break it in. | Its a stock l28et just rebuilt motor. stock everything pretty much . Iam using ms2 with EDIS ignition . My issue is I drove it the other day looking at the boost gauge and it climbed to 15 psi and heald steady. I dont have an IC or a BOV yet it was a bit scary cause I heard some pinging. I havent made any adjustments to the wastegate or diaphgram. Iam going to put the Pop off Valve in the meantime cause it started pinging and I dont want to take any chances. I also have a cheap ebay graigner type MBC could this resolve my issue? since I was going to eventually put it in anyway.

I just got mine running. 71 240z soft top l28et freshly rebuilt f54 block bored over .5 mm over, ITM psitons, arp rod/rod/ main hardware p90 head lighly resurfaced dissambled new valve stems polished valve cover (+8 hp) turbo intake manifold welded and smoothed out all emmissions stuff removed, my own fuel rail similair to pallnets waiting to throw on 440cc with pallnets rail. 240sx throttle body msa perfomance pulley stock turbo, stock exh manifold ms2 EDIS ignition 2.5 dp and 3" exhaust resonator and magnaflow 240z fuel lines swapped return / pick up gas tank using drain as pick up with a walbro 255 that just died stock boost 6-7 psi creeping to 15 psi :S just breaking it in now FMIC waiting to get thrown on MBC BOV bigger turbo soon

are your springs set in the insulators right like where the coil ends. ? another thing is exhaust? when I did the r200 conversion I found the hangers that connect the control arms ( the rear part of it) are literally touching the mustache bar.

that cracked me up

Hey you cant just use a different distributor! and different injectors? and also mention your not sure of all your wiring and expect it to run!? and mix n match at this point you sound like a megasquirter. I recommend reading up on allot of information in the archives...goodluck I am not trying to deter you away but It took my at least 3 years to get my setup running and I was sure of all my wiring and had proper parts. The best advice I can give is knowledge is power so the power to you brother.
