  1. Sparks, I have a local source of methanol that is significantly cheaper then that. Lemme know if you want the number. You can buy VP methanol for less then 5/gal. Evan
  2. Most car audio installation shops have the stuff in stock. BBY and circuit have prepackaged loom. You will likely pay more there then if you head to a smaller shop. Evan
  3. Shut the door.. problem solved LOL I am in a similar situation right now, where I really am not supposed to be working on my car in my garage at my apartment. They haven't caught me yet. Evan
  4. There are days when I regret selling my Z, but knowing that I did it to build a different and more practical car puts my mind a little more at ease. I was in the same situation as you, and it was time to let it go. Sad day yes, but theres always later!
  5. Find yourself a storage unit you can rent that has power in it Don't ask, I know of guys who do this. Evan
  6. A 110 welder WILL do the job you need. Your going to need an enormous extension cord, which will NOT be cheap. IMO, welding outside in your parking lot is likely to get you evicted. Also, its kind of irresponsible since you can end up giving some poor person flashburn and damage their eyes. If you have the space and resources do it yourself, if not, pay a pro. Have you considered renting an area to work in so your not rushed and forced to do a less then stellar repair? IMO thats your best bet of all. Thats gonna take a LOT of time to get right. Evan
  7. I have a t3/t04e on my RB25DET. No restrictor, and no smoke. Using -4 An feed line. Evan
  8. Yeah, not TOO bad. If you let it sit on there for an extended time it will start making a mess of things.
  9. That photo has been floating around the internet for years. If I remember, its a car from japan. You wanna see some seriously clean engine bays.. .go to honda-tech.com and search wiring tuck. Those guys are animals when it comes to hiding things. Nice to steal ideas from!
  10. Problem is for me, realistically, if I go out and spend 25k on a supra or evo I will still funnel money into it like mad. Thats just how it goes for me. I contemplated selling my Z a lot of times before it actually got parted out. It was not a feasible car as a daily. It sat way too much. My 240sx? I could not have done better. I get frustrated sometimes, but with no car payment and big HP on tap whats NOT to like? I had a guy over the other night to help him troubleshoot his RB swap. He walked in the garage and said "This must be the cleanest S14 in WI". Stuff like that keeps things in perspective. Hang in there, your just a bit burnt out. Evan
  11. I actually pulled my head when I broke a few off. I had the machine shop remove them. I special ordered grade 10.8 (or is it 10.9) bolts from a fastener shop, and cut the heads off. I threaded the studs in until they bottomed in the head. There is enough thread engagement where there is no chance of them pulling out. God forbid they break again, which I don't think they will. ARP makes a ridiculously expensive kit for exhaust studs too. Evan
  12. deatchwerks will clean, and flowtest I am sure I spelled it wrong, google always corrects it for me! They did a set for me.
  13. Its common knowledge with most paint, that you are not to use ANY wax for at least a month. Could be different with your stuff, but you really need to look into it. Evan
  14. I would NOT trust a wideband sensor that has been coated in oil. That said, it may be okay but you really should keep an eye on things until your positive its fine. Evan
  15. Actually, I did search "smurf tubing" and the only thing that I got was this thread. Searching smurf brought me one result from Grumpyvette. I agree with the value of a predetermined bend, takes alot of guesswork out. I would love to build a downpipe with that stuff. It would save quite a bit of time and guarantee an almost perfect fit. I use mild steel though, so I can build about a dozen of em and screw them all up and still come out okay LOL. Evan
  16. Alright, as some know from DNI my boost controller was going nuts. I had suspected it was because it was running rich but I am almost 100% sure thats not the problem now. A/Fs look good. If I drop the hammer around 2500rpms, the car will boost 20psi (where its set to). If I drop the hammer at 4k (right in the boost threshold) it generally only makes 7psi of boost (spring pressure).... Is my boost controller flaking out on me or do I have it setup wrong? I have an RB25DET with an external wastegate. I have played with dip switches and the knobs on the front panel in an attempt to make it consistent. Thanks guys. Evan
  17. Well, I do agree with this... however I have had TWO of these intercoolers from different "brands" and have seen another two in person. They were so close to the same, if not identical it would be splitting hairs. I didn't mean to say chinese intercooler... I meant knockoff intercooler. I guess I should rephrase.. In my experience, the chinese knockoff intercoolers do not vary too much in quality or materials. Evan
  18. I don't doubt that a better flowing intercooler will actually gain me a bit of HP through efficiency gain etc... However, I can think of better places to spend the 500. At my rate, they are trash in a couple years. It doesn't make me cringe nearly as badly when the knockoff taps a curb or the asphalt. I guess my point was that there was no use splitting hairs when it comes to chinese intercoolers. They are all pretty much the same. Dr.Hunt has a JGS, which is an excellent I/C. Nitpicking is warranted when your spending that kind of money on a core and end tanks. Evan Best bet, after reading monzters post, would be to buy one of the cheapo's and build really good endtanks IMO.
  19. Sucks, you need to get that crap cleaned out ASAP before everything rusts.
  20. I thought you may have blown your wallet up.
  21. I find it funny that you guys are worried about knockoff treadstone intercoolers. The treadstones are knockoffs themselves! Nothing special here folks. That said, I run a chinabay intercooler with good results. I certainly cannot justify paying 600 for something that I will ruin on the street within a few years. Evan
  22. First, Monzter made huge changes to his spearco intercooler of that type that gained him good flow. Second, some of the ebay ones are cast, some welded. I know my crossflow unit is cast. Just trying to help, good luck. Evan
  23. Wait, what? As far as I know they are for mocking manifolds if your a builder. I saw something similar at advance auto parts for cold air intakes. More cheesy, and about 100 bucks. Evan
