  1. I know someone who made an AWD 240sx. Last time I saw it everything was mounted and he was bleeding the ATESSA (or whatever it is), shortly after that he posted a video of it on a dyno to prove that it worked (apparently otherwise people would not believe him). What I remember him doing was cutting the strut towers out of the skyline and welding them into the 240sx and bolting in the crossmember. I have no idea how the rest of it worked.
  2. I thought the 240z had a mechanical fuel pump mounted on the head; and didn't use a bracket. correct me if I'm wrong.
  3. I'm tired of my truck and want to get somthing different. Right now im really seriously looking at a monster 900. My dad is very against it. I dont live with them anymore (I support myself living on the opposite coast), but still take his opinion into account. He's worried about my safety, His cousin recently had someone turn in front of him, and suffered pretty bad head injuries. He is convinced that if I get a bike, that ill get into an accident no matter how vigelant I am. I'm convinced that if I'm careful riding and take the proper precautions I can avoid a serious accident. I walk to work, have friends with cars, so only need to drive when I want to. In about 8 monthes I'll be moving, even then its only a mile between where I live and where i work. Not worried about theft or vandalism. His alternative is that I find a car(Datsun!) I want, buy it, and he'll drive it to me (from washington to south carolina if need be). I'm not worried about creating a rift, he's still gonna be my dad. What ever I do its my decision.
  4. I bought one of the second ones, only paid $250 shipped. Looks awesome, dont know how well it performs (my leave ended before I could get it completely plummed), but it fits nice on my 240z. I'll see if I can get some pictures posted, but it might be difficult (car and camera are in washington, im in south carolina). Do a search for Mishimoto to find the ones for $220 ps, it looks exactly like the second one, box is the same(little carboard wedges too)
  5. I ran out of $ soon after I bought the IC, then before I could get any more work done I left for boot camp and right now the car is on the wrong coast for me to work on it.
  6. I'm in Charleston right now, and it will be atleast a month before I get a car. After that I'm definitely going to check out some of the tracks.
  7. I just got stationed in south carolina, and am wondering what kind of automotive events happen down here. I've heard that theres a new really good race track in georgia. I don't have a car down here yet, but in another month I'll either be buying one or having my Z brought over.
  8. I have one in my '70, I had to cut out the center grill support to make it fit, and without the air dam it might interfere with the chin piece. http://yachtingphotography.com/chris/yellowz/icmounted.JPG
  9. I think this -might- be what it is. There is a small spacer plate that you have to remove from the end of the crankshaft before you put the flywheel on. I installed the entire cluch and transmission assembly from my '71 240z onto the (auto) 280zxt engine.
  10. Brown '72 240z-free-older brother left it at my house for a couple years, it became mine. Silver '72 240z-free-almost bought a race car (240z) from someone, this was their 'other' z, it had gotten broken into (rear hatch smashed) '79 volvo 242-$190-(needed a clutch and engine mounts) '88 nissan pulsar-$240-(needed a clutch) yellow '71 240z-$400-didn't come with wheels or seats. '81 280zxt-$450-used as a donor for engine and wheels.
  11. I went by delta cams a couple weeks ago to talk to them about a cam for a friends opel gt. From what the owner said the lobes that are welded are stronger than the original ones. The only down side to the process was that it cost more than just regrinding the cam. The shop looked good and the owner knew what he was talking aboutt.
  12. Dead Alive is one of the best (unrated version, The R one cuts too much [funny] stuff out)
  13. Just going through the programs that came with my computer Windows Movie Maker seemed decent, and Movie Shaker is pretty good, You might check out some of the adobe premier type programs, I'm not sure if they ever released a cheaper more basic program (they did with photoshop). Of course if you had a Mac I would just say to use iMovie(its free) and does a great job.
  14. Another thing is that starting in Aug 04 its going to be legal to import r32 skylines into Canada due to the early cars being 15 years old, I think theres a similar rule in the U.S. except that its 25 years instead of 15.
  15. I have 2 of these, one is a green 12x20 I use as a workshop, the other is a 12x12 clear greenhouse one we use as a storage shed. It has been up for about 5 years and is holding up great. The best part was that I bought both at a garage sale for ~$80. The only issue I've had was that the dark one gets pretty warm inside during the summer w/o any ventilation.
  16. I like this one better http://www.praxissystems.com/ It's about 3500 but from the reviews I've read works really well.

  18. GRM (or classic motorsports) had an article on collector/racecar insurance. They discussed the different types of coverage and what would be included with each one, it might be somthing to check out. You might check their website or give them a call.
  19. Thanks jeff, I saw this on another forum yesterday and was trying to figure out why it was measuring accelceration, but was too lazy to do a search for the watermarked logo.
  20. I read somewhere that it was possible to bolt the 280zx front brakes onto the S30 hubs. According to the website (dont remember where it was) it resulted in the brakes being biased too far towards the rear. I'm not sure if he had upgraded the front tho. Might check out the most recent GRM for an article on brake biasing, and an earlier one on calculating the effects of changing brakes (hydraulic pressures and the variations in force caused by changing the various sizes of the pistons)
  21. 5 min of uncompressed dv video takes about a gig of space jon, you might check out 911 media down by REI in seattle, they have editing work stations you can rent. I might also be able to put it all on a dvd, or compress it in a different format(got a new g5 with all the goodies, 2.5gigs of ram, dvd-r ect.) tool is good, prodigy, nin and crystal method are also good.
  22. I heard about one on another board. http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=mydoom&cid=9543 That might be it.
  23. I didn't do either, used stock tank and lines. works fine for now.
  24. Stuff like this has been around for years, apple had a decent one. I havnt dealt with any for a while. A really wide angle lense helps, the problem with *most* digital cameras is that they don't have a full 35mm chip, and you get either clipping around the edges or less than optimal detail. The other thing is that you have to keep the optical center of the camera in the same place otherwise comes out looking bad. For shooting objects it helps to have a turntable so you can keep the same settings and focal point(important) on the camera. A tuntable large enough to shoot a car on is not very common, but do exist.
  25. If you're interested I know of a boxy caprice with a sbc (305 or 350) thats being sold for $400. Its local to seattle. I can post the info if you want. Check out fairlady motors http://www.fairladymotors.com if you need help. Doug knows alot about z cars and has better prices than the dealer.
