  1. Nice drawing Terry! I kept up with the program for a year - trying to return the favor Dave did us by letting us borrow them for free. I just don't have much time now, and no PM space.I posted the last people who had them in the main puller thread. It was kinda hard to communicate with everyone near the end there, so you guys will have to try and contact them yourselves. Thanks again Dave.
  2. I'm not going to really get into this one, except to make one point. I PREFER the laptop, it's much easier to program. You can buy/build the little remote display (Megaview) and I believe it lets you program everything you'd want to mess with while the car is running. So if that's what you really want, you can have it with MS too.
  3. Disclaimer: this is purely third hand information and may be entirely false. I heard that the VG30DET's were pretty cheaply had (relatively speaking) from some of the larger JDM engine importers.
  4. Wasn't there a huge stink because the donations made for the families of the victims of 9/11 to the Red Cross never got there? Then they had some lame excuse about "redistribution among other programs." Maybe someone here can post some other alternatives.
  5. Guys, I'm not even to the upgrades part. You can spend a lot going through your car making sure the stock suspension, drivetrain components, and brakes are working correctly. Of course, maybe he'll be lucky and there will be nothing wrong with any of it. The point is, if he spends all his money on performance upgrades now, he many not have anything left to fix that busted ujoint, cracked brakeline, or screwed up slave cylinder when he finds out about it in the next 5000 miles of driving. I know people in this situation personally. Not sure how you can take issue with that Mike. But happy new years anyway!
  6. He doesn't have a turbo motor yet. Making sure the car is running well and safely costs money. Could be in the thousands depending on the condition. If you're on a budget that is where the money should go first.
  7. I would start with going over your brakes and suspension to make sure they are all in good shape. Pull out all your interior and look for rust and leaks. If you're on a budget, look for a turbo 280zx for sale and don't spend anything else until you've driven the car for a while and made it safe and reliable. That should come first and can cost several thousand dollars by itself.
  8. Right on man, didn't mean to sound snippy or anything either. I just wanted to point out that I agree with you - he didn't originally mention road racing until after I showed the seats and I have continued to post info about them because so many other people are interested...anyway no need to apologize, I was just confused at where you were coming from. I don't mean to beat this into the ground either but as far as bolstering goes, these things hold me in really well. I'm sure fixed position seats could do an even better job, but I am really happy with these. I drive my 77 with stock seats every day and there is no comparison. Also since someone mentioned junkyard seats, the best junkyard seats I've ever sat in were from a turbo Impulse. Those things have excellent lower bolstering on the side (adjustable too - plus lumbar.) I gave my set to a guy in our local club when I got the DAD's and he was able to install them without too much trouble.
  9. Mine came out of a 300zx with tan interior. Black goes with anything man!
  10. TPS from the 240sx TB is perfect.
  11. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7942770905&category=33701&sspagename=WDVW 330$ Free shipping free harnesses included. Very good prices, mine were used but I traded an AK for them.
  12. On topic, the answer is: all the cool kids are doing it.
  13. Try this - go to the file menu on your browser, click save as, and if it gives you the option, choose "Web Page Complete" type in the file browser. That will save all the pictures. Then browse to and open up the html file you saved in Word.
  14. Help? If you're so inclined, yes. Not that it's your duty or responsibility, but if it makes you happy, go for it. Honor? I don't think so.
  15. Did any of you use a heat gun or at least a hairdryer? I'm pretty sure that was in the instructions. Once you do that you can get them to fit much better - hold them in place for a couple minutes while they cool. Also, wanted to let you know I used rare earth magnets to attach my covers. 14 2mmx6mm discs on each bracket, each magnet has a 1/2lb pull. They are incredibly strong - I attached them to the brackets with JBweld. http://www.gaussboys.com And yes, you really really need to have buckets that are not on a car to do this right. I can't imagine trying to do it on the car - what a nightmare. One last thing - does anyone have or know where to get an extra rubber strip and mounts? I bought a single cover from a guy but he never sent me the rubber or mounts and stopped returning my emails.
  16. They're not boxes, they're individual breakers that replace each glass fuse. You just snap them in instead of fuses. I have one kit left so whoever pays first gets it. I can order some some more with my next large order of wire but there will be a lot more delay.
  17. I like the red maglight Joel.
  18. It depends on your torque curve. Use the quarter mile spreadsheet posted earlier, that will tell you exactly what it will do. If you're already trapping 105, my guess would be that it would hurt your quarter mile times.
  19. You won't feel good for very long.
  20. I hope your mechanic knows what he's doing. If so he sounds like a pretty cool guy.
  21. This is really great, thanks! I would like to know (maybe in another thread) where you guys sourced JDM motors - assuming you considered them a place you'd go to again. I've read about what seems like hundreds of untrustworthy resellers. Who are the good ones?
  22. If you're interested I have an auto-reset breaker kit I was selling on ebay. I have enough breakers to put together one more. Each breaker snaps in place of your stock glass fuse, in the stock fuse block. Stock cover won't fit over them without some modification. It's 8 - 10amp circuit breakers 3 - 15amp circuit breakers 2 - 20amp circuit breakers which is exactly enough for the stock 280Z fuse block (not counting california/canadian cars. 38$ shipped. I have been running them for over a year with no problems.
  23. I would ask on the IZCC list too. They have at least 8-9 people from Chattanooga registered.
