  1. Great welds and thanks for the write up. Much appreciated.
  2. I think I've seen a couple other threads on here from someone using one from a 350z. I was planning on grabbing a 350z transmission next week. I haven't looked into it to much but from what I can see you'll need the adapter and your wiring harness will need to be changed up a bit I don't know how much work is involved in it but i do know wiring specialties makes a harness for the 240z with a 1jz & 350/370z transmission. If you're planning on buying a wiring harness that is. http://www.wiringspecialties.com/2jwihafordap.html If you find out that you'll need anything else, post about it for future members.
  3. glad to see another JZ build, post some pictures when you can!
  4. truck looks great, what are your plans for it?
  5. any tips? Ill be needing to rewire my new engine into a fuse box for both the engine compartment and interior and have no clue where to start.
  6. I'm using a walbro 255 fuel pump. My opinion doesn't really count though I haven't started it yet so I don't know if it'll be good enough.
  7. When you bought your engine did it come with your igniter and noise filter? I'm having a hard time tracking one down.

    Seat Swap

I fit some tiburon seats in my 240z. I have a build journal showing the seats as well the seat in the car.
  9. @softopz, if worse comes to worse I'll only be out $50.00 for the seats. Thanks for the suggestion on the gauges they look good.
  10. @Nelsonian, MMRAD-AE86-83 is the model number and here is a gap, it's actually bigger than I remembered. About 3/4".
  11. sounds great would love to see the full build thread if one exists
  12. not at all, cant wait to see more progress pictures.
  13. model specific (corolla), I ended up with about 1/4" gap on either side of it and the height was bang on. I can take some pictures if you'd like or can try finding you a part number.
  14. @seattlejester, thanks for the response.
  15. Managed to grab some seats locally for $25 a piece. The overall shape of them is ok the drivers seat does have a small tear about 1" big. I managed to get most of my wiring hooked up just need to know where some plugs go. Anyone have any ideas on what to do for a fuse box and if I'll be needing an interior and exterior one? The 240 never had one when it was purchased.
  16. valve covers came out great. What type of emu are you running?
  17. @Greeko, Thanks, and I ended up grabbing the intercooler, rad and fan locally. I'll have to grab the tubing for the intercooler from somewhere else though as no one here seems to carry anything. I found some time to mount things up recently and tested out some paint in the engine bay.
  18. Don't mean to hijack the thread but would love a thread or some guidance on how to build your own wiring harness. The ECU pin outs are so confusing
  19. The engine looks good. My personal opinion is save your money and just build your own mounts. Even if you can't weld and have to get someone to weld them up for you it'll still be cheaper. It isn't hard to do, just my two cents though.
  20. would like to see more pictures of the car, loving the exhaust though.
  21. Welcome to the forums, I bought my 1JZ from Montreal in Canada and had it shipped to me. All I did was google and research the company, I called each one that peaked my interest and asked questions. If your satisfied with how they answered your questions check for reviews on them. Just don't jump into buying the first thing you see. As far as everyone else I'm not to sure but a quick google search pulls up a lot of results on venders. I ended up buying a used harness off of someone on ebay and I'll have to wire it myself to the Datsun, from what I've seen it seems to be split between spending the money and buying a new harness or using the one that comes with the engine and wiring it up yourself. In my opinion it comes down to what do you think is reasonable for a wiring harness and are you willing to pay it. There are ECU pinouts everywhere online for 2JZ & 1JZ motors it just takes time, patience and some research if you aren't familiar with wiring everyone together. Again a quick google search will bring up several different harness manufacturers some require your core harness and some don't, pricing usually reflects that. Hopefully someone else can chime in about the single turbo manifold. A lot of the guys posting build journals have some good information check it out, from what I've seen most are willing to help you out with any questions you may have.
  22. that front lip looks great, really liking it. @Dat73z I was thinking it looks a bit off as well, I would like to see some more pictures. On the pictures you posted it looks like the lip has a bit of a peak in the middle while the MSA one doesn't. I could be wrong though, please keep us informed if you do find out anymore information on this.
  23. So will I was waiting for the new parts I had order I end up pulling my dash. Bad news is the dash is cracked, luckily its only one small one so I might just reupholster it. I'm currently planning on switching up the existing gauges. The speedo and tach is 5" and the other guages are 2 5/8" or 52mm if I'm not mistaken. I'm not set on any particular brand of gauges as of right now but was thinking of getting something with a dial for my speedo and tach and digital for my other gauges, was thinking of getting something with a white or purple light to it. Does anyone have any recommendations or reviews on products they've used before? Came in to work today to find my intercooler has finally arrived, the core size is 12.5"x 22"x 3.5". Now im just waiting on my rad and fan which should be coming in tomorrow morning.
  24. Found some time over the weekend to drop the engine and transmission into the car. I had be reading up on different mounts that were for sale (not many I might add) that wouldn't break the bank. I ended up fabricating my motor and transmission mounts and got them welded up. Just a heads up to someone planning a swap like this, it isn't to hard to make your own mounts and it's really cheap even if you have to pay a professional welder to weld everything up for you. Placed an order on a radiator and an intercooler and now its a waiting game.
