Have you ever been to a Dyno/shop promo event? Most of the times they have a BBQ or some sorta food or snacks, and drinks. They open the shop for you to walk around (only a little bit) and see the cars they are working on. Then they have like a car show and a DJ or something like that going on. Its all just a good bit of promotion and they present prizes for certain things on the dyno. Such as highest N/A hp, highest F/I hp, guess your HP at certain rpm, lowest hp.

I promise I understand what you are talking about. I found mine for 500. Things wrong here and there and mucho work. My car has come a long way. I finally got it where my 280z harness was in the car today and I actually plugged in up and put the battery in and the wipers and stuff worked. I was super happy. Hopefully I can start it in a few days, maybe next weekend.

Man that 1999 S15 gets my eye. To bad it wouldn't even be legal and it already cost almost 10k. Plus shipping. There is an R32 for like just over 2000 I believe on there. Shipping then your screwed when they take it from you.

If datsun prices could go up anymore I would be surprised to be honest. Most people think they have some kinda collector item and think that it is worth a fortune. There is a dude selling a 78 on craigslist I think for like 8500. It says partial resto. Which it honestly don't look very good.

Oh yea, its update time. Its on the ground. I have my obx. It should be ready to go in the car coming around Friday. Hopefully (fingers crossed) the engine will go in on Sunday so I can mock the transmission mount. Fuel cell is coming along well. Wiring isn't looking to bad, then again thats been done for a while. quite a bit more exterior work to do. I will let the pictures speak, you can still tell its come quite a ways.

I may just do that. If it gets rid of any noises that will be good. I really hope I didn't get it to hot so it blew a head gasket or anything. I really don't wanna screw with it, finally getting work done on the z because I had something to daily drive and wasn't wasting money on other stupid crap. Now this happens.

Ok, I think I figured it out. The gas in the oil is because its a freaking old car. Going to change it and see what happens. Other than that, it was overheating because the water pump is bad (that is where the noise is coming from). That is what made it run like crap. I popped off the radiator cap to find it nearly empty. After it had cooled down it seemed to run much better. I am going to replace my water pump and probably the radiator and hoses just in case they leak. Hopefully I am not dumping money into a lost cause.

Well, I have what sounds like might be a broken rocker arm. It is a KA24DE, it has a horrid noise. It stalls out, is burning oil of some sort, isn't running right at all. I know they are notorious for the timing chain rattle, I don't believe it is this because everybody reporting the rattle say that there isn't a power issue or anything making the car run bad with this. I can also smell gasoline in the oil. Any ideas, haven't gotten to pulling off the cam cover yet. I am totally S**Ting my pants because its my daily. It stalls out and doesn't want to start back up and I have no other car that I can drive.

A while back I looked at a much cleaner 79 280zx for 1000 in Santa Fe. If you are in Hobbs I would just say take your time and find another car that is worth it. Go to the albuquerquez.com and talk to the guys on there. Ask for nelson, he may have a good shell. Last I recalled he had a decent running 81 turbo. No promises but if you are looking for a car, he will find it. In New Mexico there are lots of cleaner rust free cars.

Works fine. Store brand 96 cent can of black spray paint held up to a 240 degree engine temp and oil being spewed on it on some race car valve covers. You should be 100% fine.

I think it is way beyond anybodies expensive/time level to galvanize an entire car. I don't even see you finding a z so rust free it be worth doing so. I really don't think a car made of Japanese 1970's steel is going to hold up to an acid dip. You are probably better off tracking every single mold possible/known to man for the car. Then taking your time to recreate the car while making specs better (solid rails front to back/thicker metal). Then doing the whole galvanize and then may as well have it submerged in the paint to cover all the surfaces like they do at factories. I figure if you go through the expense to galvanize an entire car. This probably is around what you would be willing to do anyway. Keep in mind, after Galvanizing you should not be welding on any of this metal. Really neat idea, would have to be crazy/rich/in debt to do so.

If you look at the pictures, the holes had been cut out. So I had to weld them up and re drill the holes for the stock mounts. The stock mount holes have been re drilled and the mounts are on. Transmission mount is proving to be interesting.

Well. Now that I never update. Been working, not on the car but my job, lots. Don't make enough money to get to many treats but My OBX should be here Monday. The washer set around the same time. I started putting the wheel bearings back together. I bought a shaved manifold and 60mm TB from FlatBlack. I got the transmission mount out of the black 280z. The car is now gone. After I get the mount welded in I am going to be dropping the engine back in. Then get the OBX and differential put together and it should be getting to the time to go. I welded up the fuel cell cage, just need to weld it into the car. Likes will be super simple. Pictures to come but it will probably be a bit because I know I will get lazy.

HA! Dude my 72 bmw 2002 got hit and run, TWICE, in a week. Mean thinks to your car? Nah. Oh but I may steal it (your car) One problem, I don't know exactly where in Bloomington to look. I will have to listen? To what you ask? The rusting, SHHHHHH, can you hear it?

Oh the bleed on the clutch is good. Did it in the driveway. No jack, just got under the car. Its good enough that the pedal has no spring, clutch just comes back from the back pressure.

Man, Come down to Indianapolis. There is a z car club down here. I haven't actually personally met any of the guys but there are a few guys down here. MAG58 Lives in Bloomington, there is a z owner in Fishers, has a turbo 280zx that his dad drove off the showroom floor. If you weren't like an hour and 40 away I would offer to come help. The z's are around. I saw an amazing orange one with Pansports Downtown Indy. Loving it guys, Z-aholics unite!
