  1. Incredible! I just watched the TV special on youtube...really amazing job.
  2. I think you'd be a lot better off getting a Fidanza flywheel. They are 10.5lbs and they have a replaceable contact surface...much easier to deal with than trying to get it resurfaced every time you need to change the clutch. I believe they are a lot safer to run than lightening a steel flywheel that much, as well. They were 285$ shipped on ebay last time I checked.
  3. Nismo headgaskets are made by HKS, and that is indeed what Courtesy sells as far as 1/2mm metal headgaskets. How long ago did you order yours?
  4. Rotisseries are SO NICE. Having spent over a solid year helping with cleaning/prepping/painting/cutting on a rotisserie car, there is no way in hell I would try and do it with the car on the ground. I think that both my cars will eventually go up on one for that treatment. I would be surprised if leaving the glass in caused you any problems, but I don't know anyone who has done that.
  5. It is constructed as a one piece tire and wheel together (hence TWEEL.) You buy a new "combo" every time you replace them.
  6. The turbo flywheel has a 240mm contact surface (vs the 225mm stock) so you can run a larger clutch disc. If you're planning on running a 6puck or 4puck, I don't think it really matters which one you run, as neither of those clutch discs use the entire potential clutch surface. If you're going to run an organic disc you will gain a little more surface area, and you can run the 280zx turbo pressure plate. 40$ is a very good deal.
  7. The sidewall would just be to lessen the odds they are rejected for looking wierd. The biggest problem they have been having is vibration and noise. I sincerely hope they solve at least the vibration part, I can handle the noise.
  8. Been waiting patiently for these to come out. I don't really care about the convenience factors so much as the 10x increase in lateral traction that they are claiming.
  9. John, I know the rule is real and I've seen video of several cars getting crushed. My question is, is the car crushing mandatory every race? What if there isn't anyone who is "cheating" or anyone who gets a majority of the votes? I thought I understood why it was a necessary thing to keep people from bringing, say, 2000$ cars to a 500$ car race...but if people are just taking out whoever is in front, that's garbage. I don't want to spend a ton of time, my spare parts, my entry fees, and the $$ for good tires and cage, just to have some people say I did "too good a job" fixing up the car and trash it. What were you guys (with the miatas) doing in order to get singled out?
  10. Right...I've read the rules aux, but it doesn't tell me what really happens. Does someone's car get crushed every race, or does there have to be an overwhelming majority in the votes? Do you get your entry fees back? Seems like they should give you 500$ for the car, too, if they feel like it's worth so much more. We've scrapped 5 z's or so in the last year, all of which were free (no titles), not worth saving, and seemed to me like they would be good for this kind of thing...I don't think we would need even close to 500$ to get them ready to race, once you subtract out tires, brakes, a cage & harness. But there's no way I'm going to spend tons of time getting a car ready if people are just going to be "no fair, a z (or miata) does too well on the track, crush it."
  11. I don't trust people that sell "cheater" cams. Just my .02
  12. When you take the line off the filter, is the gas that's coming out red? Have you replaced your fuel filter?
  13. What the hell...I can understand that brand new BMW getting crushed, but why your miata? Were you winning or something? They just take out whoever's in front? We were going to get a 260z (not worth saving) running and take it out there, but if you are just punished for doing well even when you are obviously within the rules, forget it.
  14. Awesome. Did anyone's car get voted for crushing?
  15. Yes, that is a lie. Mario, you let other people work on your car? I'm surprised at you!
  16. Sounds awesome! You should take some video. I look forward to the day I'm comfortable driving my 78 for 6 hours...
  17. I went and checked just for fun. It's not even remotely possible. So where you goin in the Z?? Coming through Baton Rouge?
  18. Did you call Courtesy Nissan? That's where I got my replacements. They only sell them with outer tie rods, but they are OEM...it was worth it to me.
  19. That's 30R7. In one of the Z's I bought, the prev owner did the same thing - used 30R7 from the pump to the damper. One day I turned the key and SPLASH - gas all over the floor. No fun, man. Replace it.
  20. I think showing a more realistic reaction would have been a lot funnier. Like have them crying while screaming, like most brain dead, strung out models would be, if you suddenly started cornering over the limit of traction when they thought they were about to go sight-seeing. But...I kinda really want one. (A 370, not someone paid to pose.) I've never really wanted any car newer than me before, it's an odd feeling. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccytimix3G4
  21. Definitely looks like you got a great deal - I just hope you are on good terms with your neighbors!
  22. Ouch. I like the Hi-6. This is a shame.
  23. I put the lower mount on today. Took a little doing.... I didn't want to shave the upper mount, but I shaved it just enough so that I could bolt the mounting ears flush to the diff. I didn't have to remove much material. Otherwise the bottom mount wouldn't have had room to bolt between the diff and the crossmember. I didn't have to slot any of the components in order get the bottom mount, but I thought I would for a while. I was able to loosen everything, bolt in the bottom crossmember, and then tighten everything up. It's rock solid now...can't wait to test drive it.
  24. Have you already found/bought a boot to use? If so, can you tell us which one?
  25. Brakes are the only thing truly keeping me from driving it.
