  1. I'm not sure about a 73 240 but I know 70-72 didn't have the intermittent setting for the wipers like the early 260 does. check the connector on the wiper motor before pulling it out. Joe
  2. Yep. He never recovered from the accident at Pomona last year. RIP
  3. The hose you are talking about is indeed a gas tank breather hose and is connected to the vapor tank. I would start by dropping the tank and making sure there are no cracks in any of the tank breather hoses. On a 240 tank I believe there are three such hoses. The thing that has me puzzled is the sound of squirting gas you are hearing back by the vapor tank. HAve you by chance plugged the gas tank breather tube that runs to the engine compartment? It would be the metal line that comes up frm the frame rail and conected to the "T" fitting close to the coil. This is where it is on a 240. Anothere thing to look at is the vapor tank itself. Do you have a plastic tank or a metal tank? The plastic ones have been known to crack. Joe [Edit] Oh yeah, do as David said, get a 75 or 76 gas tank. They are designed to work with FI.
  4. Your right Jersey. The only thing different on my P90a head from a P90 is mine has an A after the P90! Joe

    Garage size

The "Ultimate Garage" is about a half mile from my house. I don't think any of us here are in that guy's league. I had a few emails between Steve and I when I was building my garage but when I stated I was a Z guy and lived so close to him the responses stopped. I guess Z's don't fit into his image of Prancing Horses and German machinery. Joe

    Garage size

Can someone tell me why I still live in the metropolitan NYC area? I built my 24x32 garage that size because it is the largest I was allowed by law in my town. Seems there is a law that only allows you to cover 1/3 of your property. This includes the house, driveway, shed, deck, garage, etc.... And they would not let me have the peak of the garage higher than 15ft!! Upstairs is just for storage and would be perfect if i were only 4ft tall. I have the V8 260, turbo 71 240, bone stock 72, the Grand National, motorcycle, fridge, 3x6 bench and assorted cabinets all in there. I used 4 8 ft - 4 tube flouresant fixtures on the ceiling which is only 8ft 9in high. Anyway my point is, what will you be using the garage for? How many cars will be in it at a time? Like I said, I have 4 cars in the garage, the doors are closed because it's cold outside and, with the help of casters, I can still work on them. If I were to do it all over again the only thing I would do differently is add a drain. Running back into the house to go to the bathroom gets to be a pain in the ass! Joe
  7. Are you using an oil cooler? Do you know what thw oil temp is? I would put an oil temp gauge in to see if the oil temp is getting too hot. You didn't specify how long the car was running before you shut it down. Rags
  8. I like mine too! 1mm down in the hole at TDC. Off boost feels stronger on the butt dyno than my friends bone stock 75. But that could be attributed to the weight difference.
  9. Forged flat tops on a 3 liter. 8.5-1 compression but using programmable FI. Joe
  10. A small amout of smoke without a PCV valve is normal. When you have an excessive amount of smoke it usually means trouble. As yo suggested, broken ring land. Do a compression check, your not going to be happy. Joe
  11. That was english?! Man do I feel old! Joe
  12. Looks like it's time to let everyone know where you live so someone can step up to the plate and give you a hand.
  13. Pparaska has one on his 327, you should ask him about it. HAven't seen him here in a while. Pete?
  14. Beaded pipes, silicon hoses, and worm gear clamps.
  15. That is the dealer installed AC bracket. it does surround the fuel pump and goes across the front of the head. Joe
  16. I'd also like to know if this is worth it. I would be willing to port match the intake myself, but bowl work? What are they actually doing? I have upped the compression on my 3 liter to 8.5-1 with custom pistons and was contemplating doing some bowl work to unshroud the valves. $550 is a little steep for me right now so I may try this myself. Anyone do this themselves and take some pictures of what the bowl looked like when you finished? How about some pictures of a Rebello or Sunbelt bowl on a P90? Joe
  17. Cranking up the boost without an intercooler or with an inefficient one might give a higher pressure at the intake, but it will also REDUCE mass flow by increasing the temp of the charge, and thus reduce horsepower which is why going above 10lbs made little or no difference. The critical component is mass flow, not pressure, and you can't ignore the temp and "assume" mass flow increase. The charge can/will be made more dense by fuel vaporization, which is why a RRFPR and a good pump will allow more boost by adding more fuel in this situation. Knowing this, it is hard if not impossible to answer the question of boost limit on a stock motor without knowing all the pieces attached to it.
  18. What weight oil did you put in the carbs? Too thick and vacuum won't pull the needle jet up. Try taking all of the oil out and see if that helps. Joe
  19. I think others have noticed too. When was the last time you saw a post from SuperDan, Mikelly, or Pete? Joe
  20. Hey Jim, ditto on the move from GNttype.org! I also swapped a LSD into a 3.54 R200. I got really lucky. The shims on both sides of the carrier put the gear contact patch in perfect alignment. Joe
  21. See why it's good to live in Jersey? Devils will never get any respect but they do keep winning And we don't have red, white and green jerseys anymore! Showing my age here.
  22. Since the rear ZX calipers have a female fitting for the brake lines, is there an adapter to get my braided first gen brake lines to fit the ZX calipers? If not, does the front of an 82-83 ZX use the same brake lines? If they are I'll try to get someone with ZX disks in the back to buy a ZX set of braided brake hoses and we could swap two. Joe
  23. Guess I'm gonna have to get one of em there if I have to pull it down the track with the SHO! Joe
  24. I prefer not to even thik about it! Joe
  25. They are for a GN but not stock GN as the compressor side is upgraded. TE-44?
