More Cobra R Wheels
Evan Purple240zt replied to PaulR's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Another interesting discovery i though i would share. Sears sells Z racing wheels. Well turns out sears buys old molds from companies such as enkie and makes thier wheels from that. My bud has a set that say enkie in the back of the rim. Evan -
I wish i remembered the website, but the thing about them is they dont help you see any better. In most cases they make it worse. A website on automotive lighting used a lightometer or something LOL. And found out that they dont help. HID, is something totallly different. It can be done but its expensive. Also, in IL, the blue lights weill get you in trouble with the cops. I have freind who have had major problems with the POPO because of em. Evan

Pete, thanks alot for the compliment on the paint. Im still drooling over your car. As for the wheel pics. Ill have more pictures up later of it hopefully. The engine compartment looks like poo cause its black. Maybe someday ill paint it to match the car! I really really wish i had done that. Engine is an intereresting story i wont get too far into. I am building a turbo motor, which more pics will be up of soon. I have been waiting FOREVER for the pistons. My HP goals are between 350 and 400 hp. I know they are high but ive had ALOT of time to get the parts i need to achieve that goal. I dont know whats going on the car next. Most likely a BRE rear spoiler painted to match of course. FYI, on the paint. My car isnt really that color. I had to darken it up a bit for the rims to show. Its pretty close though! Thanks all- Evan Here is what has been, or is going to get done before i drive again. I havent driven my car in over a year now. Its since gotten, new rims, coilovers, and the engine swap. Should be a totally different car when i take it out. Im excited

Uhhh dont get me wrong here but that engines in the back seat! DAMN. I like the look of corvairs, as does my girlfreind. But now that i see how tough it is to make something that isnt crap fit, i dont think she or i will own one LOL> Evan

Nic, i too, am 21 on the 22nd of this month. We are young. We are stupid and crazy sometimes. Thats just the way it is. It sounds like you have a great foundation for your turbo transplant though. I am shooting for closer to 400hp right now honestly. Ill be very happy with 350rwhp (for awhile). Thats enough power to get myself into MAJOR trouble. Ive learned streetracing is a bad idea, and my GF chastises me for it. So ill try to keep my foot outta the floorboards for the most part. Anyway, im talking out my rear again. I am probably going to cage my car this summer and upgrade brakes again. Im scared to death of that turbo motor! LOL Evan

Thanks guys, thats my lesson in internet jargon for the day LOL. My buddy ron made the hotwheels thing. Smartass... Thanks for the compliments guys. You can see my hood ontop of the cabinet in the upper left. Its been up there for a year now. Ouch. I need to get you guys some pics of my car when its clean. Theres like an inch of dust and crap on the thing, i have only washed it once in the last year and it has been sitting in my dirtyass garage LOL Anyway, Ill have more pictures with wheel closeups up next week. I can share those now that i know how to display images! Drax, where did you get the picture of my car not in the hotwheels thing? I dont think its posted is it? The problem is my car looks good, but youll notice the engine hoist with nothing on it in the front *sigh* Later fellas- Evan

LMAO... Just got a call from Tirerack!
Evan Purple240zt replied to Mikelly's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Mike i got my new rims and tires from tire rack. Service was excellent and they had my rims and tires to me in two days! I was truely impressed. Sorry to hear of your problems. I just put a set of 17x8 OZ monte carlo rims on my car. I wanted a plainer look than the konigs that i had Evan -
Yeah they fit, you may want to search archives on zcar.com to find out which one! Evan

car chemistrys inserts instead of mufflers?
Evan Purple240zt replied to z ya's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Very cool. Do you guys know if they would produce too much backpressure for my turbo motor with 3 inch exhaust? Thanks alot~- Evan PS would be cool to not have a clunky muffler -
Hey guys, i just thought id mention i had seen the GNX on the archiives section of car and driver television show today. I had no clue how quick they were. I still have wood and that was like an hour ago HAHAH. The first turbo car ive ever driven was a pretty well tricked out buick GN. My dads freind loaned me the car for a weekend! Dang. Well first out of the box, i hammer it and get nothing. I was somewhat dissapointed with the HP output. I was like what the crap this is slow. Well i didnt understand the turbo thing yet. Well i was passing through an intersection and nailed it assuming that was all that car had. Whoa was i wrong. I got half way across the intersection and that car just LIT the tires up. First thing i thought was, who the hell is doing that? LOL. Ive been hooked ever since. Scottie, after seeing that gnx on TV i have an idea of what your z will do. All i can say is amazing! Evan PS, im still wanting a GN drivetrane for my 96 s10 after the motor goes out on that thing!

Will this alternator work on an L6 motor? GM swap
Evan Purple240zt replied to Evan Purple240zt's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Tim i did see that, but in most cases you can remove the serpentine pulley and put on a v groove unit. Anyway, it was cheap and i was curious Thanks dude- Evan PS more advice welcome! -
SDS water temp sensor/painless wiring auto fan switch??????
Evan Purple240zt replied to Evan Purple240zt's topic in SDS
Morgan, i give. Where on the site is that option specified. I dont see it anywhere nor was i offered it. Damn. Oh well. Let me know if you can find it though. Evan PS, i thought of the same reason for not using the same sensor right before i read your post. Duh -
hey guys i know some of you must have done the alternator swap onto a zcar with a delco alternator. I have a chance to pick up one off of the 3.8 liter motor for a good price and wondered if the mounting holes were the same for the other GM alternators. In case you care heres a picture of it http://members.aol.com/thatandthis2/213olds98.jpg Thanks again guys- Evan

SDS water temp sensor/painless wiring auto fan switch??????
Evan Purple240zt replied to Evan Purple240zt's topic in SDS
Point well taken. I wasnt aware of that option at the time. Oh well, guess its time to stick another sensor in that there motor somewhere! Evan -
If its a nissan trans you are talking about this is the problem. There are plugs in the center of the trans underneath with ball bearings that are held in place by springs. This detent ball holds the trans in gear. If you replace the springs it should cure your problem, if im making no sense just email and ill try to whip up a long drawn out explanation of a simple problem. ( i get wordy sometimes LOL) Evan

Hey guys, i have an SDS system and was wondering if i could use the temp sensor that comes with it. Standard GM sensor, and use it to trigger the thermometer contraption from painless wiring so my fans come on at the right time. If that made no sense... i want to use my sds water temp sensor on a painless wiring temperature controlled fan switch. Will this work? Evan

I honestly dont know and a guy has one for sale. Im somewhat interested but dont want to offer him too much money! Thanks- Evan PS do any of you have one you want to dump? the only reason im looking at one that needs a rebuild is to save money
